This unique setting enjoys a single family home plus a detached 2-bedroom cottage on a fantastic 1/2 acre lot just a 4 minute walk to Mayo Beach or 15 minute walk to downtown with all the fun things included like Kayaks, beach chairs, and more. The Main house has three bedrooms, two living rooms, 1.5 baths, an outdoor shower, plus a 1500 +/-sf huge basement converted to an incredible Rec Room with Ping Pong, Air Hockey, Darts, Weights, and tennis & pickleball rackets for your use while the detached two bedroom cottage is perfect separate space for families or grandparents traveling together who appreciate their own space at the end of the day. Incredibly, this end of Mayo Beach is still public (and free) but it is very, very quiet because people don't bother to walk all the way down to the west end from the parking lot so it makes it almost vacant even in the height of summer -- 4th of July weekend there was one other family there besides us! This is our own family vacation home, and we love to share it with people who enjoy and respect it as much as we do.
When we time it, it takes us just 4 minutes to walk to the beach... 8 minutes to walk to the public playground/ skateboard park/ tennis courts or the ''Bookstore Restaurant''... 11 minutes to walk to ''The Pearl'' or ''Mac's On The Pier'' for some fried clams or a soft serve with Jimmies... 15 minutes to walk to Main Street downtown... and it's an easy 1 mile to ''Mac's Shack'' (my personal favorite!) That is exactly why -- after looking at every house for sale in Wellfleet for almost 2 years -- I bought this fantastic home for my family and friends to love and enjoy; the fabulous accessibility makes this place a rare find. If you wish to drive to Mayo Beach instead, it has ample free parking in a large public lot just down the road.
Inside, the home still enjoys many of the original features that the prior owners loved for 39 years, including peacock green carpet, OG linoleum, and a seashell shaped bathroom sink! More updates are planned eventually, but in the meantime we hope you find these flashes from the past as charming and Capey as we do.
The main house has three bedrooms set up as 1) Queen 2) Queen and 3) Two Bunk Beds for a total of 4 twin sized beds in one large bedroom, along with one full bathroom, one half bathroom, and an outdoor shower. And just in case for an extra hot summer night without the usual on-shore breeze, there is a window AC unit in each bedroom. The detached cottage is set up as 1) Queen and 2) Twin-over-full Bunk with a full bathroom and kitchenette (fridge, sink, coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, but no stove.)
The kitchen is small but fully stocked with a dishwasher, brand new Thor commercial electric range, refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, and all of the cooking accessories that a chef will need -- including but not limited to immersion blender, regular blender, 6-Qt Dutch Oven, grater, casserole dishes, baking sheets, Crock-pot, electric fryer, hand mixer, and more. Cutlery, dishes, and glassware are all provided (along with a full set of smaller plastic dishes, cutlery, and cups for the visiting children and toddlers!)
The large basement doubles as Bonus Space with not only the washer & dryer, but also many entertainment options like Ping Pong, Darts, and Air Hockey. There is Premium High Speed free Wi-fi throughout the main house, a small desk and office chair, and a Brother MFC-L3777OCDW Color Laser printer & scanner for those pesky work needs. For additional in-home entertainment you will find an assortment of DVDs (for both kids and adults) as well as books, games, and puzzles. The outside of the home has a front yard that is fun for a casual game of Bocce Ball or Ladder Ball (both available for your use), a back deck with a propane Barbecue, and a large perimeter yard -- even better, to make sure you can enjoy it, I have ''Mosquito Squad'' on contract to spray bi-weekly with their natural, non-toxic, mosquito & tick barrier spray. Of course it would not be Cape Cod without an outdoor shower, and there is a private one along with a pull-handle Beach Cart to help you ferry things to and from the beach and 2 Kayaks available for your use along with paddles, beach chairs, beach loungers, towels, and umbrellas.
The home comes with all bed linens, blankets, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, and beach towels included for your use if you don't want to have to bring them with you (as you may know, many rentals charge extra for these items because they are using a service to launder and provide them. I do not charge extra, but I will ask you to please start the laundry before you leave to give the cleaners a head start.)
Although I have no toddlers anymore, I well remember the days of packing a warehouse of items just to leave the house for a weekend. With that in mind and to spare you the headache, I also have on-site a Graco Pack and Play Change 'n Carry (functions as both crib and changing table), a Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat (functions as either a High Chair or a Booster Seat) as well as a box of protective outlet covers in case you wish to install them while you are here.
I have 4 children and this is also our fantastic summer home when we are not letting you borrow it, so there are many items and features that we have here for fun, convenience, and enjoyment.
