Description

A Shady Cottage with a Deck, and walk to the beach. If you enjoy fresh seafood, consider bringing the party to your patio. Visit one of the local fish markets, order your ''clambakes'', and then you and your friends can appreciate a sea breeze with beautiful sunsets, while indulging in Lobsters and shellfish caught locally.
This cottage is one of two nearly identical cottages, located in a shady haven, directly across from a quiet Bay Beach. Both have just recently been updated. Friendship Cottages are in a very desirable area for recreation, and is an especially safe area for children and pets. The convenience of the beach to the cottages enables families flexibility with their schedules. One has immediate access to their own lodging and facilities. This convenience can reduce the expenses and stress of beach time. The cottage boasts a small kitchenette, dining area, fireplace and sitting area with television. There are two bedrooms, one with two twin beds and the other with a Queen Bed. Bathrooms have either a shower or a tub shower combo. Outdoor showers are also available. Each has a deck with grill and outdoor seating. All nestled under lovely shady trees.

Friendship Cottages is directly across from a public beach where you can swim in warm protected waters, beachcomb, or anchor your sailboat. It is on a road that is frequented by joggers, walkers, and bicycles. One fourth of a mile down the road is the Yacht Club, where you can play tennis and golf, or take sailing lessons.
Friendship Cottages is accessible to the Best Bay Beaches that Wellfleet has to offer. Duck Harbor and The National Seashore trails are only one mile up the road, and town is a mile down the road. You can take your family and pets for a quiet evening stroll, enjoy the sunsets from Duck Harbor, visit the Pier for a square-dance or Sushi, or wander the Galleries in Town. Wellfleet is at your fingertips from Friendship Cottages.
Walk to the local golf, tennis, and sailing club. Visit the surf of the Massachusetts Bay.
Please note that cell phone service is spotty especially in the summer and there is a steep stair case to the private beach. The grounds are in their natural state.

    House of horrors

Do Not Rent This Home !!!!!! It was so disgusting and dirty inside we almost left and wish we did . We couldn’t cook in the kitchen it was so dirty and the frig never really worked, and we had to throw all our food out . We tried to cook on the grill and the grill blew up in my brother's face . The outside shower had a bees nest in it so we couldn’t use that. The shower had cob webs and was so dirty. We had to clean all the bathrooms just to use them. The house looked like it had been closed up for years with all the dust and cobwebs everywhere . We complained to the owner and they sent their niece over with a carpet sweeper to sweep the rugs ( which was the least of our worries).

One of the days it rained which came pouring through the ceiling all through the house. In one of the bedrooms, half the ceiling was missing and the other part was rotting out . I could go on and on but it could take forever!!! The owners never reimbursed us for any of the money, and on top of that tried to cash our cleaning deposit!!! A total scam !! Please do not rent this property. It was a nightmare!!!!

    Not what I was expecting!

I have been renting in Wellfleet for the last 25 years and this house was the worst . The house was run down and outdated . The views could be spectacular but the overgrown weeds and trees ruined the views . Very disappointed!

    Owner Response:

Hello and thank you for your note. This home has been in our family for 58 years, we have been renting since 1985. We have had many, many, multi-generational families and guests that are delighted with our home and the view -- so we are shocked and very sorry to hear your dissatisfaction. We work hard to please, and glad to to address your concerns about the view -- as soon as you called us -- and, in addition, have now decided to remove the tree that was dissatisfying to you.

Our home is on a dune, overlooking Cape Cod Bay and the National Seashore, so it is on very delicate land, and we have to be careful not to destabilize the dune. Brand new homes are rarely found in such a location - and the location would no longer be zoned for building, regardless.

I am glad that you and your ten guests had sufficient space and privacy. We are committed to continue to update the fixtures to this classic Cape Cod home.

    A great experience

Our extended family of nine, plus 2 dogs, had a wonderful time at the Currier rental property. It was just what we wanted: a comfortable, relaxing place with a large family room for reading, playing games, hanging out, and eating meals at a huge table large enough to seat us all. The bedrooms suited us well with plenty of bathrooms, privacy, and gorgeous views from most of them. The setting, overlooking the Bay, was breathtaking and the location was convenient to all the things we like to do, including tennis, biking, ponds, beaches, and trips into town. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, but was a small space.

    Best view great place

What an amazing place! Spent the week here with a group of friends, and the view of the bay is breathtaking. Elizabeth was communicative, friendly, and helpful, and we all felt right at home. The fireplace was great for the one rainy day. and the great room was comfy and quirky. The view and bay access made us not want to leave :) only complaint - our stay was too short :)

Peaceful, Spacious Home with Lovely Views

This is a lovely home great for a number of people to gather and have privacy as well as a central gathering area. There are plenty of amenities including a grill outside in an outdoor shower as well as a patio that is private for each of the master bedrooms.

There are many windows and breathtaking views. A delightful breeze comes over the bluff. The private beach is a real bonus for sailing, kayaking, or just long walks.

Make sure to shop at the Stop and Shop before you come up to Wellfleet as you can save a good bit of money. The house is well supplied with bathrooms but bring towels and sheets. The family communicates very well and has a lot of insights on local restaurants and activities. The ponds and ocean are a must! But try to get to the beach before 10 am as at the height of the season as it can get crowded

    We will definitely visit again.

This location is terrific! You can walk or kayak to the National Seashore and to the local pier to get ice cream or local shellfish. The house has a view of sunsets from the patio overlooking Cape Cod bay, with views across the Bay of Plymouth and the Bourne Bridge on a clear day. This is a very private location.

The owners provide quick communication. We would rent again, certainly!

Hello! We love Wellfleet and our family has been here for three generations. At one point, there were over 18 cousins in the Currier Compound. Originally from Boston, we now travel from over 500 miles away to be here. The family has grown-so cousins, Aunts and Uncles gather over lobster and grilled oysters. We are avid sailors, love to play tennis or golf at CYCC which is just down the street!
This is a fabulous gallery town, with tons of local restaurants, fresh seafood, kettle ponds, kayaking, and beautiful National Seashore. Our properties are tailored for your enjoyment with all amenities you may need and we are happy to give you sailing lessons or local insight for secluded beaches. We know (or have worked at) the BEST restaurants and our cousin can sell you some fresh oysters.
No matter your preference- reading a book on the deck, surfing at any of the 7 ocean beaches or evening walks on the beach on the property- we are excited for you to be here.

What is special about this property?
All of our properties are on the beach- either down the stairs or cross the street. Super convenient- you cant get any better. If you choose to stay home while others go to the beach, you can stare across Cape Cod Bay from the deck on the property. All the properties have an outdoor shower (which is lovely when the moon is full), plenty of parking, dishes, utensils, big bowls for delicious salad, lobster crackers, lots of glasses, outdoor grill, a large stove and air conditioning upon request. Some times in the fall it gets cold so we offer a fire place (in all but one property) with lots of pillows and blankets. (Linens and towels available upon request).

If you would like to rent a kayak or sail boat let us know- we could even provide lessons!

What is special about your town?
Wellfleet is known as the gallery town, but is truly best known for the Wellfleet Oysters. It has fresh water kettle ponds, vast ocean beaches, bay swimming, sailing, kayaking as well as a local golf course and tennis court within walking distance!
