This unique property is on a tidal island, surrounded by both Conservation and Mass Audubon land, with no development beyond the homes tucked away in the woods. Just a short walk away from several Bay beaches.
The location is stunning; overlooking marshes with the bay in the distance and water views from all the windows. The house is extremely comfortable and well-appointed, showered in light, from its southern exposure.
There is one Queen bedroom on the first floor with the other two bedrooms (one Queen, the Master, and the other with two twins) located on the 2nd floor. With three comfy, recently reupholstered sofas, there is no excuse not to have a lie down.
As comfortable, spacious and light as the house is, the crowned jewel is the location on a wild tidal island surrounded by water. This special place is clearly not for everyone, as one needs to plan one's time around certain high tides, when you can't drive either onto or off the island with your car, because of the flooding on the road leading to the bridge on/off the island. That is, of course, when the fun begins, neighbors heading to the bridge to jump into the creek and float around on the incredible tides. Many times, guests have walked thru a water-covered road, just for the fun of it. It's a truly wonderful, communal experience.
Given the wildness of the island, a nature lover's oasis to be sure; replete with birds, foxes & fiddler crabs, oh my, one feels truly connected with nature, likely to be a most relaxing vacation, indeed.
Kids can spend hours playing in the tidal pools, catching crabs and minnows and enjoying pick-up play dates. Biking and jogging are but some of the many activities one can do on the dirt roads. Of course, there are always sunsets to be enjoyed from nearby Loagy Bay. If you are so inclined, you can drive into Wellfleet, to eat oysters and pick up fresh fish to prepare for your evening meal or, for a fun filled evening, check out the drive-in theater, one of only 336 in the U.S.
The town is adorable, with lots going on, but most of our guests are content to spend their time communing with nature on the island.
For those concerned about the lack of air conditioning, it can be in the 80's during the day, but the evenings are often cool, with lots of cross breezes in the bedrooms. Additionally, in addition to each room having either a box or oscillating fan, we now have several ceiling fans on the first floor. Another recent development is the changeover from satellite to underground cable internet, so much faster & more reliable.
Another note of interest, a world renowned bird author/illustrator spent his holiday here, identifying the very rare double ringed plover at 'our' beach! Come see natural beauty all around you!
