Make memories at this private family and pet-friendly 3 BR Orleans antique Cape Cod home with access to Arey’s Pond. Kayak and paddle-board directly to Little Pleasant Bay and beyond. The property was once home to the town tavern on Old County Road en route to Orleans. Enjoy the wrap-around 3 season porch. Antique home with bath and other renovations that were recently completed. We want to share this unique property with those who appreciate the history. Please ask questions!

THE SPACE: This is a very authentic antique Cape Cod home. The rooms are small, the stairs are steep, but the baths and kitchen are updated to add a modern touch, to ensure that you enjoy your stay. to the fullest. The tilt top game console on the 3 season porch offers 3505 retro video games, and there is also a shuffleboard table which is very fun for some friendly competition! The back yard also has an outdoor ping pong table. The 350 yd path out back leads right to Arey’s Pond, and the location is super private and couldn’t be better, honestly! We hope you’ll enjoy your stay and return time and time again to OLD Cape Cod!

GUEST ACCESS: The property has another rental, a 1 BR cottage. Both properties offer privacy and are separated from one another by a new, gated, board fence. See Property ID 40290.

Guests will have exclusive access to the entire house with fenced back yard suitable for dogs. The house is on a private drive accessible from the North and the South, and is set well back off of the main road in a completely private setting that is quite safe for pets. There are many great spots very close by for walking dogs as well. There is a path to Arey’s Pond which is not a beach per se but does allow direct saltwater access for boating, paddle boarding and kayaking. The owners live nearby and have a boat and a mooring so there may be a possibility to arrange a boat ride if you’d like to see the area from the water. Feel free to reach out and ask questions! The path is between 350 and 400 yds long from the house to the water’s edge.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: We do provide four folding beach chairs for use at the many nearby beaches! If more are needed they can be provided on request.     We had a lovely stay over Christmas at Stephen and Siobhan's cottage house! Our 4 and 6 year olds absolutely loved the video game table on the porch. The heat was a bit finicky but Stephen was extremely responsive and helped us troubleshoot. The stairs to the upstairs two bedrooms are very shallow and steep but our family had no trouble, including the kids. This house seems like it would be especially ideal in the summer, when you could walk to Arey's pond and also enjoy the outdoor amenities such as the ping pong table.
    Orleans is a wonderful town with plenty of amenities and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed lunch at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow.     show more show less

    This antique cape tucked back on a private road in Orleans was perfect for us. The interior was fresh and updated, exceptionally clean, and so easy for us to live in for a week. We especially appreciated the fenced in backyard for our dogs, the provision of kayaks for use on Arey's Pond, and the fire pit for the chilly nights. Stephen was a terrific host, answering quickly, any and all questions. We can't wait to come back and stay again!

    I have been living on the Lower Cape almost continuously since early childhood. I am an avid fisherman and I love golf. I lived in East Harwich since 2002 and now in South Orleans since 2019. I'm happy to share any information about the area, things to do, places to eat, etc. or to help you enjoy your visit in any way possible. I own Cape Cod Daily Deal and run a small web development company in North Chatham that's been operating since 1998.

    What is special about this property?
    This home is a true Cape Cod Antique. It is carefully and painstakingly updated to provide all the modern amenities but while retaining the classic old-time Cape Cod elegance and charm.

    What is special about your town?
    Orleans is the 4th Lower Cape town in which I have lived. I've been in Chatham where I grew up, Brewster where I spent about 6 years renting, and East Harwich where I lived for 19 years. Now Siobhan and I have been in Orleans for about 5 years and I must say Orleans is my favorite town so far, by far! From beach access and proximity to the Outer Cape to the waterways, recreation, conservation land, to all the town of Orleans has to offer in terms of dining and entertainment, Orleans is a great spot. Not to mention the property is still just 10 minutes from downtown Chatham, the Harwiches, and Brewster as well.
