* * Welcome Packet * *
Guests who book directly w/ us receive a ''Welcome Packet'' about 2 weeks before their vacation week(s). This includes counter-signed copy of your short term lease -- has our phone numbers, directions to the house, key, ''proof of stay'' form for beach pass & info about the house & the area. The key to the house has a Priority Mail (we've paid the postage) envelope to return the key.

** NO PETS **
No matter how well trained a dog (or cat) is, fleas hide in the tall grasses of Cape Cod. A flea infestation would be a disaster for us & our other tenants. Animal dander could cause a health crisis for guests w/ allergies. An ''oops'' on a rug or upholstered furniture would be * impossible * for our housekeeper to remedy before the next tenant arrives. Unlike a hotel, we do not have ''spare'' furniture & rugs stored away for emergencies.
Therefore, ** NO PETS **.

We accept L - O - N - G weekend rentals (3-night minimum) in the fall.

* * Changeover Cleanings * *
Our housekeeper (Victoria) is meticulous. Her attention to detail -- including a new table cloth for every new tenant -- guarantees that our tenants will not be disappointed with the condition of the house when they arrive for their vacation.

Victoria changes many essential items during each changeover cleaning (mattress pads, pillow protectors, shower curtain, & more). There will be an initialed & dated checklist on kitchen counter for you to see what has been done.

* * Handy man * *
Chris is our handy man extraordinaire. He responds the same day -- often within hours. Knowledgeable, friendly, courteous -- we know we can depend on him when our tenants need something fixed ''now''.

* * Child Safety * *
When our daughter was a toddler, we made sure that the house was safe for her. The deck features latched gates that little fingers cannot open. There are ''Safety First'' child safety cabinet locks for the sink cabinets, plug socket covers, & a door knob cover for the basement door.

* * Linens * *
We do * not * provide linens. However, if you do not want to pack sheets & towels, we provide contact information for an outstanding, local linen service. They drop off & pick up. (Very popular w/ our European tenants!)

Best of Wellfleet --

Beaches! 4 ocean beaches (Newcomb Hollow, Cahoon Hollow, White Crest, Maguire Landing), 3 bay beaches (Indian Neck, Mayo Beach -- no parking pass required, Duck Harbor), 3 fresh water ''kettle ponds'' (Gull Pond, Long Pond, Great Pond) -- AND -- the Marconi National Seashore ocean beach (per day fee)

Walking trails: Cedar Swamp Trail (Marconi Site) & Great Island (self-guided trails)

Art Galleries (around town) are wonderfully diverse. There are wine & cheese openings at most galleries on Saturday evenings during the summer.

Wellfleet Drive-in & Cinemas -- one of the country's last drive-in movie theaters, also has 6 air conditioned, indoor movie theaters (matinees on rainy days), & one of the area's best flea markets -- Saturday, Sunday & Wednesday.

Restaurants (many!) -- The Wicked Oyster (excellent Sunday brunch), Moby Dick's (kid friendly), The Boathouse (cooked take-out lobster), Box Lunch (home of the ''Rollwich'' & ''Kidwich'' -- amazing wraps) -- to name just a few.

In Town Shopping -- Wellfleet Marketplace (more than ''just groceries'', open 7 AM to 8 PM -- 7 days a week), Abiyoyo (tees, games, gifts !), Hatch's Fish & Produce Market (town hall parking lot), Mac's Seafood (on the town pier) -- and so much more.

The Wellfleet Public Library -- Services include internet & wireless access, photocopier, fax, & a schedule of programs for children & adults. Visitors are welcome to set up a library card.

''Hidden Treasure'' -- library card holders can check out visitor passes -- which give DEEP discounts -- to many Cape Cod area attractions.

When our daughter was in elementary school, we visited the Mayflower II (full size replica of the original ship) & Plimouth Plantation (recreation of the 1627 Pilgrim Village), w/ authentically dressed interpreters who stay ''in character'' while they talk to you. (Excellent!)

Admissions fees w/ a library pass are -- VERY -- budget friendly.

Area Attractions:

Provincetown offers whale watch boats, Pilgrim Monument, Portuguese bakery (''fried dough'' / bread pudding / meat pies), shops of all kinds, restaurants & entertainment. For authentic ''Cape Cod'' tees, sweatshirts, mugs, etc -- visit Cuffy's. There are several salt water taffy stores as well -- pick your own selection bags or boxes.

The Province Lands Visitor Center (Race Point) has an observation deck which provides a 360-degree view of the Province Lands dunes, the Outer Beach & the Atlantic Ocean -- also numerous biking trails & beaches.

Truro Winery (tastings, local wines & gift items) - treat yourself to local wines or Truro Winery will ship your gifts to your friends.

Salt Pond Visitor Center (Eastham) is Cape Cod National Seashore's main visitor facility, w/ a theater, bookstore, museum, & restrooms (self-guided trails, Park Service guided tours).

    Great time

    My husband grew up going to the Cape in the summer and we've rented in Wellfleet in previous years. This was a really great house that suited all of our needs. We're a family of 6 and this was a perfect fit. Plenty of room for cooking, dining and relaxing. Outdoor showers are the best! Kids used the pingpong table in the basement. We brought our bikes and skim boards and used the space under the deck to store them. Everything is in good working order and as presented and very clean!

    Great location!

    We had a lovely stay on Nancy's property in Wellfleet. The location is ideal, close to town and the beaches yet also allows for plenty of privacy. The house is bright and sunny with an open floor plan. The deck was wonderful for our early morning coffee and dinner in the evening.The outdoor shower was very handy for sandy feet and salty bodies. We had all the information about the house sent to us in the spring, even the forms for the beach passes. Nancy is very organized.
    Nancy is a great host and very accommodating. We would definitely rent again. We had a great week!

    Great house and location

    I recently stayed with my boyfriend at this property. It was exactly as advertised in the listing. We really enjoyed our time there and spent many hours the deck, and we're really glad there was a grill available to us. The house is very comfortable and inviting. A welcome packet with the key and instructions was sent a couple of weeks ahead of our arrival, I was very impressed with how organized Nancy was.
    The location of the house was very close to downtown Wellfleet, Mayo Beach, Mac's Seafood and the Pearl restaurant. We had a great visit and I would definitely stay here again. show more show less

    Comfortable, Clean, Excellent Communication

    We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation with this home as our base. The house was spacious and immaculately clean. Nancy communicated clearly and responded to questions promptly! We enjoyed the beautiful slider off the master bedroom for breezy, comfortable sleeping. We also enjoyed stargazing from the deck in the evening. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cookware (if you want a break from the excellent restaurants in town). The location was very quiet but also just a short walk to town. It was a great home base for our extensive exploration of the outer Cape, nothing was too long of a drive but it felt 'off the beaten path'. Thanks, Nancy! show more show less

    Clean and comfortable

    We had a wonderful time here on our vacation. It is the perfect location for exploring Wellfleet and the surrounding areas. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and having many of our meals on the spacious outdoor deck. There was plenty of room for us to spread out. It was a very comfortable space. We've rented many homes in the area, and this was by far the cleanest place we've stayed in. It was immaculate!

    Wonderful house!

    We had a great time staying at this house! Enjoyed some lovely meals on the deck, and we and the kids loved the spacious downstairs and balcony off the bedroom upstairs. Easy drive to all the places we wanted to go. We can't wait to go back!

    Alice, I'm so glad that you and husband and your children had such a good week! As you well know, Wellfleet is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the clean air, the sound of the waves (on your favorite ocean and / or bay beach) and the landscape of Cape Cod. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. N.

    Perfect Home Away from Home

    My husband and I had a lovely week in this beautiful Wellfleet house. Nancy was very organized and helpful with providing us with lots of area information to make the most of our time there. The house was very clean and quite spacious. Loved the deck! Perfect for enjoying my morning cup of coffee! And evening glass of wine, of course! The house is centrally located and easily walkable to/from downtown. Also the house is located on a hill so you get a wonderful breeze throughout the day! The neighborhood was very quiet so perfect for relaxing and sleeping in. Perfect place for a relaxing and rejuvenating week at the Cape. We will be back!! show more show less

    This house worked out perfectly for us for a week vacation. A nice quiet location. Sunny deck in the back overlooking a nice wooded area. Good for local walks and just a short drive to many shops and restaurants. The owners provide very detailed info about the house and procedures.
    Bright inside, and opening a few windows created a nice cross breeze.

    June 21, 2022, Scott and Bridget, Thank you so much for your kind words. My husband and I have always thought that Wellfleet is a delightful place to just "be" for a time. And, I am delighted that the house provided you with a quiet base for your excursions. I sincerely hope that you will come back again. (Next year?) Have a lovely summer! Nancy D

    Great location and privacy

    The house has a very appealing design and it is very well located at walking distance from Wellfleet center --which is exactly what we are looking for. We enjoyed the view to the backyard from the balcony and the deck. Mosquitoes at this time of the year prevented prolonged evening enjoyment of either, though.
    The only (though serious) drawback I encountered was that my unusual back and hip pain (was it caused by carrying a heavy suitcase upstairs?) was not soothed by the firmness of the coil mattress. I tried the one in the downstairs bedroom in case changing rooms would be warranted, but the feeling was the same. show more show less

    Dear Ben and Renata, We are so glad that our house met your vacation needs. My husband and I will be inquiring with the neighbors regarding this year's mosquito issue. I will update you when we learn what the neighbors on our street are doing about this issue. We hope that you will return to Wellfleet again! Wishing you a lovely fall and a happy holiday season! My husband & I fell in love with Cape Cod when we were in college. When we were first married, we rented a cottage on Old Wharf Rd & began dreaming about ''some day'' having a home of our own in this beautiful town.

    The dream became a reality when we built our house on Daniels Drive. We love Wellfleet & enjoy sharing this ''jewel'' with others. Small wonder that our Wellfleet house is more ''home'' to our daughter than our year-round home. She's been coming to the Cape (Wellfleet) since she was 2 months old. As a family, we never tire of beach walks - even in winter. And, then there are the kayaking adventures in the kettle ponds and around edge of Great Island. Did I mention flea markets? The drive-in movie? Miniature golf? And all the ''free'' stuff at the National Sea Shore Visitors' Center?

    We've also made some long time Wellfleet friends - Judi, Kathy and more. When we see them, it's like ''coming home''.

    We have truly enjoyed sharing the ''treasure'' that is Wellfleet with guests from all over the USA & Europe (Germany, Great Britain, and the Netherlands). It's a delight to be able to share our favorite beaches & restaurants & shops with folks coming to the Cape for the first time or folks returning to the area.

    This house is not ''just'' a rental property, it's our Cape Cod * home *. You'll find personal touches throughout the house - photos of Wellfleet, a ''building the house'' photo collage, & labels on light switches (no ''what does this do?'').

    What is special about this property?
    The street is quiet and private -- absolutely no through traffic on a closed loop! The open floor plan of the Great Room means that whoever is cooking can be part of the game going on at the table or the conversation in the living room area.

    We provide our guests with a ''Welcome Packet'' that contains info about the house, the area, places to eat and grocery shop, etc. And, if ''it'' wasn't in the packet, it's in the ''brochures basket'' which is filled with pamphlets & flyers from restaurants, nature trails, boat cruises, whale watches & the ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. And, this collection of brochures ''grows'' as the season progresses as guests add their ''favorites'' to the ''library'' of what the area has to offer.

    We're close to anything you might want to see or do -- shows (Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater or drive to Provincetown for cabaret show), biking, fishing, self-guided nature walks, etc. And, at the end of the day, after a (hot) shower in the enclosed outdoor shower, you can relax on the deck. It's so quiet -- just you and maybe a few birds.

    What is special about your town?
    Wellfleet is ''The Gallery Town''. Time Inc's Coastal Living, the leading authority on coastal home and travel, named Wellfleet, MA to its fourth annual top ten list of America's Happiest Seaside Towns. (Posted on: Feb 27, 2015)

    Located 75 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean, Wellfleet offers quaint rural seaside charm and spectacular natural resources. The Atlantic Ocean is on Wellfleet's east shore. Cape Cod Bay is on the west shore. 61% of Wellfleet's land is in the Cape Cod National Seashore Park. And without the glare of man-made ''city lights'', the stars at night will take your breath away!

    Bay and ocean beaches, fresh water ponds, (13 town beaches in all plus Marconi National Seashore beach!) Bike Trails including the Cape Cod Rail Trail, Art Galleries, Restaurants, Antique Dealers, Cape Cod's biggest and best Flea Market (!) at the Wellfleet Drive-In and Multi-Screen Movie Theater (has 3D). The playground area includes 1st class tennis courts, a basketball court, play structures that engage a child's imagination, and a Skate Board Park. The Town Pier has a Marina, Boat Launching Ramp and numerous boat slips. Also available: Wind Surfing, Kayaking, and Deep Sea Fishing Charters.

    Gull Pond is a kayaker's dream.

    And, in the fall --
    The crowds are gone.
    The sun is warm.
    Beach walks are SO peaceful.
    Go whale watching, bird watching (Atlantic Flyway - Wellfleet Bay - MA Audubon Society), antiquing -- pick your passion.
