Description

Description

This double waterfront location on the prettiest part of the island has the bay out front and the ocean out back. It is on an isthmus between a the bay and the Atlantic Ocean and is as close as you can get to living on a boat and still be on land.

The house was designed for a large, active family and can accommodate a lot of people despite being 2,000 sq. feet. The four bedrooms sleep twelve on a single, open, and bright floor plan. There is a master bedroom with an attached bath, a guest room with a double bed, a bathroom with washer and dryer, and two bunkrooms, each with three single bunks, and a double loft. A well-equipped kitchen, two kayaks, and an outdoor shower with views across the harbor make this the prefect spot for your beach vacation. Enjoy swimming, boating and beautiful sunsets over Nantucket Harbor every day, or walk out the back door and cast a line into the best bass fishing grounds on the East Coast.

The house is located in the village of Wauwinet which a has about 20 homes and a discrete hotel called ''The Wauwinet'' which has a nice restaurant and bar. The village serves as the entrance to a huge stretch of National Seashore and land in trust. To enter the village, you either have to be a resident or have a 4-wheel drive vehicle with a permit that allows you to access the 15 miles of beaches beyond our house. There are tennis courts available from the Hotel.

The main town is about a nine miles away and is filled with shopping and restaurants, as well as fishing charter boats in a full service marina. The are a number of great surfing beaches a few miles farther out of town on the South side of the island.

This is our family's summer home which was built by my parents in 1968. We have rented the house for decades and most of our renters have been coming for years.

What is special about this property?
It it is located in Wauwinet on an isthmus between a the bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is as close you can get to living on a boat and still be on land The house was designed for a large active family and can accommodate a lot of people despite being 2,000 sq. feet. It has two bedrooms with double beds - one a master with a connected bathroom - and two bunk rooms, each with three built-in single bunks and a loft be that sleeps two. The rest off the house is a an open living/ kitchen/dining area with windows that look out across the bay to the town (and the ocean when the dune is not built up). The house is a simple open-stud house and is designed for people who love the beach and ocean. Because the house is oriented East/West one of the beaches is always protected.

What is special about your town?
The house is located in the village of Wauwinet which a has about 20 homes and a discrete hotel called ''The Wauwinet'' which has a nice restaurant and bar. The village serves as the entrance to a huge stretch of National Seashore and land in trust. To enter the village you either have to be a resident or have a 4-wheel drive vehicle with a permit that allows you to access the 15 miles of beaches beyond our house. There are tennis courts available from the Hotel.

The the bay is about 100 yards out the front door. It is warm, with a gently sloping bottom perfect for small children learning into swim and filled with all kinds of sea life. There is sailing, water-skiing, fishing and clamming in the bay, and its adjacent estuaries. Out the back door is the ocean is great for swimming, bass and blue fishing.

The main town is about a nine drive or bike ride, and if filled with shopping and restaurants, as well as a fishing charter boats in a full service marina. The are a number of great surfing beaches a few miles further out of town on the South side of the island.
