Description

Description

Your private beach is just steps away, and perfect for launching your kayak, paddle board or just a refreshing dip - a good beach for small children.

This large rustic cape sits on a breezy bluff overlooking picturesque Little Pleasant Bay. It has 5 1/2 bedrooms, three bathrooms, a deck and an open floor plan of dining room and living room complete with fireplace. The kitchen has all you need to put together a summer feast, while out back you'll also find a washing machine, dryer and extra refrigerator.

Start the day with breakfast on the deck then rent bikes and tour the Mid-Cape bike trail, or take a quiet walk on your beach and enjoy reading while overlooking the water. Looking for surf? Nearby Nauset Farms can make a picnic lunch, and a short drive will get you to Nauset Beach. The town has plenty of small shops, restaurants, a coffee/candy store, wine shop, a gym and of course fresh seafood for sale. Home made ice cream is only a mile away at Smitty's, and don't worry, the line moves quickly....

Enjoy the outdoor shower at the end of your day, put something on the grill and relax with a glass of wine on the deck, or... venture out to nearby Barley Neck Inn (BNI) and enjoy a burger and live music on the weekends.

    Old Cape Cod

We have been renting this house from this Family for years. It is one of our favorite places in the world. The home has the classic Cape Cod charm that you won't find in newer homes, so warm and inviting. The location offers complete privacy, direct water access for kayaking, etc, and phenomenal water views of Little Pleasant Bay, the name really says it all. We are a large group with parents and young adults, and the house has plenty of space for all of us. You are only 5 minutes away from Nauset Beach, and a quick drive to all of Orleans' amenities. Pour yourself a G&T, sit on the deck and put on Patti Page's Old Cape Cod, you will be transported to another place and time. show more show less

    2nd year

This was my families 2nd year staying here. We all enjoyed ourselves and left very relaxed. There is plenty of space for all to spend time together but also be able to have some alone time as well. Highly recommend

Magical house in a wonderful location

My family: two grandparents, two parents, and two teenage granddaughters spent two weeks at this home. This house sits at the end of a long, very well maintained driveway and when you get there it is magical…No neighbors, very quiet with lots of space for multiple cars and even a boat trailer, and inside the house is equally as wonderful. It has the warmth of a well loved family home with lots of space to spread out or get together for family time. Down a wooded path is a small sandy and very private beach, with calm water and safe anchorage for our small sailboat. It was a privilege to stay at this house and it almost felt like we were visiting and not just renting. Thank you Christina. show more show less

    Lovely place in great location

This quiet large home was perfect for my family vacation. If you know older cottage style homes on the cape then you really appreciate this one. It's large but still has the cottage feel and lovely features. The location is very private and quiet. You have direct access to little pleasant bay. Again it's a 'bay' not open ocean so calm water perfect for kayaking, paddleboards or sailing. The home and back yard have a beautiful view as well. Everyone one in my family enjoyed our stay. This location has easy access to Orleans and outer cape and a short drive to Nauset Beach. You can't ask for more in a Cape Cod vacation. show more show less

    Wow!

What a beautiful rustic home on just a picturesque setting! We had 8 stay at the house for a family wedding and we were very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed gathering on the deck and sharing stories while watching Pleasant Bay and the ocean beyond! It is an easy walk down to the waters of the Bay. The beds are very comfortable and we all woke up well rested. There is a large dining table that we all had dinner at each evening. The home was very clean upon arrival and it even has a gas grill for grilling fresh fish!

The owner is just plain wonderful as she answered all of my questions when I phoned her, answered further questions via email, and kept in close contact while we were there! Honestly, we couldn't have asked for more, we all loved it, and we hope to gather there again in the future!

    Charming Home - Amazing Location

We love this home. This was the second summer that we rented the home for 2 weeks and we already plan to come back next year and hopefully for many years to come. We have rented on the Cape for a decade and have finally found the place that feels like home. We are 2 families with college age kids and there is plenty of room for everyone to hang out together. The house has a warmth and charm that you don't find in newer homes. The water views of Pleasant Bay and the sunsets are outstanding. There is so much more to say but you will have to experience it for yourselves. show more show less

    Wonderful time

Our family has an amazing time on the Cape at the classic Cape house! The house was huge, had everything a family needs, the house itself has so much character and can host a very large family, several families or a big group. The outdoors were absolutely amazing, very private, huge yard overlooking the water, incredible views! Having your own private beach was great! Our kids loved going there for walks , we were able to catch various crabs, shells and starfish, we have never seen those at any other beaches on the Cape, swimming and just enjoyed every moment of our stay! Christina, the owner was very nice and we are very thankful for making our stay one of the best ones we ever had on the Cape! We will surely be back!!! show more show less

"Perfect" Doesn't Begin to Describe this House.

While searching for a rental property for a family reunion, we came across a listing for "The Big House" in East Orleans. Built in the early 40s for a large family, the building is a marvelously maintained Cape house that welcomes you into the era of "old Cape Cod" while including every modern amenity. Its family photos covering the pine walls and its bookcases filled to the brim speak to years of family and tradition. The six bedrooms and three full bathrooms are spread out in such a way as to provide complete privacy, while the kitchen and large living room allow for generous, comfortable rooms for large gatherings.

The large covered deck provides views of Little Pleasant Bay and in the distance, The Narrows, Big Pleasant Bay, Chatham, and the Outer Beach. A huge lawn allows for games of badminton, horseshoes, or bocce ball. At the end of a narrow path to the boathouse lies a pristine private beach for safe swimming where the daily activity of motorboats and sailboats can be enjoyed. The property is located conveniently within a short drive to Orleans, the Mid-Cape Highway, Nauset and Skaket Beaches. At the same time, the Big House gives its inhabitants complete isolation from the hustle and bustle of summertime Cape traffic.

In addition to all the amenities (Wi-Fi, cable TV, washer and dryer, outdoor shower, kayak), the owners provide things above and beyond the norm such as a second full refrigerator, beach chairs and umbrellas, bug spray and citronella candles, jigsaw puzzles, table games, and much more.

The owners were extremely helpful at every step of the way and made us feel as if we were their family's guests, rather than renters of their house.

In short, this rental defines the best of everything a Cape rental should have: convenience, charm, privacy, modern amenities, and lots of space for a large group of up to eleven with people of all ages. Our week's stay seemed like a much longer vacation and we would love to return to The Big House in the future.

    Love this home!

After 2 minutes everyone fell in love with the house. The location, the view, the comfort, the quaintness. And we loved Orleans. It is in the center of the Cape so you are never far from either end of the Cape. For charter fishing, Rock Harbor is only 10 minutes away. My whole family wants to go back to the same house next year

A Touch of Old Cape Cod

Walking into this family home we could feel the love and summer fun that this cottage has brought to so many over the years. The home was large enough for our group of ten, the covered patio was a great gathering spot, and the living room was comfortable for all of us. It was a most relaxing and fun week in a beautiful and peaceful setting.

Needless to say, there is a certain amount of anxiety opening up your house to strangers, and trusting that they will respect and appreciate the home that you treasure. That being said, we have always treated the homes of others with great care and hope that this courtesy will be reciprocated in kind.

What is special about this property?
Location and privacy would be two of the greatest assets of this Cape setting. This summer house has been passed down through three generations and has been the site of weddings, memorial gatherings, clam bakes and many family reunions. It is not winterized, and would be best described as rustic and authentically ''Old Cape Cod.''
There are water views from practically every room in the house, as well as access to a beach for water sports, but the paramount asset is the serenity this setting allows.

What is special about your town?
East Orleans has most everything a summer vacationing family might need to stay well fed, entertained and active.

A bike trail runs through the middle of town with several bike rental shops steps away. Paddle board and kayak rentals are also available for those who want to explore nearby salt water ways.

Restaurants are varied and family friendly. The local coffee shop, the Chocolate Sparrow, has a tempting selection of homemade fudge and penny candy, while further up the Mid Cape highway is the Wellfleet Cinema, complete with weekend flea markets.
