This property will be your home-away-from-home, nestled in the West Chop woods, but only 1 mile from downtown Vineyard Haven. Everything that Martha’s Vineyard has to offer will be at your fingertips: the shops and restaurants of Vineyard Haven, the ferry terminal from Woods Hole, several public beaches, countless wooded or oceanside walking or running trails, public tennis courts, and more — and all accessible by foot or bike if you don’t want to bring a car.

The house itself is on a half an acre of woods off a private road, so you can retreat into the quiet and beauty of nature, while also being close to all the action. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the main house, and a futon in a detached three-season tiny house/cabin. The main house has a post-and-lintel structure, giving it the feeling of a modern chalet with exposed wood beams. The first floor has one bedroom that can be either organized with two twin beds or one king bed; one bathroom with a washer and dryer and stall shower; a kitchen equipped with a new stainless-steel refrigerator, gas stove, and dishwasher; a dining area by a bay window; and a living room with a cozy L-shaped couch and smart television (with access to all streaming platforms). The second-floor suite has an oversize bedroom under triple-height gabled ceilings with a queen bed and a desk built into a dormer window nook if you are working-from-home, a cozy reading nook at the top of the stairs, and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower. There are windows looking out into the woods from every room in the house.

The kitchen flows out onto a back deck, which is only a few short steps from a detached tiny house/cabin. Perfect for overflow space in the warmer months (no electricity), the tiny house echoes the architecture of the main house and offers a full-size futon couch for sleeping, a desk for those who want a separate area to work-from-home, and ample room for a home workout.

Perfect for any season given its location, you can come for vacation or work remotely for a long weekend or a few weeks in the Fall, Winter, or Spring; and/or you can do the same in the Summer or decide to settle for a month or two.

    Wonderful Cozy Cottage

    We absolutely loved this cottage and would return any time we can. So quiet and peaceful, and in a great location about a mile from the main shopping area and harbor in Vineyard Haven. All the amenities were wonderful. And the service from the owners was prompt and helpful. We look forward to coming back!

    Hello! Fred and I (Maggie) split our time between Brooklyn, NY and Martha's Vineyard, and absolutely love both communities. I consult for cultural institutions and Fred consults for biotechs, so we are able to largely work remotely. On the island, we love to hike along the many trails, swim in the ocean, take bike rides, explore the arts venues, eat fresh fish and seafood, and overall just enjoy the tranquility and splendor of the island. We would love share our beloved cottage with you!

    What is special about this property?
    We love that the cottage is nestled in the woods, but within steps of the water and the town. There is so much within walking and biking distance, without ever needing a car. We also love the post and lintel architecture of the house, and find it so cozy for any season.

    Vineyard Haven is our favorite town on Martha's Vineyard. It is charming, vibrant, and convenient. We love the boutiques, the variety of coffee and food options, the proximity to the ferry, and the accessibility to the rest of the island.
