More About Osterville
Osterville is an exclusive seaside community on Nantucket Sound. Elegant waterfront homes, many of which were built in the 19th century, line the main streets. Vacationers enjoy strolling along the village's Main Street and Wianno Avenue with their art galleries, boutiques, and ice cream parlors.
Many inlets and protected harbors provide opportunities for fishing and boating. Beautiful Dowses Beach, which is for residents only, is one of the more popular Cape beaches. It's known for its family atmosphere and some of the warmest water temperatures on the Cape.
Craigville Beach in Centerville is another popular beach and is close by. Another beach is residents-only Joshua's Pond, which is a freshwater pond. Many rental homeowners provide their tenants with a beach/parking pass that allows access to all 14 beaches and boat ramps in the town of Barnstable.
Osterville's central location in the Mid Cape area makes it convenient to Hyannis and its airport, buses, shopping malls, restaurants, and ferries to the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Armstrong-Kelley Park is a lovely and peaceful place to stroll. Maintained by the Cape Cod Horticultural Society, this 8 ½ acre wonderland in the woods is free to the public and displays 650 heath and heather, 250 rhodies and azaleas, and over 100 hollies. The carefully planned gardens and walkways feature something in bloom all times of year.
