Description

Description

This warm and welcoming, cottage-style vacation home is ideal for family vacations and adults alike. Only a ten-minute walk (0.4 miles) to the north shore beaches and 2 1/2 miles to the Madaket beach and harbor, the home offers beautiful walks over conservation land, community tennis courts, and ''turtling'' at the nearby, children-friendly Long Pond. The house is in the Fisher's Landing community, a friendly mix of year round and summer residents, adjacent to the large Loring Nature preserve. Bike riding opportunities abound --- on the nearby bike paths, and for those just learning, on the community streets with very few cars and speed limits of 12 mph. The NRTA shuttle bus, to town and beyond, is a few steps away.

The home is beautifully maintained, with a bright and sunny first floor, including a living room with cathedral ceiling, a dining area that seats six or more, and kitchen. The first floor master bedroom, with a queen bed, and airy decor, has an adjacent bath withtub and shower. A full laundry room completes the first floor, and includes one of two doors to the private deck and outdoor shower. The second floor of the house includes a bedroom with two twin beds and an extra trundle bed, a shared bath with tub and shower, and a third bedroom with two bunk beds (each twins, to sleep up to four). Make this Madaket home your home away from home!

Great Stay; Very Clean; Well Stocked!

This was our second year renting "The Sanderling" in mid-June. It is one of the cleanest properties that we have ever rented. The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils, pots and pans, and dishware one needs for a weekly rental. Extra clean bathrooms and bedrooms with plenty of supplies. Owner provided explicit directions for trash and recyleables pick-up and other services; there were even walking directions to the beach near Eel Point [only about 0.4 miles away]. Nice quiet neighborhood; short driving distance to Madaket public beach and boat ramp. Very resonably priced considering how Nantucket rentals have escalated in recent years. show more show less

    Absolutely Perfect!

This house is set in a very quiet, peaceful Madaket location. The house offers a large yard and deck, perfect for family activities. Very spacious, open and nicely decorated, this home couldn't be nicer.
Our family stayed last summer and we are going again this year. We didn't even consider looking for a different house. It's very reasonably priced, you're getting a lot for your investment.
The kitchen is well stocked, and we're packing light this year; no need for bath or beach towels, sand chairs, umbrellas, etc.
The owners are wonderful people and a dream to work with. Can't wait to get back!

We first started visiting Nantucket in 1977 and fell in love with it more each year. We spent our honeymoon there and dreamed of owning our own place on the island someday. In 1988-89 we were finally able to make this dream a reality. Opening our place to vacation rentals helped bring us to that day. We use this place ourselves in the spring and fall and sometimes during certain weeks of the summer, so it is both a rental property and our vacation home. Since we were summer renters ourselves for many years, we try to keep our place in attractive condition and hope that our guests will develop their own love affairs with Nantucket.

What is special about this property?
We have tried to design and furnish our house with tradition Nantucket values in mind, combining comfort with relative simplicity. We have striven to make the house practical and enjoyable while avoiding ostentation, which we believe is consistent with the spirit of Quaker architecture on Nantucket. The Fishers Landing community provides an attractive venue for this approach. Although it is of relatively modern vintage, the community is intended to bear some resemblance to Siasconset and offers a nice diversity of house sizes and lot layouts.

What is special about your town?
Nantucket's combination of quaint streets, interesting history, and beautiful beaches and moorlands is, we think, unique and special. When you get on that ferry to the island, you really know you are getting away from it all.
