About Thoreau's Cape Cod Readathon...As part of Barnstable Land Trust's (BLT) 40th Anniversary year, this first ever two-day live reading of Henry David Thoreau's Cape Cod celebrates an iconic work focused on the natural beauty of Cape Cod and inspires reflection on how the environment and life on Cape Cod life has changed over time. Experience "another world," as Thoreau did, while discovering the plants, animals, topography, weather, and people of Cape Cod as readers bring this classic account to life at BLT's Michael R. Kramer Center, a new post and beam barn located on the grounds of the historic Fuller Farm. The 2-day ten hour event will also be live-streamed. Shuttle buses from off-site parking areas will allow the general public to picnic, hike, and listen to readers who will be stationed inside the barn.

Thoreau's Cape Cod Readathon is an invitation to everyone, including Cape residents and visitors, who seek inspiration, appreciate nature, enjoy art and history, and want to explore how changes in the environment have impacted daily life, our economy, and personal health and wellness over time. Thanks to a community of partners on Cape Cod and in Concord (Massachusetts), a wide range of free special events and additional programming has been scheduled and can be seen at www.blt.org/thoreau.

Thoreau's Cape Cod Readathon is proudly sponsored by the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation with additional support from the Mass Cultural Council.
