DESCRIPTION OF OUR BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY
Location: 134 Pennywise Path, Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Only 1.5 mile from downtown Edgartown and 1.5 mile from Bend-in-the-Road Beach.
Perfect location. Over an acre of private land off a lovely wooded country road not far from historic downtown Edgartown and beaches. It is truly the best of both worlds: just a quick ride into town but when you return, peace and seclusion. Plenty of room to run around, away from noise and traffic.
We are located in a natural, beautiful area, with many country roads, paths and trails to explore, just steps from your door. The house is set back nicely away from our road, Pennywise Path, which is a single-lane, low-speed (12 mph) country road with no through-traffic, making it safer than most kids, pets, joggers, runners, walkers and cyclists.
Nestled in the woods on a nice big lot (1.5 acres), Edgartown Homestead has a large deck with a custom open-air gazebo, which provides shade on half the deck, the other half sunny. This family-sized deck overlooks lawns, gardens and woods. Our lovely, completely enclosed play yard is perfect for kids or pets to play in safely. Inside and out, this handsome colonial saltbox is spacious, tasteful and immaculate. Wood floors throughout most of the house. Beautifully tiled bathroom floors. All beds are of good quality and very comfortable. Yes, linens and towels, are included. We have central air conditioning. We also have a whole-house water filtering system, so the water is clean and safe to drink. In addition to the enclosed outdoor shower, both bathrooms feature tub/shower and double sinks: that's three showers and four sinks; perfect for those times when everyone is trying to get ready at once - especially for a wedding or similar event.
Consider all living areas: The deck is like an outdoor living room. The main living/dining area, with comfortable furniture. The cozy den: a TV room that seats 6.
The kitchen has everything you need. The washer/dryer are conveniently located right off the kitchen. Many amenities. Plenty of off-street parking.
Well maintained and cared for, this home-away-from-home is our pride and joy. We love this house, and you will too. This is not your average rental. We have received excellent feedback from prior guests. Everyone comments that it is better than expected: very clean and very well equipped. Our attention to detail is what has our guests always coming back.
EDGARTOWN is one of the six towns on Martha's Vineyard Island, which is located off the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts (equidistant from Boston and Providence.) Of all the towns on Martha's Vineyard, Edgartown is the most elegant and picturesque with its old-world charm. The historical beauty of Edgartown is unlike any other. The activities, events and attractions in this unique village are numerous and varied. Vast, gorgeous beaches, wildlife sanctuaries, golf, harbor life, shopping, nightlife, arts, restaurants, museums, culture, fishing, jogging, tennis, swimming, festivals, music and more. Welcome to Edgartown! There's no place like it in the world.
NON-WEEKEND CHECK-IN DAYS AT EDGARTOWN HOMESTEAD (WHENEVER POSSIBLE)
Non-weekend check-in days are great for so many reasons: First is the ease of getting ferry reservations, as Saturdays and Sundays sell out first. Second, people attending events such as weddings can avoid having to attend the function on the same day they traveling and checking-in/out. By doing non-weekend check-in, we give our guests the opportunity to stay the whole weekend. Other reasons: lighter traffic on Cape Cod, less-crowded ferries, ease of getting dinner reservations on your first night and last night, a popular tradition, and ease of hitting the island supermarkets, gas stations, etc. and doing other arrival-day shopping and errands on a weekday. Another important thing we've run into over the years: if there’s a repair that the prior renter fails to tell us about, and we don't find out about it until check-in day, we can much more easily get repair people to the house on a weekday than over the weekend. Who wants to see half their vacation week go by waiting for a repair? Also, on weekdays we have better access to cleaning people who are not overbooked, not hurried and not stressed out. They can be there when we want them there and they have the time to do a better job...leaving you with much better odds at getting earlier check-in and/or later check-out, which is almost impossible for us to let you do on a weekend. People asked us years ago to offer a non-weekend turnover, so we gave it a try and have been having success with it ever since.
