Description

Description

Just-updated waterfront haven sleeps up to 6 on two levels next to freshwater Crystal Lake. With its enticing southern views over sparkling swimmable water, outdoor amenities include an enclosed shower, patio, propane BBQ, large sloping lawn, small sandy beach, new deck next to a vintage boathouse, three kayaks, a canoe, and a floating swim dock.

This home has a full-featured eat-in kitchen, living room, half-bathroom, and full-sized laundry machines on the ground floor, with two queen bedrooms and a full bathroom upstairs. The new 55” QLED 4K smart TV on a full-motion mount lets you watch from the kitchen, living room, or patio. The queen-sized sleeper sofa is brand new, as are all furnishings, wall art, and the bottom-up/top-down shades on all windows. There’s 300Mbps Xfinity wifi, plus Roku-equipped TVs in both bedrooms. Mini-split heating/AC lets you customize each room’s climate. And the new tankless water heater provides infinite hot water.

Located in a quiet part of Orleans at the north end of Crystal Lake, close to downtown, you’re 2 minutes from public tennis courts at Eldredge Park, 3 minutes to the 25-mile rail trail bike path, and 6 minutes to Nauset Beach on the ocean or Skaket Beach on Cape Cod Bay.

There’s a ‘Super’ Stop & Shop 5 minutes north and a Shaw’s supermarket 4 minutes west, along with numerous restaurants and coffeehouses, boating, watersports, and bike-rental stores, gyms, and pharmacies within a 3-minute drive. Snow Library, the Orleans Firebirds’ baseball diamond, and the Academy Playhouse are all a 2-minute drive away.

The kitchen features a gas oven/range, microwave oven, dishwasher, freezer-on-the-bottom fridge, French press and flex-brew coffeemakers (with coffee pods, creamer, and sugar), Ninja blender, toaster, filtered-water pitchers (2), complete BBQ set, box full of bug sprays, sunscreens, and aloe, full set of pots and pans (including a lobster pot), flatware, Corell dinnerware, and glassware (mugs, juice glasses, iced-tea glasses, stemless wine glasses, tumblers, and picnic cups) for 6. There are folding trays when it's time to move to the living room or paved, umbrella-shaded patio.

On arrival, park in one of the two spaces marked ''Unit 1'' and walk down a short path (lined with motion-sensitive LED lights) past a neighbor’s garage and down 7 steps toward the lake. The home isn’t visible from the road. Unit 1 (your destination) is part of a 4-unit condo association and shares a common wall with Unit 2 (on the far side). All occupants share the lawn, deck, watercraft, and swim dock.

Please click on the Pricing & Availability tab for detailed information about weekly rates. This property has a three-night minimum during the peak season. State and local short-term occupancy taxes totaling 14.45% apply to all reservations less than 32 days in length. A fully refundable $200 security deposit applies to all bookings.

This property offers a 2-night minimum stay during the off-peak season. Guests incur a $180 cleaning fee for stays less than 6 nights.

Linens, Towels, etc
===============
Linens are supplied for all three beds, along with bath, hand, and beach towels. Pillow protectors will be freshly laundered; mattress protectors, bedspreads, blankets, and quilts will not.

Cancellation Policy
==============
You may cancel your booking at any time before your scheduled arrival and receive a full refund of any amounts paid after I succeed in re-booking your dates with another party for the same or a higher rate. Your refund will be reduced dollar-for-dollar if I re-book your dates for a lower rate, or forfeited if I can’t re-book your dates at all. You can also apply any refundable amounts (including your security deposit) to book a future stay.

I recommend considering travel insurance so at least some of your costs can be refunded should you cancel.

    Beautiful and relaxing

Andrew was an awesome host. The condo had everything you could need and was very clean and tastefully decorated. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to a family emergency. Will definitely return! Thank you, Andrew.

    Another Amazing Stay

Another amazing stay at this home in Orleans, MA! We have been coming to this exact spot for 20 years! The new owners have done a really nice job updating this space and adding lots of little touches. The living room was such a nice space to relax and enjoy some time with family. The rental was very quiet, clean, and cozy! We thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the newly renovated dock on the lake. We have already begun looking into dates for our return trip next year! Thank you for all your love and attention to the space. We had a very relaxing week! show more show less

    Peaceful lake cottage!

We just returned from our 1st trip to the Cape. The entire rental process was a breeze. The host, Andrew provided us with every single detail we could possibly want to know about the home and surrounding areas before arrival! Makes such a huge difference when you're in an unfamiliar location. We arrived to a clean space with plenty of towels, fresh linens on beds & nice little care packages in case you forgot any essentials. The location on Crystal Lake can't be beat. You could unpack and not leave the property. The use of shared paddle boards & kayaks was a fun bonus! Orleans is also a great jumping off point mid Cape for exploring the nearby towns. So many different activities in either direction. If we visit the Cape again, we would rent from Andrew without hesitation. Thanks for sharing your peaceful retreat, Andrew! show more show less

    Amazing Stay

5 stars all the way. Andrew was an incredible host and thought of every detail in order to make our stay comfortable. The house was perfect for us and featured comfortable beds, modern bathroom and kitchen, nice amenities, air conditioning, supplies, etc. and we enjoyed every minute in the house and on the beautiful lake. Our only issue was that we couldn't extend our stay for another week! Highly recommend!

Excellent Experience! Beautiful place to stay, newly renovated, enjoyed being in Orleans. My young adult daughter enjoyed it, too. We made popovers in the kitchen to bring to a relative's house - kitchen even had muffin pans, so we were good to go.

This townhouse is located close to the center of Orleans, and close to both the National Seashore and Bay beaches. The condo community consists of a house, a cottage, and two attached duplex townhouses. All share the grounds, including the lakefront property. The lake is lovely. Single-person kayaks are provided, which we used and were a lot of fun. The unit has a patio with outdoor table and chairs and an outdoor shower. The unit was spotless and well-equipped. Everything you might need in the kitchen was provided. Knives were sharp (a rarity in a rental). Full-size washer/dryer and dishwasher were included. Sliders in living room opened to the patio and had a nice view of the lake. The two bedrooms were upstairs; one had a lake view. The unit was spotless and it was easy to communicate with the host. Highly recommend! show more show less

    Fantastic place and location!

The place was exactly as described and seen in the photos. Everything we could have needed and then some was in the house. Extremely quiet neighborhood was fantastic for sleeping. Everything in town was a 3-minute drive so the location couldn't be beat. The lake was very clean and fun to swim out to the floating platform. We met some of the neighbors who were very friendly and welcoming. The outdoor shower was probably my favorite. Being able to be outside with total privacy and looking up at the trees was amazing. I can't say enough good things about this place. Andrew was super accommodating and gracious. If you're looking for a place to stay on the Cape, make this your spot. Orleans is one of my favorite towns on the Cape and I now have a new favorite place to stay when I visit. show more show less

    Lovely place to stay.

This was a lovely place to stay. Great location, quiet and private but also close to shops, restaurants and beaches. The owner has left no detail overlooked making this an excellent place for a worry free vacation. Very well stocked kitchen for cooking and baking. Excellent knives which are usually dull or lacking in most rentals. Comfortable furniture including couch and beds. Nice linens and towels provided including towels for the beach/lake. Plenty of surfaces and spots to stow your stuff without seeming cluttered. Very good sound system in the living room and easy to use smart TV's. Very clean when we arrived. Excellent resources from and easy communication with the owner. I can highly recommend and we will be returning. show more show less

My family and I have spent summers in Orleans since 1980. We were expats living in London, but several of my parents' best friends had homes on the Cape and it quickly became our ''happy place'' too.

We rented all over town for a couple weeks a year, refining our preferences (and tolerances) for more than two decades until a chance kayak outing led them to discover the ''goldilocks'' property. In a nutshell, it offered the all-too-rare ''sunset view over water'' they sought. The result is WNAV's property #31120, a 4-bedroom gem on Mill Pond with views west and over Nauset Harbor. I feel privileged to have many enthusiastic repeat visitors.

In late 2022 my wife and I bought a 2-bedroom hideaway on Orleans's beloved Crystal Lake - WNAV's property #36890. After an extensive makeover, we are now proud to share it with vacationers. It has all-new furniture, many updated amenities, a new roof, tankless water heater, updated outdoor shower, and an elegant new pathway. The small sandy beach, new waterfront deck (next to the vintage boathouse), four watercraft, and swim dock make the place magical.

I manage rentals in California so handle both properties' bookings, finances, and upkeep with a local builder/contractor and his son serving as my eyes, ears, and hands.

Although we'd love to keep summering in Orleans, we also like to share (smile). My goal is to find appreciative, responsible vacationers and off-season renters who'll bond with these sanctuaries and return regularly.

What is special about this property?
12 Mill Race - If there were no house already on this parcel of land, the Town of Orleans' current zoning wouldn't allow one to be built. That's because of how close the house is to the water (to the north and west), and how close it is to a permanent nature preserve (just the other side of the rock wall on the west edge of the yard). But it could also be because this house has infinitely better and broader views than Grandview homes five times its size up the hill.

Watching the sunset from the west deck (or almost anywhere else in the house) has always been a hush-inducing experience. And being so close to Mill Pond affords other special privileges, like watching seals play and stir up the water as they corral fish.

7 Pond Road #1 - Crystal Lake, Orleans' second-largest freshwater pond, is not only gorgeous but tranquil, and accessing it without traffic or parking worries (as often occurs at the south end's entrance) only improves the experience. The house and patio's southern aspect, large lawn, sandy beach, brand new deck, four watercraft, and outdoor shower's infinite supply of hot water) will further enhance your stay.

The house sleeps 6 (two queen beds upstairs and a queen-sized sleeper sofa downstairs) and is comfortable, functional, and well-organized. Its central location (~1 mile to Hwy 6 and 6A, and ~100 yards to Hwy 28) gives quick access to our favorite places, like Mahoney's Atlantic Bar & Grill, the Hot Chocolate Sparrow and, for groceries, Friends' Market.

What is special about your town?
Orleans has charm, history, and plenty of amenities to offer multiple generations. From its highly successful minor league baseball team (the Orleans Firebirds) to its deeply nautical culture and old-Cape architecture, it's hard to get bored here. Even if all you do is bake on the beaches (Nauset or Skaket), when the weather's right there's no place quite as comfortable and relaxing. And if you're a cyclist, the 25-mile Cape Code Rail Trail goes right through town and all the way north to Provincetown.

East Orleans, at the eastern end of Beach Road heading toward Nauset Beach, is (IMO) a ''thickly settled'' and wealthy area with a great climate (especially from July through mid-October), and more topological variety than most of the Cape. Yes, there are hills, even cliffs, which make views of the Atlantic all the more dramatic. Before the sun gets too high you can sometimes see spouting whales. And of course there's water everywhere -- both the fresh and salted kind -- so swimming is feasible even if you never enter the ocean.

Being outdoorsy, my favorite activity is to hike along Nauset Beach north to ''The Cut'' and back along Nauset Harbor. It's 7 miles, mostly in soft sand, so it can be challenging. There are, however, barking seals aplenty to keep you company, and in late June and early July the horseshoe crabs mate -- now there's an unforgettable sight. Finally, before digging for shellfish, check w
