This is our second visit to this home in East Chop and find the description as "quiet, comfy home in heart of East Chop" extremely accurate.

The setup is ideal for our multi-generational family - grandparents, Mom, kids 4 and 7.

Highlight of the visit this year was riding the bikes with no training wheels. The closed section of East Chop Drive was ideal for practicing cycling skills.

The location is awesome - just a short walk to the lighthouse and close to Oak Bluffs businesses.

Another lovely visit to Tim's house. The addition of lighting on the porch and new rugs in the living room were fun "to come home to". Even on rainy days we were able to sit outside and read on the porch. We loved looking at all the old photos of the family. It made us appreciate what the house means to them. Tim is a gracious host and very responsive.

Staying at this home provided one of the most relaxing vacations we've had in a long time. The house was welcoming, and we loved hanging out on the covered porch. The garage/shed allowed for easy storage of our bikes and bike racks. Our boys loved playing horseshoes. There are 4 bedrooms and we all slept well. Although there is no AC, with fans we were comfortable at night. We enjoyed the private porch off of the master bedroom on the second floor for a quiet moment. Loved walking to the East Chop lighthouse and took a couple of longer morning walks into Oak Bluffs. There was a sweet little momma turkey and her 3 babies who visited daily. This home was perfect for a week's stay on East Chop. It is walking distance to the beach and to Oak Bluffs harbor which made it easy for our group to each individually do their own thing. The yard was great for my young children to play in, and they loved walking around East Chop. Perfect house for a beach vacation!

We had a wonderful time at this home in East Chop. It is large enough to accommodate our extended family - grandparents, parents, and grandkids.
Having the extra half bath and the outside shower were a real plus for us with young kids in the party.
We enjoyed the walk to East Chop lighthouse - just .5 mile. A fantastic way to get kids out of the house when there are other sleeping adults. Meeting some neighborhood dogs on their morning walks was another benefit. The 3-year-old was quite thrilled to get to pet and even walk a few dogs.
We had recently purchased a plug-in hybrid vehicle and were thrilled that we could charge the battery through an outlet in the garage.
Everything in the house was "as advertised" and in great working condition. The owner was very helpful with suggestions for things to do and small questions about the home.
We look forward to another visit.

We had a great stay at what felt like a much loved summer home. It has all the amenities, charm and idiosyncrasies of a home that's been in a family for a long time. The porch is a perfect outdoor gathering place for meals or for just relaxing. We used the yard for games and hung out in the hammock too! It's close enough to cycle or walk to the light house, the beach, downtown OB. The house could benefit from a few updates, but by the end of our stay we were able to overlook them. Tim was very responsive and it felt like we had made a new friend by the time we left. show more show less

We stayed at this mid-century modern house in early August, at the height of the tourist season, and it offered a serene, green and peaceful retreat close to all the busy fun in Oak Bluffs. Located a block from the East Chop drive, now closed to cars but a great place to walk, the house was an easy amble past the tennis club to a small pleasant beach by the harbor. The owner was a delight to work with , answered all of our questions promptly and accommodated our unusual scheduling needs so we could participate in a special event at the Tabernacle. The house was well-equipped with everything required for a great visit to the Vineyard: we found what we needed to cook clams, bake zucchini bread, and enjoy preparing other Island produce. Our group appreciated the availability of washer and dryer in the basement and eventually figured out the high-end dishwasher. We spent a lot of time on the shaded and well-lit covered porch ---a great place to relax and catch up on summer reading and even some writing,. Each couple had a pleasant, 2nd floor bedroom with comfortable sleeping and plenty of storage space. The two other bedrooms, one with bunk beds, seem like they would be fun for young ones, The downstairs is well furnished with comfortable older chairs and couches. There is plenty of good lighting and numerous places to plug in electronics and the older electrical system takes a little bit of getting used to. We also enjoyed the al fresco dining spot, the efficient gas grill, and a really great outdoors shower. The house has many family photos and other interesting things on the walls: all of this made us all feel like this was a well-loved home with great family history that felt familiar and nostalgic. Over the years we have stayed in a variety of Vineyard summer houses: unlike many this house has adequate ventilation and very little of the moldy feeling some rentals get. If you like the energy and diversity of Oak Bluffs but also want space, quiet and comfort, this house would be a great choice. show more show less
