Spacious and serene, this up-to-date, upside-down house is the perfect spot to nestle in a quiet neighborhood and enjoy the seclusion of a dead-end street. While there is plenty to do at the house, you also have easy access to all else you may want. Walk to conservation trails or the harbor cove. See the sunrise at majestic Nauset on the Atlantic, or catch sunset at Skaket on the tranquil Cape Cod Bay. A beach house with all the comforts of home!
Designed to invoke the serenity of the beach, combined with all the amenities necessary to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A modern, fully-equipped kitchen offering: fridge icemaker, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, tea kettle, a lightly stocked cupboard (coffee, tea, cream/sugar, and an array of common spices), cookware and lobster pots. Comfy living area with large TV with Firestick, Wi-Fi, A/C, cathedral ceiling with 2 ceiling fans.
Because you are near the beach, the necessities of course (chairs, umbrella, umbrella anchor, and towels). The 1st floor comprises of 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths: primary bedroom with a Queen and ensuite bath with large shower, bedroom 2 with a Queen, bedroom 3 with a Double and a Twin, and another full bath with shower/tub. If two showers do not suffice, there is also an outdoor shower.
When you enter the home, you can drop your bags in the bedrooms then explore and let the vacation begin! There is something for everyone to enjoy at the house. Inside, you have Ping Pong in the basement. Or, you can head up the stairs to the open-concept kitchen/dining/living room where you will find a living area with a huge L shaped couch with room for everyone to play a board game or watch TV. The independent activity area has a puzzle table, a computer station, a cozy reading corner. There is a more intimate sitting space for two where you can a play game of cribbage or other cards, or simply unwind and connect with each other. Off the large upstairs great-room room is a convenient 1/2 bath.
Off each end of the upstairs are 2 decks, one with a gas grill, the other is your outdoor dining and relaxing area. This is my favorite spot! Dining, reading, watching the hawks and herons flying overhead while a multitude of other birds flit from tree to tree, finding favorite constellations at night, or simply keeping an eye on the kids playing outside. Outside, the yard is over an acre's worth: plenty of room to run about, relax in the hammock, or enjoy a game of Corn Hole, Bocce, Badminton, or good, old-fashioned Hide and Seek or Kick-the-Can. Kids of all ages can frolic freely.
When you venture from the nest, you also have easy access to all else you may want. Walk to conservation trails or the harbor cove for beachcombing, a quick dip, or from which you can launch a kayak or canoe across the harbor to outer Nauset Beach, otherwise accessible only by off-sand vehicles. It is less populated and simply amazing to experience. A short drive in either direction finds you at the wildly majestic Nauset Beach on the Atlantic Ocean with a seemingly endless stretch of roaring surf, or at tranquil Skaket Beach on the Cape Cod Bay with its miles of flats at low tide. There are also two fresh-water beaches nearby, Crystal and Pilgrim Lakes. Whatever kind of water you like, Orleans has it!
Within a couple of miles, you will find other great activities: The Academy Playhouse that stages productions year round, Cape Cod Rail Trail (with several bike rentals if you didn't bring your own!), kayak rentals (I do have one tandem, sit-on: please ask me about it if you'd like to use it!), public tennis courts, Eldredge Park: home of the Orleans Firebirds-the local team of the collegiate Cape Cod Baseball League (The Cape Cod Baseball League is the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the nation founded in 1885. Players from across the United States representing all NCAA college divisions are recruited to play in the 10-team league. One in every six Major League Baseball players has played in the Cape Cod Baseball League!). Of course, Orleans has many fabulous restaurants, galleries, and shops to explore!
Flying further from the nest is a piece of cake as well. Orleans is the hub of the ''lower cape'' (not southern-most, but outer-most). All of the 3 major roads 6, 6A, and 28, converge in Orleans, so that it is easy to get to wherever you'd like to day-trip!
