Description

This classy, contemporary house has lots of light and open space and is set on a treed, private lot. Cathedral ceilings and an open serving/eating bar between the eat-in kitchen and dining room. The kitchen was totally renovated for the 2018 rental season. It includes white shaker kitchen cabinets, a new serving and dining bar that seats five, a pantry, new appliances, floor etc. Bathrooms we’re repainted and new floors Installed to match the kitchen. The dining room seats eight people comfortably. The house accommodates two or three couples or families. It is decorated in soft blues, beige, and accents of grey and blue and white. It boasts a dining room and living room with 2 sets of sliding doors that lead to a wrap-around deck that faces 32'x 10' on the south side and wraps around to the front of the house for quiet reading. Climbing roses and flowering bushes grace the front yard and pergola, and the enclosed courtyard in the back contains an outdoor shower and hammock for R&R.
The downstairs bedroom has a queen sized bed, flat-screen TV and the large upstairs bedrooms have plenty of extra beds, dependent upon what you need. There are two queens in one upstairs bedroom and a queen in the other. one with plenty of space. There are TVs in the all the bedrooms and a lovely balconied deck. Maximum occupancy is 8 persons. The house has a large 46'' flat-screen TV, cable, ROKU and wireless internet. Rents Saturday to Saturday, but will flex to weekday to weekday rentals to accommodate ferry. Amenities include games , books, deck and beach furniture. There is a portable dehumidifier suitable for the downstairs, one portable air conditioner for the upstairs bedrooms and plenty of fans throughout. It is a family friendly house.

The house is two blocks off the bike path in either direction for easy biking to the town or beach or taking the bus which goes to the beach every half hour and circles back to the town,. .

    Location perfect for Katama getaway

    This house is in the best location when staying on Martha’s Vineyard. It is a quick bike ride to South Beach and center of Edgartown. Oak Bluffs is only 15 minutes away by car. Our party consisted of 6 adults. The house had plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. The kitchen was well equipped for any cooking needs. The bedrooms were cozy. The two decks were great to hangout and enjoy the beautiful weather. Off street parking was a bonus. Thank you, Kathleen, for a wonderful vacation rental.     This rental will not disappoint! It has all of the attributes to make your Vineyard stay a perfect one! Easy walk into Edgartown or a pleasant, short bike ride to South Beach. Quietly nestled in a charming neighborhood this house has a bright and spacious feel. Comfortably sleeps 8. The large deck is perfect for drinking your morning coffee or relaxing at the end of the day. The kitchen has everything necessary to make your meals even for a larger group.     We just returned from 10 days in our favorite Vineyard rental property. We've been back to this house for many many seasons, usually for two weeks after Labor Day. We love that time of year on the Vineyard, no crowds, warm water to swim in, everything's open, and rentals are less expensive! One year we spent a full month in this house during a sabbatical.
    This particular home is in a perfect location -- a 20 minute walk to Edgartown Center or the beach and a quick bike ride to either. Proximity to the bike trail is very important to us. We also love a brief trot in the morning to the Katama General Store for coffee, the NY Times, and delicious scones.
    Our favorite aspects of this house are the large sunny deck where we spend most of our time, morning noon and night, and the open layout of the main level. We also love the outdoor shower.
    The owners make improvements every year, which are always a pleasant surprise. This year they added new deck chairs, a new living room couch, and light fixtures. The house comfortably sleeps six, and there's a fold-out couch in the living room, which we've never used.

    Great vacation rental

    In previous years, I have rented the guest cottage behind this house and was very happy with the cottage. This year, we rented the "big house" for the week. This property was perfect. The house came with everything that's needed for a vacation, plus a big screen TV to watch the Olympics. The 3 bedrooms were spacious, light and very comfortable. The kitchen had all the supplies needed for cooking -- we only had to do the food shopping. The location is ideal -- you can walk into Edgartown for the wonderful restaurants, shops, etc. and it's close to South Beach for swimming.

    Vineyard Escape

    Had a wonderful time. The house has many updates; new lighting and cozy furniture with an island flavor. Very tasteful decor. Appreciated all the ammenities of home. The high speed internet was a plus, since I needed to work some of the time! Easy access to beaches and town. Right on the bike path! Very private, quiet lot due to shrubs and trees conveniently placed. Spent many afternoons tucked away on the hammock with a book. Spacious sunny deck was a plus for our outdoor dining. I would highly recommend this property. You won't be disappointed! Can't wait to return to this island hideaway for more. show more show less

    My husband Tim and I have owned our house on Martha's Vineyard for 24 years. We purchased it for our 25th wedding anniversary as we had honeymooned there and the Cape in 1968. We have enjoyed many days and nights with our family and friends there and love to share the island experience with others.

    We also lived there for four years and have gained a perspective about the island that is different from just the usual tourist look. I was the principal of the Chilmark School during that time and my husband had just retired. Family obligations called us back to New York State and so we are back to sharing and renting our property with those who enjoy the beauty and peace of Martha's Vinyard as we

    We care for our house lovingly, as a precious gem, and our house is in a perfect location, offering access to town by foot or bike, yet far enough away from the bustle to relax. We are two blocks off the bike path and bus line, which affords alternate travel if needed. South Beach is 1.7 miles from home.

    What is special about this property?
    The house is in a quiet neighborhood called Edgartown Estates which is a mile from Edgartown Center and 1.7 miles from the beach. The house itself is very open and airy, with two sliding doors out to the large deck. There are two decks on the house One is 10 by 36 and then wraps around the front entrance, covered by a pergola. This is protected by a wooded lot and a small courtyard, affording privacy and comfort.

    The kitchen is open to the dining room, which makes entertaining the family or company designed for maximum interaction as you prepare meals. The bedroom upstairs (2) are quite large , each containing two queen or full sized beds affording family sleeping options with a jack and jill bathroom between them. There is also another bed and bathroom downstairs.

    At the back of the property is a two car garage that has never been used as a garage ( used for Storage) with another studio apartment above. This is sometimes rented for an additional cost if a large family would like to rent the entire compound. This studio contains queen bed, living room with queen pull out, a complete kitchen and laundry and has two decks, both of which overlook a wooded lot adjacent to the back of the property.

    The two spaces are separated by a courtyard and do not impact the privacy of either house as all the activity areas of each space face in opposite directions. It is, but not often rented separately, but usually reserved for our use or the use of our family if occupied

    What is special about your town?
    I believe that Edgartown is one of the most beautiful towns in America. The benefits of the location are listed above. my own feeling is this. Martha's vineyard taught me that the best things in life are free. I get so much enjoyment out of riding the bike paths, enjoying the scenery and relaxing on the beach... absolutely no cost to enjoy these things. Come see for yourself
