About Robert H. Goddard: Father of Modern Rocketry - Massachusetts Air and Space Museum...The museum has a new exhibit on Robert Goddard: The Father of Modern Rocketry. Dr. Goddard launched the first liquid fueled rocket in 1926 at Auburn, Massachusetts, opening the door for the space age.

Come learn how the earliest days of r
ackets laid the groundwork for the eventual landing of men of the moon and building the International Space Station. The work that Goddard did at Clark University in Worcester, MA made it possible for rockets to go farther and higher than ever before. The museum has been loaned from Clark University a model of Goddard's first rocket that took flight in March of 1926. The exhibit shows the various parts of the delicate rocket and describes the work that Dr. Goddard performed to achieve success.
