About Town of Barnstable Second Summer Celebration & Fireworks...The Town of Barnstable invites the general public to enjoy dance and festivities for the whole family at Kalmus Beach, 670 Ocean Street in Hyannis on Saturday, September 2, 2023 for the second annual “Second Summer Celebration”, an end of summer festival for locals. The beach near the entrance to Hyannis’ inner harbor is a great place for viewing Community Fireworks set off from a barge in Lewis Bay at dusk, which will top off the night and signal the hallmark end-of-summer rituals that exemplify Labor Day Weekend on Cape Cod. The rain date for the fireworks is Sunday, September 3rd.
SECOND SUMMER CELEBRATION AT KALMUS BEACH
5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Family fun will take place at Kalmus Beach from 5:00 to 8:00 PM including free games and community resources, as well as performances and workshops presented by a collaboration of local instructors and professionals from Movement Arts Cape Cod. A pop-up dance floor, right on the beach will be their stage as they offer varying international styles of music and dance like samba, capoeira, interpretive story telling through contemporary dance, pole dancing at sunset with colorful sails, Egyptian belly dancing and more. Onlookers will experience the sights and sounds reminiscent of international seaside fairs from around the world. Town departments and local resources will be on hand with interactive displays and valuable information for all with everything from upcoming important events and public health studies to back-to-school information and business opportunities. The popular Marine & Environmental Critter Truck, Antique Hyannis Fire Truck and Silent Spring PFAS Study are just a few that will be on hand.
