Our home is a family home that was build by my father in the late seventies. My brother and I spent every summer on the Vineyard until my parents moved to the island full time in the nineties. After my parents passed I have continued to be part of the Chilmark Community. In the off season our family lives in Metro Boston where I am a teacher. My husband is an avid fisherman and we all love to dig for clams and oysters and spend time on the water. I went to the Chilmark Community Center Camp as a child, and our daughter now goes to the CCC. As my parents did before me we love to entertain and the house is set up in an open floor plan with bedrooms set on either side, perfect for spending time with family and for entertaining.

What is special about this property?
Our home set on three acres of land on Prospect Hill in Chilmark was built by my father in 1977. My dad was a builder-developer who included many innovative design ideas like a free standing fireplace, spiral staircase, window seat, skylights and custom cherry wood walls. Both of my parents were eclectic collectors of artwork and the house features the work of local island artists. The out door grounds evolved over time to include Washington Ledesma totem sculptures and Jim Gary Roadrunner. The interior of the house includes stained glass by Barney Zeitz and sculptures by Tom Maley. The property connects to the Menemsha Hills reservation where there are spectacular trails for hiking including Prospect Hill, the Brickyard and the Great Dune beach.

What is special about your town?
Chilmark is a beautiful part of the island that includes some of the best beaches on the island. Menemsha beach and harbor is picturesque and hosts the Home Port Restaurant and Larson's Fish market where you can order raw bar and lobsters and then eat on Menemsha beach. Lucy Vincent Beach and Squibnocket are some of the most beautiful exclusive beaches on Martha's Vineyard. You can go to the town hall with your lease and obtain a pass for these beaches. Aquinnah is also a short trip on the Menemsha bike ferry and hosts the lovely cliff beaches and fun Aquinnah shops. Check out the Chilmark Store for great pizza and celebrity sightings!
