Highland House-Pleasant Point: Peaceful Home w/Central AC

The Highland House was perfect for my husband and me, our 2 adult kids and their spouses, and 2 grandkids (ages 4 and 1). The house has a well-stocked kitchen, ample bedrooms, a nice open living room and dining area, and a spacious play area with toys and books. The outdoor spaces are very relaxing and enjoyable as well. The neighborhood is very quiet, and there is plenty of outdoor seating and everything needed to grill. We enjoyed playing, sitting, and eating outdoors, and I enjoyed reading in the hammock while the grandkids napped. Plenty of shade and no bugs!

The house is also very conveniently located. Pleasant Landing is an easy walk from the house and a nice place to walk during down time. The Cape Cod Rail Trail (where 4 of us ran every morning) is less than a mile from the house. It is also a short drive to several beaches and kettle ponds. The kettle ponds were perfect for the grandkids. Provincetown is about a 25-minute drive for whale watching tours, dining, and shopping. Orleans is also about a 25-minute drive. We drove there our last night for brick oven pizza at Rock Harbor Grill. It was delicious! There are also plenty of good restaurants, ice cream shops, and miniature golf in Wellfleet, all under 10-minute drives from the Highland House.

I can't say enough good things about Ricki. She is very responsive. She quickly responded to all my emails and questions. She also has a lot of helpful information at the house for her guests. During our stay, she was kind enough to bring us more garbage bags when we ran out. I have been at other rentals where things like paper towels, dish soap, and garbage bags weren't even provided. Ricki provides those types of items so you don't have to haul them with you or spend money on items you will only use a few of and end up leaving behind. It was nice to meet her in person. She is a lovely person and wonderful host. I would stay at the Highland House again and recommend it to others. show more show less

We were looking for a house on the outer Cape for nature and birdwatching, and were happy to find and stay in the Highland House. The house was stocked with everything we needed. During the off season the neighborhood was also extremely quiet. We were able to see some nesting species like Red-breasted Nuthatch, Wild Turkey, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, and Sharp-shinned Hawk. Within a short walk we were also able to see several species of shorebirds. We're not beach people, and it was a little too cold to swim anyway, but we were able to find a few quiet and beautiful fishing ponds. show more show less

Highland House is just lovely, and is perfectly set up for enjoying a wonderful vacation on the Cape. We really loved spending time on the deck and having our meals there, and the kitchen was equipped with everything we could need, plus lots more besides! The floor plan worked out very well for us, including a family member in her 90s. There are some steps to get into the house, but once you're inside, the home is easy to get around, and it has a step-in shower in the master bedroom.
/>One member of our party kept remarking on how spotless everything was, and when we arrived we felt so welcomed by a number of extra special touches, including fresh lilacs, a bottle of wine and a bag of coffee.

The homeowners were pleasant, responsive and extremely accommodating and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed.

Our group was small, but this home would work equally as well with a larger group, especially during warm weather when people can use the outdoor shower. We were fortunate to enjoy some lovely spring weather during our stay and actually did make use of the outdoor shower.

It's a great home and a great location--very peaceful. I would totally recommend it. I only hope that we will have the opportunity to return before too long!

My family was only intending to stay in another house we had booked many months ago in Wellfleet for Labor Day week but had to cancel that due to a medical issue. That house was not available the following week. We feel that we truly lucked out when we found Highland House. Because we got an off-season rate we decided to stay for 2 weeks. We loved every minute of our stay. We brought kayaks with us because the house is in a great location for paddling, including amazing sunset paddles. My wife and I have rented houses and apartments on 4 continents and this house may have the best equipped kitchen of all of them. It also has wonderful decorations throughout. We appreciated the beach chairs so that we didn't have to bring them. We also used the charcoal grill several nights. The bedroom setup, 2 bathrooms, and living room - dining room seating make the house very comfortable. There is plenty of dresser and closet space and we appreciated having night tables and lamps on each side of the bed. There is central heat and A/C, although we didn't need to use it much.

The highlight for my 2 children (they are in their 30's) was the finished basement space with comfy seating and a large screen tv with Netflix. Ricki was great to deal with, providing information before our stay, having lots of it in the house, and checking in with us during ours stay just to make sure everything was all right. My daughter in particular loved the outdoor shower and we appreciated having 2 driveways because we came in 2 cars. And of course because of the pandemic the cleanliness of the house was especially important and impressive to us. What else can I say? We have been coming to Wellfleet for decades and my whole family agreed that this was just about the best house and location ever. show more show less

Highland House is the perfect spot to get away for a while. This is not our first time staying there and we will absolutely be back. The house and the area provide plenty of activities for our family. We enjoyed relaxing in the hammock and hanging out and eating dinner on the front porch. Lots of room for the kids and the adults to have their own space within the house. The bay is right down the street and the kids enjoyed catching crabs and cooling off in the water. The owner's were great and readily available if we had any questions. The house is up to date and had everything we needed and was located close to both the beaches and the ponds. I highly recommend a week away at the Highland House and look forward to returning again next year. show more show less

Perfect home for our family with young kids- was so convenient that they had toys, books, games and pack n play. We loved the open layout, spacious bedrooms, and most of all- the deck where we ate most meals and the outdoor shower! There was plenty of shade and no flies or mosquitoes. Location was convenient to downtown and the beaches/ponds, and we enjoyed walking the marsh just down the street. The house is extremely clean- and cleaned with the same disinfectant we use in the hospital, so it felt safe with the coronavirus. Ricki was also very kind to let us come up a day later to give more space between rentals. She checked in and was quick to answer any questions. Our family of four, including little kids, had a great time staying here. The house itself was very comfortable and the games, books, beach chairs, and boogie boards were very handy. We’d happily stay here again!

My family just thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Highland House. The beds are comfortable, the floorboards don't creak, there's climate control, the kitchen is modern and pleasant ... basically we found the house far more comfortable and well equipped than others we've rented in the same price range. No water view is the only drawback, but it's just a short and pleasant walk to Pleasant Point- great water access for kayaks and beachcombing for kids.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a delight to host Denell and her family.
