Incredibly convenient, gracious home, perfect for large families. Spend days relaxing on the wraparound porch watching the boats sway in the harbor. Five minute walk to downtown, restaurants, ferry, grocery store, and library. Private path down to private section of the beach with plenty of room to pull up kayaks and other small boats.
Some things to note before renting: our house is great for groups and families as it provides lots of nooks for people to get away in. We are right on the harbor, get a fantastic breeze, and wonderful views. You can, however, hear people chatting on their boats and the announcements on the ferry as it docks (although they do not generally make those before 7am or after 10pm). There is no air conditioning. We do not have central air or window units, so all of the cooling is provided by fans, which are conveniently located in every room (most of these are free standing and moveable for your comfort). The house is old New England with many quirky details. We have updated some things (specifically in the kitchen) but the house has not been renovated and is very old-school with creaky stairs and doors. Two of the three bathrooms have showers in converted clawfoot tubs, the third (downstairs) shower is in a more modern tub.
The downstairs consists of dining room (seats 10-12), kitchen, living room (divided into a sitting area overlooking the harbor and TV watching area), glassed-in sunroom, and a laundry room with half bath. Also downstairs, with full harbor views, is a bedroom suite with deck and entrance. The first room has a queen bed, the second bedroom (accessible through the first bedroom or from external doors) has a double bed. The first bedroom has a full bath. There is an outdoor shower (summer months only) off of the kitchen.
The second floor has four more bedrooms (three of which face the harbor) and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed, harbor views, and an attached bathroom (also accessible through the hallway). The bathroom has converted claw foot tub shower. A second bedroom (also with harbor views) has a double bed and a single bed and a private bathroom with a converted claw foot tub shower. In between these two bedrooms with a full harbor view is a small bedroom with two twin beds. The last bedroom upstairs has windows overlooking the south lawn. It has a double bed and two twin beds and typically shares the bathroom with the master bathroom or (through a back staircase) the suite downstairs. FYI fall rentals, these last two bedrooms are not heated, but space heaters can be provided upon request.
Furnished with antiques and heated with cast-iron radiators the house exudes an old-fashioned charm and is ready to welcome you and your family. Towels, cotton sheets, and light quilts are provided.
We have 7-day rental minimum during summer. Check-in after 4 pm; Check out by 10 am. Our cancellation policy is no refund. read more show less
