We absolutely loved our stay at the Topside Mainhouse. The property is beautiful. The kids had a blast swimming off the dock and we all enjoyed kayaking to the beach nearby. Our favorite moments were spent sitting outside enjoying the view. The house is incredibly special both inside and out. We hope to have the opportunity to return in 2021!

My husband and I have had the distinct pleasure of staying at David's phenomenally charming Topside Boathouse in Orleans for several weeks over the last 12 months, and on our last stay in September, David, who is an incredibly attentive and gracious host in every way, gave us a personal tour of his Main House advertised here, which at the time was not available to rent. The Topside Boathouse is a much smaller though private and perfectly appointed space on the same property, and is perfectly suited for my husband's and my needs when only two of us are traveling. But after our tour of the Main House, without a doubt when we travel to the Cape with family or friends we will delight in having the opportunity to stay at this truly one-of-a-kind, exquisite property.

The cottage style interior of The Main House embodies elegant warmth and charm, with ample, cozy, and comfortable seating throughout the main floor, that boasts an open kitchen keeping room space that has been completely and thoughtfully renovated to maintain the design integrity and period character of the original house while also providing every necessary modern amenity. The whole feel of the home is old world, with beautiful wood floors and mantles, sweeping views, and a few fabulous, unexpected "secret" rooms that add to the mystique of this unique home. The Main House truly begs for family meals around the antique dining table in the conservatory style dining room, and for cocktails and casual al fresco dining on the lush lawn overlooking the bay. Cue the refreshing salt water breeze and sound of water gently lapping against the dock.... Heavenly!

Walking onto this special property, ripe with generations of family history, is truly like stepping back in time, to easier days of relaxed waterfront living with the addition of a few unexpected yet fantastic lagniappes that include outdoor showers and second story outdoor lounge spaces. All in a prime and unparalleled location right on Pleasant Bay, Central Cape, convenient to everything. The pictures are a reasonable representation of the basic rooms, but still they do not come close to capturing the heart and spirit of the place. My husband and I are in the process of mapping out a stay at the Main House this year with two of our favorite couples, who have heard so many glowing reports from our previous experiences on the property and with David, that they are thrilled to get to experience it with us.
