The benefits of offering recycling

Joan Talmadge | 6/1/2018 (updated 12/18/2024)

Can you even imagine the mountain of trash generated by vacationers during the summer? As you no doubt are aware, removing and disposing of trash from the Cape and Islands is expensive and harmful to the environment. We here at WeNeedaVacation.com are aware of the fragility of the Cape and Islands and the importance of keeping it clean and green.

Most vacationers recycle at home and expect to do so while on vacation, too. Do you have a recycling program in place at your vacation home? And did you know that recycling is the law in Massachusetts?

The majority of recycling has become single stream, meaning that plastic, glass, aluminum, boxes, and paper all get recycled together. This makes it easy and convenient for vacationers, as the items don’t need to be separated into multiple bins. The sorting is done at the recycling facility.

If you are looking for a recycling company, take a look at the WeNeedaVacation.com’s Home Service Directory.

Nauset Disposal has produced a short but excellent video about the importance of recycling. They are offering a 10% to all new recycling customers.

About Joan Talmadge

About Joan Talmadge: My husband Jeff and I created WeNeedaVacation.com in 1997, shortly after buying our Cape home. My background includes teaching fifth grade for 8 years and writing and editing educational publications for 15. I get great joy from helping fellow homeowners successfully rent their homes. Jeff and I are proud to have two of our three grown children working for WeNeedaVacation.com, truly a family-run business. For me, the Cape and Islands are magical all times of the year -- whether it's walking on Nauset Beach, playing golf, or enjoying family and friends.
