June 11, 2009 - Vacation rental bookings on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are making a steady climb as the summer season moves into high gear. So far this month, bookings are 55% ahead of June 2008. This continues the upward trend of vacationers waiting until the last minute to book their Cape and Islands vacations this summer.
2009 vs. 2008 Booking Rates
Month to month bookings have steadily picked up since January 2009, as compared to the same months last year. The table below explains the details:

In general, Cape and Islands rental bookings are only 11% behind last year. Specifically, the Cape is down 10%; Martha’s Vineyard is down 8% and Nantucket is down 20%. Bookings for homes above $5,000 are ahead of 2008 by 4%.
Pricing
Prices are less than 1% above 2008 levels, except on Nantucket, where they are down 4% and back to 2007 levels. This year could be the perfect time to visit Nantucket.
