The prestigious Conde Nast Traveler recently named Cape Cod one of “The Best Family Vacation Spots in the U.S.” With sweeping coastlines and ocean views, fresh seafood, and unique local treasures, Cape Cod is a terrific destination for the entire family.
Among several Cape highlights mentioned in the article is one of our favorites – the historic Nauset Lighthouse in Eastham. Built in 1877, this 48-foot structure was originally located in Chatham before being dismantled and moved to Eastham in 1923. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the lighthouse sits about 300 feet from the coast overlooking the gorgeous Atlantic surf.
Visitors to the Nauset Lighthouse can climb to the top and take in the incredible views. While tours are not currently being offered this time, be sure to check back in spring of 2021 for more information. And if this lighthouse looks familiar, it could be because you’ve seen it on bags of Cape Cod Potato Chips — they’ve made the Nauset Lighthouse their logo!
Just across the road from the lighthouse is popular Nauset Light Beach. Featuring a mile of coastline, this National Seashore beach offers great waves for surfing, clear waters for swimming, and breathtaking views for photography. Visitors have access to showers, restrooms, lifeguards, and a parking lot. This beach tends to fill up quickly, so plan to arrive early to find a great spot.
If you’re looking to stay nearby, we offer a variety of charming Eastham homes. These unique properties will not disappoint travelers looking to experience the Outer Cape.
