Description

Description

This charming antique house was originally an 1820 two room schoolhouse that has been added onto and modernized over the years. People playing tennis, pickleball, basketball, board games or simply reading in a quiet corner. Using the paddle board on the spring fed waters of Crystal Lake and taking in the beautiful scenery and lake homes. Taking a dip in Crystal Lake on the way home from a day at the beach. There's something for everyone in this house!

Park like grounds allow for some great hide and seek games while the rest of the gang relaxes on the back patio. Mature gardens offer something in bloom from spring to fall. Beauty and nature abound! You'll see why we call it the ''The Good Life''!

Partial view of Pilgrim Lake across the street. Most of the homes on the street are also antique Cape Cod homes with immaculate gardens. There is nature and beauty all around!

Use of beach chairs, toys, beach towels, umbrella, boogie boards , tennis and pickleball racquets and paddle board(11'4''). Central A/C in main house with A/C window unit in guest quarters. Extra parking behind the guest cottage. Three flat screen TVs plus wireless high speed internet.

The home has a large country kitchen, a living room, card/game (or use room as back up eating) room, master bedroom, master bath and laundry on the first floor. On the second floor, there are three bedrooms (a full, a full, and 2 twin beds), a full bath plus a common area with a flat screen TV and full-sized futon.

A separate building/Guest quarters provides a very spacious room with cathedral ceilings, a king sized bed, and a full bathroom with large bath/jacuzzi. Outdoor shower facilities are located next to the cottage. You can also use a single sized mattress on the floor if desired.

It's just a 5 minute walk to the spring fed waters of Crystal Lake, or a 5 minute walk/30 second drive to a saltwater pond that has a public town landing and leads to Pleasant Bay, or just kayak on “The River”. 2-3 minute drive to Pilgrim Lake. 5-7 minute drive to Nauset or Skaket Beach.

Note: The cottage(5th bedroom, including en suite bathroom) plus outdoor shower is unavailable from mid-October to May 1st.

    A Wonderful Week

We had a group of 6 adults and 4 children. There was plenty of space for eating, sleeping, and playing. As mentioned in other reviews the kitchen was the gathering place and was well equipped. It had every utensil and pan we needed. The king bedroom on the first floor has a beautiful bathroom and walk-in closet. The stairs going to the upper bedrooms have narrow steps and curve a bit. It was not a problem for our group but should be mentioned. I stayed in the cottage (with a window A.C. unit) which had plenty of natural light with two skylights and a spare twin bed which we didn't use. We made use of the outdoor shower as well as the puzzles and games inside. It was great to have a small shed full of beach toys, tennis racquets (with 2 new cans of tennis balls), basketballs, boogie boards, standup paddle-board, beach chairs, umbrellas and more! Pickleball equipment was stored inside. The kids loved playing on the tennis court- even in the rain! show more show less

    Family vacation

We are a family of ten, 6 adults 4 children this rental was perfect for us all! This was my first time renting the house and staying in Orleans. We fell in Love with the Orleans area with all the restaurants and shops close by . We took the kids to a play Lion King down the street which I'm pleased to say was amazing!!
Crystal pond is a short walk from the house the kids and adults loved swimming in the fresh water. The beaches are close by as well so if someone had to leave it was not an issue to drive them back to house. The beds are very comfortable as well as the furniture which for me is huge as that has not been the case in other houses I've rented. The house is charming and the amenities are a 10! It was nice to have beach chairs ,towels, etc. provided . The house was perfect for us with young kids sleeping in the main house while the adults played games in the kitchen area that was separated with an entrance and door. The kids did not hear us and slept soundly. Sarah checked in to make sure we were happy and responded in a timely manner when I contacted her. We will definitely be back to make more memories with my family!!

    Perfect Gathering Hoise

Quintessential New England home, in beautiful, natural Cape area. The house is amenable to gathering with large kitchen and lovely outdoor space. My family enjoyed the tennis court and proximity to Crystal Lake and Nauset Beach. The house is very comfortable and so much to do in the area. We hope to return!

    Perfect for us!

We are a large family. Adults and small kids. The house had plenty of room for us all and having the kitchen separate was a blessing. Whomever got up early was able to cook, read, visit and not disturb anyone else! The cottage was so big with room to work. We absolutely loved the tennis court where we could play pickle ball while the little kids played all around us. The location is central to everything! The house is well equipped- we never believe that but this house has plenty of towels, a blanket, chairs and beach toys. Cannot wait to go back! show more show less

    Perfect Vacation!

This was really the perfect set up. It is a classic New England/Cape Cod home with enormous amounts of character and charm. A convenient location that was close to beaches, shopping, and dining as well as a beautiful local lake. The layout is accommodating for any size family and the grounds are so neat it feels like it could host a large wedding. The owners take great pride in the property and it shows in every small detail. Communication with the owner was easy and honest. Our family looks forward to returning for many years to come.

    Magical!

This was a vacation dream come true! The house and cabana house were spacious, warm, and welcoming for our family of eight adults and two small children, and the grounds were so beautiful. We felt like we had a private compound for the week….playing games on the lawn, enjoying our own tennis/ pickleball court, cooking and eating together in the huge kitchen filled with sunlight, putting together a puzzle in the extra "dining room" space, and more. The location of the house was fantastic! We walked to Crystal Lake and had a blast swimming in the beautiful water with tubes and noodles provided by the owner, building sandcastles, and sitting under the shade of trees daydreaming! We were minutes away from Nauset Beach, Skaket Beach, downtown Orleans, the Cape Cod Bike Trail, and ice cream!! The owner was a delight to work with. I'm lobbying my family to return next summer! show more show less

    Wonderful house

Everything was perfect. The house was super clean and very well equipped, even chairs and towels for the beach were available. It is situated 300m from the small beach of a pond. A paddle board is available. The kitchen has everything you need. It is spacious. A tennis court is also available: very nice to get moving before you go rest at the beach. Many beaches are very close, event the National Seashore beaches (with a 60$UD permit for the season instead of 25$ per day). Even the CCRT is close, 3km. Orleans is near everything, beaches in the bay, beaches on the open sea, midway betwwen Hyannis and Provincetown. We strongly recommanded Sarah's house and will certainly go back. And Sarah answered all opf our questions very quickly. show more show less

    Perfect for Creating Memories

Staying at Sarah's home was the perfect setting to create memories for a multi-generational family reunion across the street from our parent's family home. Centrally located and close to beaches and ponds, Sarah's house is clean, spacious and comfortably accommodated 8 adults and 2 children. The grounds are lovely and well-maintained with a tennis court and a shed full of beach chairs, floats, games and toys. The large kitchen, living room and outdoor patio were the gathering spots for meaningful conversations, drinks, card games and lots of laughs. We all had a wonderful time and will remember this vacation for years to come. show more show less

    Family Visit

My family had an amazing trip to Cape Cod and this house was perfect! The house was exactly what was showcased online and we were so happy when we first arrived and walked around the house / property. There were plenty of beds to fit us all comfortably, and we got tons of use out of the tennis court and basketball hoop, as that was also a big reason for choosing this house.

The walk to Crystal Lake down the road was also perfect, since there were a lot of shark warnings at the beach we were happy to have a great alternative place to swim and relax. The house was also in a great location in general, with short drives to downtown Chatham and other landmarks.

Sarah was also easily available to contact if we ended up having any quick questions during our stay. I can't thank her enough for letting us stay at her amazing home and we would definitely recommend this place to others and would love to stay here again for future trips!

We are an American/Swedish family living in Germany and knew instantly that this would be the perfect summer house for us with 3 kids and rotating guests. We loved the antique charm and layout of the house, and of course the tennis court! Kids running in and out of the house, people playing tennis, board games or simply reading in a quiet corner. There's something for everyone in this house!

What is special about this property?
Tennis in the late afternoon, after the beach, then drinks on the patio. The option in early evening for swimming at Crystal Lake while the sun is setting...Sitting on the patio at night, tiki flames aglow and counting the shooting stars....Monday night band concerts at Nauset beach...Sitting on the hill watching the Cape Cod baseball league...spending the day at either Nauset or Skaket beach...

What is special about your town?
We rented in Orleans in 2006 and fell in love with the town. The town is 'Americana' at its best. Traditional main street with excellent shopping, nice library, superb cafes and restaurants. Plus water everywhere- lakes, inlets, bayside, oceanside- all within minutes of each other!
