Description

Description

Location, Location, Location!! This oceanfront beach house has panoramic water views, and is located in the National Seashore. Your private dune access to Lecount Hollow Beach is only steps away. Enjoy great surf, body, and skim boarding, or seashell collecting on one of Cape Cod's nicest beaches. If fishing is your thing, set up your surf rods and catch ''keepah'' stripers right from the beach.

This ''upside down'' house has three bedrooms downstairs and the open kitchen and living area upstairs, so that you can spend every waking moment staring out across the open sea. Sleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach. The large wraparound decks are perfect for dining, or just soaking up the sun/shade. Bilevel decks have been completely rebuilt with trex (no splinters). Enjoy panoramic ocean views from both levels. We have also added direct slider access to the lower deck from two of the bedrooms.

High speed internet through Comcast cable to the house and wireless router inside.

Cancellation Policy:
If Tenant wishes to cancel his/her reservation, the deposit will be refunded as follows: 100% less $200.00 cancellation fee if cancelled 15 days prior to the Check-in Date and the cottage is successfully rented to another party at the same rent. Every effort will be made to rebook the cottage at that rate. In the event of a rebooking at a lower rate, the difference would be subtracted from the initial deposit.

    What a view!

This is a lovely home with a fantastic view of the rolling ocean and sand dunes of Cape Cod. The layout of the home is inviting and functional. The panoramic windows and deck are amazing. We enjoyed the beautiful sunrise each morning and the sounds of the waves. The location is great for exploring villages and restaurants in the area. We especially appreciated the fantastic coffee shop and bakery only a few minutes down the street. The home was clean and ready for our arrival. Communication with the home owner Anne was seamless. I would recommend this home and hope to visit again. show more show less

    Great house in perfect location

We had a wonderful late-summer stay. The house is comfortable with all the amenities and the location could not be better. The outside decks offer a great sights and sounds of the ocean, with the house just steps away to a beautiful and uncrowded beach. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The listing is accurate and Anne and the caretaker are responsive to any questions/needs. Highly recommend.

    At the Sun and Sea

I'm a Canadian and have been renting vacation homes in Wellfleet since the 1990s and have been going there since I was a young child. This rental - Sol y Mar - is the best I've ever rented, in every way. You're literally steps from the bluffs of Cape Cod National Seashore at Leacount Hollow beach. You're steps from Ocean View Drive - one of the most beautiful slices of road in the US. Almost anywhere in this home - and everywhere on the second floor - you can see the Atlantic Ocean. You can gaze at the stars at night from the immense second floor deck. And, if you're tired of cooking, you have the PB Boulanger Bistro 10-15 minutes away by foot, or two minutes in the car. This rental home comes with my strongest recommendation. show more show less

    Solymar is SPECIAL!

We have been off-season renters in Maine for many years. Solymar was the first house we rented at the Cape and there has been no reason to look elsewhere! The cottage is private, beautifully designed as an "upside down house" with wide ocean views and spectacular sunrises from the upstairs living/dining area. The cottage is clean, comfortable, nicely furnished, and very well equipped. Clearly the owners keep up with the challenges of owning oceanside property by making regular improvements and maintaining the rental both inside and out.

There is an appeal to renting off season. The summertime crowds have left, yet there are many year-round restaurants in the area and plenty of choices for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The weather can be a bit tricky. This April, we had front row seats to a Nor'easter with wind gusts in the 60s and a fierce and angry ocean. It was fascinating to watch, yet Solymar kept us safe –and we never even lost power!

Bring your puzzles, reading materials, cool and warm weather clothing, bicycles, beach walking shoes, wine, and good food and you will have a relaxing oceanside experience! (Leave the work laptop and phone behind!

Anne has been a wonderful and responsive host. It shows that she loves the Cape and this property. We look forward to our return later this fall!

    Our Favorite Thanksgiving Getaway

5 out of 5 - We've stayed at Solymar 3 times and each time has been better than the last. Beautiful views, picturesque sunsets, the sound of waves coming in while we slept: this is just part of the awesome experience we had at Solymar. We couldn't believe we were able to see right whales and humpback whales from the living room. We slept well in the super comfortable bed and enjoyed spending time with our dog on the local beaches. For a real treat, we recommend you visit Duck Harbor Beach for awesome sunsets. The house's secluded location also offers a peaceful slice of heaven. show more show less

Fabulous Time - We will be back.

We spent two fabulous weeks at this oceanside retreat. Upon arrival the house was spotless and welcoming This private location with stairs (lots of them) to the beach, close to restaurants, rail trail etc. is perfect. Arrangements prior to arrival went very smoothly with the homeowner (Anne).
The home is very comfortable and the beautiful views/sounds are exactly what you would envision. We would recommend this place to anyone and are looking forward to future visits.

    Amazing in every way

Our stay at Sol Y Mar was truly magical in every way. The home is situated in on a peaceful dead end street with stairs to a private beach. The stairs are a bit challenging, but worth the serenity of the sound of crashing waves. The Kitchen is well appointed with everything a "foodie" could want. Two of the Bedrooms have Sliders that open to a deck which you only share with Bunnies munching on the grass. If you are in need of recharging body and spirit this is the place for you!

    Phenomenal views and amazing walks!

We spent a week in this bright and sunny cottage, with a large deck overlooking the ocean. My 90-year-old dad managed to go up and down the steps to the beach (practically right outside the door!) but it is a very short walk down the road (or a two minute drive) if you'd prefer to just walk down the sand dune.

The location is convenient to everything Wellfleet offers, but without a doubt, the selling point for us was the daily view, the lovely yard and sound of the ocean outside your bedrooms, and the opportunity to walk that astounding beach each day. Don't miss the sunrises! Cottage was clean, and kitchen had everything you'd need. show more show less

    Great Stay at Solymar

We had the pleasure of staying at the Solymar house last summer. When you first walk up the stairs in the main living space - WOW! is the word that comes to mind. The view is beautiful with big windows and huge deck facing the Atlantic. The kitchen is new and has everything you need. You're minutes away from a private staircase heading down the dunes to the beach. Just be warned, the stairs are not for the feint of heart. The good news is your about a 2 minute drive to Lecount Hollow Beach if the steep stairs are not your thing. The house is neat and and is well laid out, with the bedrooms downstairs and the living space upstairs to enjoy the views. You're close to the Beachcomber and a short drive to Wellfleet Center. The house is small, but you spend most of the time on the deck anyway. The hosts are very thoughtful and welcoming. We are definitely planning on going back. show more show less

My parents bought a cottage on this street in 1963. I spent my summers from then until 1978 here, working for the Cape Cod National Seashore in the later years. Now I have the joy of bringing my children and grandchildren here each summer.

What is special about this property?
The Ocean side of Wellfleet is a place like no other. Thanks to the institution of the CCNS in 1961, the beach and the surrounding area are just as unspoiled as it was when I was a child.

This cottage was lovingly built and remodeled by Sol and Maria Cohen and their daughter, Michelle and her husband. We appreciate how they built it to make the most of the expansive Ocean view. The ''upside down'' house makes the most of the living space in the day and keeps the bedrooms cool in the evenings.
