Historic Captain's House/Sleeps 18/Walk to Ferry & Beaches

We stayed here for a wedding...all eight of my college roommates and their partners. It was PERFECT! Morning coffee on the wrap around porch followed by strolls around town, night time cocktails around the fire pit singing songs and the MOST comfy beds! We all slept great! Plenty of bathrooms, areas to sit, read, knit, play a game, enjoy the view from the back upstairs porch or main floor wrap around porch...absolutely perfect. We never felt crowded, never ran out of hot water (and we were all getting dressed for a wedding) safe for children, we had our 14 month old grandson who found lots of fun toys to play with provided by the owner etc. The location was IDEAL, easy access to the ferry, beaches, shops, restaurants etc. we literally walked everywhere! It was truly a MEMORABLE, fun, relaxing, incredible weekend in this beautiful home. Alex, the owner was super accommodating as we were traveling quite distance and had an earlier ferry than check in time. Alex responded quickly to all our inquiries and made this an easy transaction. We couldn't be happier. Now...big question...when can we do it again!!!!!!! Too much fun, great house and beautiful furnishings make us all want to return! show more show less

Our family spent an amazing and magical week at the Dexter. Most important to me when staying in a rental home are cleanliness and accurate representation from the listings. The Dexter was clean and as pictured/described or even better in person.

The house has been equipped with every item we could have needed. There were things there that we didn't even know we needed. The beds were very comfortable and everyone's showers were hot. The central air and window units kept the house nice and cool - refreshing after a hot day at the beach and good for sleeping. We had a baby with us, so it was a relief that all the baby gear was there. The small children and their parents stayed in the Captain's Quarters and the attached Chart Room. That was a perfect set-up. Our most senior adult stayed in the bedroom on the first floor and didn't have to climb steps. There was a full bathroom for that room that I didn't realize from the online descriptions, which made it even better for her. So convenient.

Some in our group used the private outdoor shower. We had a lobster night for 17 people and had everything we needed (lobster pots, multiburner commercial stove, very nice tableware, etc.) and enough seating to make that night a remarkably memorable end to our trip.

The location cannot be any better. We loved being able to walk to shops and to the grocery store for whatever we wanted that day. We often went nextdoor to the cafe for coffee or to the Attic above in the evening for a cocktail.

The private parking area for this house made it so easy to load and unload our cars of kids and beach equipment. We used beach toys and beach towels that were provided. Very convenient, too. The towels, sheets and other items provided for our use were of high quality befitting the Dexter's grandeur.

Communication was excellent from the beginning. When we had questions or needs while we were there, we got the answers we needed right away.

The garden is beautiful. We loved sitting outside in the patio area to catch up or review the day. The porch seating was perfect for a quiet morning coffee or book.

I can't say enough good things about our experience. This once-in-a-lifetime family reunion was made so much more special because of our stay at the Dexter. show more show less
