Description

Description

Stay in a new two-bedroom custom home, secluded and deep in the woods, on the water, off Barley Neck Road in East Orleans. The home is ideally suited for four people currently, but will be expanded later to accommodate six. Please note that our adjacent 18th century grist windmill, which is listed/rented separately (Property ID 22409), accommodates up to six additional people.

Swim or kayak in Little Pleasant Bay from your private beach, and explore the Bay and Sampson, Pochet, or Hog Islands at your leisure. Experience the beauty of Cape Cod sunrises and sunsets from the front lawn; and, just maybe you will see deer or fox that occasionally cross the yard. A grill is available for cookouts, as is a picnic table to enjoy your food while looking out over the Bay. And, when you come back from the beach, there is an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand and salt!

The public beaches, on both the Bay and ocean sides, are within easy driving distances.

The newer home includes two bedrooms--a master with a queen bed and window seat, and an adjacent bedroom with two twin beds, also including a window seat. There is a full bathroom with a shower on the main level and a half bath on the upper level. Upstairs is a beautifully crafted combination living room/kitchen with double-doors leading out to an upper-deck beautiful view of the waters of Little Pleasant Bay.

Amenities also include basic cable TV, Internet with WiFi, and central air conditioning/heat. There is also a laundry room with a washer/dryer. Linen rentals available from Cape Cod Linen Rental.

Please note: When using Google Earth, when you put in 43 Chestnut, the red marker is actually put to the front and right of the Mill home (45 Chestnut); this home--43 Chestnut--is actually directly back from the red marker with the white stone parking area visible alongside the right of the home. If you zoom in you can also see the stairs down to the beach, an alternative path down to the beach, the water, and the beach with a higher tide water line visible in the sand. The view of the bay from the home and the home from the bay can be seen in the attached pictures.

$100/wk off for multiple wks >$2000 pre-tax.

    A Beauty!

Like a previous reviewer posted...OMG! My husband and I loved this place. The house was beautiful and in such a remote, quiet spot. It had every thing one could possibly need! I wanted to try the kayaks but I wasn't quite brave enough, never did it before and thought I might need a guide and lesson first, next time though. The owners were super nice, checking in with us during our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. We've always rented in Brewster and this year we changed it up in Orleans and discovered that we loved the central location of it on the Cape, so close to Nauset Beach, so close to great restaurants, easy to navigate. My favorite thing about this house was its remoteness, you are a bit off the beaten path but we loved that feature, no cars, no walkers, just us and they bay. We'll be back! show more show less

Our new favorite spot on the Cape!!

We have been vacationing on the Cape every year for many years. We usually stay in Eastham but saw this listing and couldn't resist the views! The house was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. We loved the beach and even kayaked to the nearby islands in Pleasant Bay. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning while enjoying the view and even saw some wildlife in the yard- rabbits and wild turkeys! My husband who is a chef loved the open and well stocked kitchen. This home is in the perfect location- close to everything but has a private and out of the way feel. We can't wait to go back next summer! show more show less

    Wow!

OMG! This place is amazing! The house was bright, clean, open, airy and beautiful. Windows and skylight let in wonderful breezes when there are some but there is central air if not.
It is difficult to say what we enjoyed most: We enjoyed the upper deck for relaxing and enjoying the view, we enjoyed borrowing the kayaks to explore the bay and Islands, we enjoyed the private beach for swimming and reading, we enjoyed the house for its welcoming and comfortable interior, we enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, we enjoyed walking Barley Neck Rd. to the end to the Bay and continuing along the shore and finding little baby horseshoe crabs, we enjoyed the closeness to Nauset Beach to play in the waves, we enjoyed riding our bikes on the bike trail.

This was the MOST relaxing stay we've ever experienced on the Cape. There really was no need to ever leave the property if you didn't want to; it has everything you need to experience all the Cape has to offer. What more can we say?

Our family has owned this land for about a century. Our adjacent gristmill was moved to the current property and dates back to the late 1700s. We live in the Chicagoland area but have extended family that lives locally around the property.
