Description

Description

Our 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage is perfect for vacationers who want to enjoy Nantucket the way the locals do. The cottage has over 1400 sq. ft. of indoor living space with a relaxing outside grass yard and is a non-smoking and animal free home. When you read our consistently fantastic reviews and comments from past guests you can feel confident when booking our special spot.

This vacation rental is best suited for solo travelers, 1-2 people who are friends, a mature couple or two couples vacationing together. Due to the size, configuration, property location and safety concerns the cottage is not appropriate for children and those with mobility issues may find it challenging. There is one queen sized bed in each of the 2 bedrooms and each bedroom will accommodate 2 adults sleeping in the same queen-sized bed. The bathroom is on the 1st floor. We maintain a smoke free and animal free home for the comfort of all our guests and make no exceptions. This cottage and neighborhood is not a party area and we have been pleased with keeping a low-key clientele.

The house has ultra-quiet, wall mounted air conditioning units, two large size bedrooms with queen size beds, comfortable mattresses and sumptuous bedding, tiled kitchen countertops, exposed reclaimed beams, pine floors and brick accent wall. We provide free, fast and secure Wi-Fi in the cottage and reaching out to the yard. The first floor has an open layout with one bedroom and bathroom downstairs and comfortable seating in kitchen and living room. The upstairs has sitting room with a 40'' TV and the 2nd bedroom, all with a great mix of furnishings from Nantucket’s local shops. There is a full, dry, clean and bright 400 sq. ft. basement with a washer and dryer for vacationers to use.

We are year round, on-island owners, Bob and Christine and have custom built this cottage. We live in our separate home on the property and use the same driveway that passes the cottage. We will welcome you to Nantucket and provide friendly insight to island living especially if you are a first timer to Nantucket. Whether you would like to celebrate a honeymoon, a babymoon (that great romantic fling before the little one arrives), a special anniversary, or just have time away from it all as a couple, our location in Tom Nevers East will be perfect for you. You will quickly make your own Nantucket memories!

OTHER THINGS YOU'LL WANT TO KNOW ABOUT OUR LOCATION AND PROPERTY: There is private parking for two cars on site in a well-kept, safe neighborhood with eight miles of private paved roads. There are private, no fee tennis courts with pickleball within the neighborhood for your enjoyment. We also provide 4 beach chairs, 4 beach towels, cooler, beach umbrella, tennis rackets, a lobster pot and starter items such as toilet paper, soap, dish and laundry detergent, some paper goods, spices, etc. Our location has easy access to the Milestone Road (Sconset Road) Bike Path, NRTA's seasonal shuttle bus service, ''The Wave'' and beaches. Main Street Nantucket is 6 miles away, just a quick 11 minute drive by car and mid-island necessities such as the Stop & Shop grocery store, Nantucket Cottage Hospital, pharmacies and bank branches. Restaurants such as The Downey Flake, Sea Grille, Pi Pizza, Island Kitchen, Crosswinds at the Airport, Fusaro's and Kitty Murtagh’s are all only 5 miles and minutes away. The village of Sconset with all its own charm and its own zip code (02564) is less than 3 miles from our cottage.

Tom Nevers East is a well preserved island treasure: Delicious, pure well drinking water-no need for bottled water, abundant wildlife, natural beauty, non buggy side of the island, and our famous clear, night sky for stargazing. At our cottage you'll smell and feel the sweet green grass under your feet after taking your post beach rinse off in our enclosed outside shower. You’ll want to hang out in the yard, fire up the grill while sipping your beverage and listen to the pounding surf in the distance. Delight in the birds and bunnies and watch the unique light of the island as you enjoy the bounty from the gardens, farms and waters of Nantucket.

We hope you decide to ''Go Local'' and book with us in our vacation home for your relaxed island vacation and have yourself a full week of fun, food, sand, surf, shopping and sightseeing.

    Cozy Tom Nevers Cottage

It has been our 7th year coming to the cottage. We are always met by Rob and Christine. They are so hospitable and excellent hosts. The cottage is very cozy ,clean and has all the amenities you could ask for. The cottage is a hidden gem on Nantucket. Staying at the cottage has always been a touch of paradise for us through the 7 years.
Great place to make many more Nantucket memories.

    Our Shangri-La on Nantucket

This was our 2nd year staying at this beautiful cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This cottage is immaculate and well equipped and had everything we needed. I would echo what others have mentioned in other reviews that Christine and Bob are very thoughtful and we appreciated the many things they did to make our stay enjoyable. Bob gave us some vegetables from the garden which was a treat! This year was a tough year getting a car reservation and Christine made it happen - Thank you again! I can't say enough good things about our stay. The cottage, and Christine and Bob, get our highest recommendation. show more show less

We appreciate the wonderful remarks you gave detailing all that our cottage has to offer. The location of Tom Nevers East, the relaxed and quiet outdoor setting, easy access to town, bike paths and beaches and our honest efforts to offer you a clean, comfortable "home away from home" during your vacation week. We know that it takes a lot of planning, time and money to take a vacation and we are so happy to assist in many ways to enhance your Nantucket experience.

Tom Nevers: sweet 2 bedroom with tennis

This wonderful, well stocked cottage sits on a lovely, quiet piece of land. Out the kitchen window is a glorious vegetable & flower garden, table and chairs to enjoy dining or reading outside. It is clear that the owners put a lot of love and care into their property and your experience as a tenant. I have never experienced so many thoughtful gestures as a renter of many rentals. Just when you think you have seen it all, one discovers a pleasant surprise. Mainly I appreciated how well stocked the kitchen is, including items such as olive oil and tin foil.
There is a wonderful light, upstairs suite. Downstairs bedroom is located near the bathroom.
I picked this location in part because of tennis access. Loved the quick access to Sconset on the bike path. The owners were happy to share some inside scoop on their favorite beaches and sunset picnic spots. They are super organized and Christine spent 2 days helping us get a car ferry reservation, which was much appreciated.
    The home is meticulously maintained.
The property affords privacy as well as a friendly hello wave, while we each went about our days.

    Lovely Stay

This was such a lovely relaxing place. If you are looking for a nice chill getaway to the island this cottage is very cute and comfortable and in such a great quiet spot. My friend knows it well and has invited me to stay for a ladies getaway. It had all the basics one needs for a proper stay. The owners Christine and Bob are lovely people and I would highly recommend. I hope to be back to their Oasis!!

    Like coming HOME!

This isn't my first time staying at this property ... it had been a few years ... but returning was like coming home!

The cottage is impeccably kept, showing no signs of wear and tear since I was last here five years ago. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds super comfy. When I arrived both Christine and Bob were there to greet me and there were yummy treats inside :)

A house is a house, but these owners make this rental a home. It's like staying down the laneway from family (family you like!) They are available if needed but leave you to vacation at your own pace. It's peaceful in Tom Nevers with the view of a beautiful garden right outside the kitchen window.

I cannot recommend this property enough.

Great Grey Lady Cottage in Tom Nevers

We have been renting the cottage for the last 5 years. The cottage is very cozy and welcoming. One of the best attributes is the owners Rob and Christine. They are both very personable and take great pride in welcoming you to the cottage and filling you in on everything you will need to insure a wonderful stay. The cottage is extremely clean and is very comfortable. It has everything you need from soup to nuts to again insure you have a memorable stay/vacation. A wonderful vacation house!

We just returned from two very enjoyable weeks at this beautiful and well-appointed house. Having vacationed in Nantucket for many years, and having rented many places, this was the best place we have stayed. Christine and Rob are such considerate and thoughtful hosts and made our stay so enjoyable and look forward to going back. It was such a pleasure to stay in this house! We were impressed by how clean and well-maintained it is and all of the thoughtful details throughout. I should also mention this house is in an excellent location and the yard is beautiful. We give the hosts and this house our highest recommendation. show more show less

We are so pleased that our beautiful property and cottage are appreciated by such wonderful couples during the seasons. It is very gratifying to know that our cottage oftentimes is considered "the best place we've ever stayed". S&C were certainly some of our 5 star guests this year. Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and I hope you'll be able to spend some time on Nantucket again next year.

    Amazing Stay

We absolutely loved our honeymoon at Christine and Bob's Tom Nevers cottage. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. The property was beautiful, we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the lawn, under the trees, as the bunnies hopped along. Peaceful is an understatement. The inside of the house was immaculate, and even better than the pictures. The cottage is equipped with everything you need. We had one rainy day during our stay, and still had plenty of fun as there is a plethora of interesting books on the bookshelf, plus of course the tv/internet. We rented bikes as our main source of transportation, and had no problems navigating the island. Highly recommend going to Sconset, only a 15 minute bike ride! The nights we had reservations for dinner, we used Clyde's cab. To make the trip even better, Christine and Bob are some of the sweetest people we've ever had the privilege of meeting. I've stayed in a lot of different vacation rentals and this was by far my best experience, due to the hosts. If you're lucky enough to see an opening, book it while you can! 11/10 We can't wait to stay here again! Thank you Christine and Bob! show more show less

Thank you so much for your 5 star review. Wow, it really is a great honor to be able to contribute in making this such an exciting and memorable trip. We were happy that you chose our place for your honeymoon retreat. The best part of choosing Nantucket as your honeymoon destination is that you'll be able to celebrate anniversary after anniversary by strolling down the cobblestone streets, biking to Sconset for the sunrise, riding out to Madaket to see the sunset, enjoying the vibrant downtown scene or just sitting at a quiet beach again and again and again. Nantucket is a magical place and it feels good to share be able to share our beautiful property in Tom Nevers East! We are excited for repeat guests.....So ya'll come back now!show moreshow less

    Impeccable and PERFECT!

If we could give this property 10 stars, we would! It is nothing short of impeccable and was PERFECT in ALL ways for us. The location is exactly where we wanted to be and so private and beautiful! We feel we hit the jackpot with this property. The Hosts could not have been better. Very helpful and kind. The cottage was spotless and it had EVERYTHING you could want or need and nothing that you don't. Upon arrival there is a delicious plate of homemade baked goods, the refrigerator has condiments, spices, coffee, sugar, etc. There are maps, bus schedules, all kinds of books on Nantucket, etc.... We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property and we will not hesitate to rent it again in the future. We have been coming to Nantucket for decades, and this property is our new "GO TO" property. You will not be disappointed if you rent this property. It's simply PHENOMENAL, as are the Hosts!! THANK YOU Christine and Bob for a VERY "well done" property and for your hospitality! #PlusQuamPerfectum #HiddenGem #Treasure show more show less

We were young, newly-married and excited when we bought this property in 1979. There were only a handful of year-rounders and very few pieces had sold in this newly developing ''forever wild'' area on the east end of the island. So many people tried to talk us out of it, asking, ''Why are you buying in Tom Nevers? It is so far from Town. You'll hate it.'' Boy, are we glad we didn't listen to them! Wish we had the money back then to have bought a few more parcels!

What is special about this property?
Our property is special to us because of its location in Tom Nevers East. We are part of a homeowners association, that for 35 years, has taken great pride in the efforts made to maintain our six miles of private, surfaced roads that are well marked, easily accessed and in good condition, always with the safety and security of our friends and neighbors in mind.

Our cottage is situated in a garden like setting, quiet and private with nature all around, yet only a few short miles to Nantucket Town and Sconset. The house is meticulously clean. The property setting is quite unique with our green grassy yard, shade provided by the sassafras trees and scrub oaks and parking for two cars. If you are here at the right time...some fresh tomatoes, cukes, and basil from our garden can be part of your dinner! We love it and are very proud of what we can offer a visitor to the island.

What is special about your town?
Nantucket, as an island, is precious to us. We respect and are grateful for its hearty, welcoming residents, as well as the visitors that help boost our economy. We hope that everyone does their part in protecting our open spaces and beaches and they leave the island with a better understanding of the need to help preserve the island's fragile and finite resources. We often think about and reflect upon what the writer/naturalist, Henry Beston wrote in 1928 in his book, The Outermost House: ''Nature is a part of our humanity, and without some awareness and experience of that divine mystery man ceases to be man.''
