Description

Wonderful, secluded house. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (one queen plus four twin beds) in an ideal location off Great Hollow Rd. in Truro. Short walk to a pristine beach on Cape Cod Bay with swimming & hiking, gorgeous views and sunsets.

Five minute drive to Long Nook and Head Of The Meadow, spectacular ocean beaches, and many nearby ponds. A ten-minute drive to Provincetown and Wellfleet. This is a fantastic, owner-rented, Cape Cod style family vacation home nestled away in the woods -- private, secluded, quiet, safe, easy to get to and very comfortable. It is also walking distance to anything you need -- the beach, stores, bike trails and even a baseball field at the elementary school up the street. It's a five-minute walk to Truro Village, a wonderful little shopping center with a produce store, an excellent fish market, and across Great Hollow Road is Sweet and Savory restaurant, which has great pastries for breakfast, coffee, newspapers, sandwiches, pizza and really good ice cream.

Ours is a classic Cape Cod home with a well-equipped kitchen, an open, light-filled living room, two bedrooms upstairs and a foyer that can be used by kids to sleep in. We love our new kitchen window and our new dining room lighting. For those warm days we have five fans, while for the colder spring and fall days we have insulation and central baseboard heat. The house is constructed with solid wood flooring and beams and has a great feel. We have digital TV with cable, wireless access, board games, books, stereo; all available for your use.

Folks love the large private deck with umbrella dining table, lounge chairs, Weber grill and retractable awning. We also have a big, finished floor, clean basement with a ping pong table, washer and dryer, three bikes you're welcome to use, several beach chairs and sporting stuff and access to the outside. The house is wired for wireless internet access, the TV/DVD is HD, and our area is serviced by Comcast.

Well-lit wood plank walkway from the flat spacious driveway to the house. Front yard, Surrounded by an acre of well-kept grounds and nice trees, with a great outdoor shower and soothing hammock, this is truly a relaxing and comfortable vacation house. We have owned the house since 1994, and we love it. We want you enjoy it as if it were your house while you are there.

As far as towels/linen, if you are driving to our house, we ask that you bring your own, just so as to make changeovers easier. If you are flying in to the area, we will provide you with towels and linens.

We only have two nonnegotiables: no pets (not negotiable, sorry) and no smoking on the premises (including the deck). The house smells wonderful, and we would like to keep it that way. Thanks.

We rent Saturday to Saturday in July and August. and are flexible in terms of which days and how many days for rentals in May, June, September and October.

We have stayed in this house many times. It's comfortable, relaxing, nestled in the woods, with delightful deck, outdoor shower, short walk to beautiful bay beach with stunning sunsets. Short bike ride or drive to wonderful Long Nook beach on the oceanside. Sweet Escapes restaurant and ice cream shop nearby. Property is always clean and reasonably maintained. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to come to this part of Cape Cod!

This sweet house was just right. We enjoyed the open layout, full kitchen, terrific roomy deck and warm feeling of home. Now that the kids are older they could walk or bike by themselves to the bay beach for swimming, kite flying and playing, and also zip down to the other corner on their bikes for groceries or treats. The house was nicely maintained, clean, and the local manager was incredibly responsive with questions. It was also so helpful to borrow the beach toys and playthings from the basement. We feel more like guests at a family home, less like we were in a rental. I'm coming back next year! show more show less

We have owned this house since 1994, and have been renting it since 2007. This is a family home, and we treat it as such. I am not an absentee owner who depends on a disinterested property manager to simply fill up dates on a calendar. I have a deep personal, emotional connection to the house and the area; I have been coming to this part of the Cape since I was one. Although most of my tenants are long-time renters who I am on a first-name basis with, I am always looking for new folks who'd love to enjoy this wonderful classic Outer Cape house. We make improvements regularly and have a crackerjack team of year-round local professionals who efficiently and discreetly handle everything from regular on-site care-taking, landscaping, trash and recycling pickups to changeover cleanings and capital improvements such as maintaining the deck, tree removal and painting.

What is special about this property?
First of all, the house is wonderful; just the right size for most vacationers, with all the amenities of a Cape house, from the big deck and full finished basement to the outdoor shower (with great water pressure!). It was built in 1976 by the previous owner, and he took great care to use the finest materials and craftsmanship. Second of all, you cannot beat the location; we are a short walk to the gorgeous Great Hollow bay beach, and the same distance the other way to Route 6 (you can hardly hear the cars) and a host of fine businesses, among them two restaurants, a box lunch store, a wonderful family-owned (since 1880) produce stand, a liquor store and a great seafood market. We are a five-minute drive from Head of the Meadow ocean beach with its awesome sand bars and miles of white sand. We are equidistant from both Wellfleet and Provincetown. Lastly it's the entire vibe of the house. When you're staying here it's quiet, relaxing and peaceful--and you feel like you're a guest in someone's home, never a stranger who's simply renting the place for a week or two.

What is special about your town?
Truro is one of the oldest towns in the United States. Pilgrim Pond, in North Truro, is where, in 1620, the Pilgrims spent their second night in the New World. It's also one of the loveliest towns, a gem that combines old fashioned New England architecture, Yankee ingenuity and a deserved reputation for being home to some of the greatest artists and writers of the 20th century. I love that, thanks to John F. Kennedy, the National Seashore that surrounds the town is intact; there will not be large-scale development, high-rises, overcrowding or commercial zoning running rampant in Truro. And the place is spiritual--perhaps that comes with age. The popular attractions? Not theme parks, or shopping malls, big-box stores or tacky tourist traps. No, what my neighborhood offers is peace, quiet, and a soft place for conversation, reflection and inspiration.
