The Katama Beach House, also known as the "Welcom House" was just that—welcoming. For many years my close group of girlfriends have spent a week on the Vineyard in September and have rented a few houses over the years, but by far this was our favorite house. Sure, it's hard to go wrong with any house on the Vineyard—after all, you're on the Vineyard, right?

BUT, let me tell you the minute you take the corner on the private dirt road leading to the house, you know you've hit the jackpot. While the house is situated on a quiet dead end road in the heart of Katama, you are just minutes from downtown Edgartown and a stone's throw from South Beach.

The house is so well-appointed with a nautical flare. Bedrooms are spacious, and three of the four have sliders to the lower deck. The kitchen/living/dining area is also open to a wall of sliders to the upper deck so you always feel as if you are outside. And while it has everything you need on the inside by way of amenities, nothing beats the outside. Not only do you have a pool and large yard, the deck space is spectacular. The upper deck faces the Farm Institute property with South Beach in the distance (yes, water views!). We enjoyed the upper deck in the mornings with our coffee (and saw deer running in the fields nearly every morning) and in the evenings for spectacular sunsets, while the back deck was the perfect spot during the day for lounging by the pool.

I could go on and on about how amazing the house is, but I think you should see for yourself! You won't be disappointed. Hurry up and book, but just don't take my week! :-)

This home was just what we needed for our vacation. Spacious enough for our family of 6, with very comfortable interior spaces. The greatest part for us was the enormous back deck - big enough for a large dining space, comfortable chairs and couches for relaxing, and the ever important outdoor shower! There is a kitchen just inside the door as well making it easy to stay well fed and hydrated if you choose to spend the day around the pool in the backyard. The location is great if you do choose to venture off - with views of Katama Farm and South Beach from the front porch, and the fantastic Katama General Store down the road. Edgartown is a five minute drive away with great dining, galleries, and watering holes. The house was just so comfortable, and the outdoor spaces so relaxing that we will definitely be back. It was a family vacation that got us all to unplug, unwind, and enjoy each other’s company! Thanks so much for making your home available for us to rent! This home has become my favorite vacation spot! Great location near the water and quick trip into town! It truly is home away from home - newly updated, roomy, quiet spot with a gorgeous pool. Plenty of privacy, and, like me, I am sure you will be back year after year!
