About 9/11 Classic Car Cruise...
20 Miles for 20 Years, remembrance ceremony, vintage car and truck cruise from Hyannis to Sandwich. 100% of registration fees donated to National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The first ever 9/11-- 20 Miles for 20 Years –vintage car and truck cruise will take place at 10:30 am on September 11, 2021, from Hyannis, MA, to Sandwich, MA, to commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the Twin Towers attack.
Miles of pre-1990 classic cars and trucks will assemble at the Cape Cod Mall on Route 28 in Hyannis. Centerville and Hyannis Fire Departments will bring their ladder trucks to hold a giant American Flag over the stage where the opening ceremonies will be held. Local fire, police, sheriffs, veterans and spectators will also gather and supply vehicles.
"My vintage car and truck buddies and I have had this idea since we took a weekend trip to Provincetown. All our vehicles had American flags and, even though it wasn't an organized event, the local police stopped traffic and we had an impromptu parade," said event organizer Sy Zarthar.
The remembrance ceremony will begin at 10:30 and will include speeches, a moment of silence, ringing of the fire department bell, bagpiper, music and more. The twenty-mile cruise from Hyannis to Sandwich will begin after the morning ceremony. The event will end with a closing observance at the Canterbury Plaza, Cotuit Rd., Sandwich, MA.
