The anticipation surrounding Wellfleet OysterFest 2022 was undeniable, as was the anxiety felt by many regarding the location change. However, all of us at WeNeedaVacation were thrilled to be reunited with the event that sends hometown spirit flowing freely through our veins. No matter what has changed about the event over the years, one thing has remained the same: the ability of Wellfleet’s briny, succulent oyster to unite thousands of individuals with its one-of-a-kind taste.

Locals giddy with hometown pride, visitors beaming ear-to-ear from the after-effects of their Oyster Stout, dozens of vendors showcasing the best of their creativity, and fiercely strong shellfishermen shucking at the speed of light. These were just a few of the sights we got to soak in while being amidst the excitement at Wellfleet OysterFest. Perched behind our vibrant blue and yellow booth, Jennie, Joan, Jeff, Diane, Jim, and I had the opportunity to meet many of our lovely homeowners and vacationers face-to-face. Each interaction has been etched in our memories, making us all the more excited to return to this beloved festival for years to come. Whether we were instilling excitement in vacationers for their 2023 trip back to the Cape and Islands, or discussing with homeowners some of the highlights of their summer season, being able to further establish these relationships was a privilege. Cheers to sweet, succulent oysters, and the lovely, vibrant community of Wellfleet. Let the countdown to OysterFest 2024 begin!
