Our roots and love for the Vineyard go back over 60 years. Jamie spent many childhood summers on the island with his family and his connection endured. When Carol and Jamie met in college and began dating, it wasn't long before he brought Carol to the Vineyard, and she also fell in love with the island. Since then, we have spent many summers renting homes in different locations with friends and family, but soon our island time extended to off-season rentals as well, especially Thanksgiving holidays with close friends. In 2014, we decided it was time to find our own family home on the island – a place for our daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren to enjoy and make lasting memories.
We now spend time at MeadowRest with family and friends throughout the year. Each season on the island brings its own beauty and magic, and we love being a part of the changing seasons. The abundance of wild turkeys on the island during one Thanksgiving led our grandchildren to affectionately name the house, "The Turkey House," and that name remains to this day! We take great pride in bringing you a quality rental, with loving care and attention paid to every detail, including Jamie's spectacular photos of the island in every room of the house. It is our pleasure to share our beloved island home with you and yours.

What is special about this property?
Our sun-drenched home is nestled in the quiet private community of Meadow View Farms. This community offers private tennis and pickleball courts, both within walking distance from our house. The house is surrounded by beautiful custom gardens which can be enjoyed from both an expansive upper deck (featuring comfortable outdoor furniture, oversized umbrella and a new Weber gas grill) and a lower-level deck. In addition to 3 ensuite bedrooms, the house has a total of 4 bedrooms, and 4.5 bathrooms, including an outdoor shower. The house also features downstairs and upstairs TV/family rooms, a living room with wood-burning fireplace, and a kitchen complete with quality cookware, appliances, and all cooking accessories. In addition, there is a full children's playroom, backyard swing set and play area, exercise room with treadmill, exercise bike and rowing machine, and a small office nook if work beckons you while on vacation. A port-a-crib and portable changing table are also available. The house is beautifully decorated with attention to fine detail and comfort, with central AC and bedroom mini-splits. Our house layout is unique for allowing space for people to spread out, whether to watch tv, enjoy the playroom, read a book, take a nap on the deck, fit in some exercise, or prepare a festive meal. We love the privacy and convenience the ensuite bedrooms provide. In all, we love just about everything about this house, and look forward to sharing it with you.
What is special about your town?
Oak Bluffs is one of the three "main" towns on the Vineyard, and is easily accessible to Vineyard Haven and Edgartown, the two other main towns of the island. In addition to being centrally located to both the ferry terminals (Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven), OB is best known for "Flying Horses," the oldest carousel in the country. This is a must-see family experience for all ages. Add to that, excellent restaurants – both fine and family dining – an array of interesting shops, bike path access, the historic Gingerbread House District and Tabernacle, an expansive village green for picnics, kite flying, or just lounging, and State Road Beach and "Inkwell" Beach. There is something for everyone in OB, including an indoor arcade, and of-course, plenty of ice cream.
