Our family has rented this home from for 4 of the past 5 years. Yes -- we are return renters and hope to rent it again this coming summer!
We are a NY-based family of 7 (2 adults, 5 kids ranging in age) who get away for a modest vacation once a year. The house itself is charming, large, spacious. Spacious is essential due to our family size. There are enough beds and rooms for everyone -- no one sleeping on a couch! Three of our kids sleep in the upstairs loft (also air conditioned as is the rest of the house), while our other two each take one of their own bedrooms. And my wife and I sleep in the MBR. Plus, did I mentioned there is even an extra bed that my mother-in-law sleeps in when she visits for a night from Boston. It easily sleeps 8, though could likely sleep 10 if someone shared the queen bed in one of the spare bedrooms.
The house is very well maintained (super clean), stocked with games, WiFi, a washer/dryer we use as much as needed (have you ever traveled with 5 kids!). There is a full-size BBQ for use as well as chairs overlooking the bay which has a firepit in front of it. The house also has kayaks for use, as well as a stand-up paddleboard and beach equipment. The air conditioners in all rooms are functional. And to top it off, our son is a devout piano student --they even have a piano in the home!
The location is absolutely ideal. In the 4 years we have rented this home over various summers, we have visited almost all of Cape Cod. Trips to Nauset Beach, Plymouth Plantation, Cape Cod Potato Chip factory, whale watching, and much much more. (We have a map in our home in NY and we mark a "check"in each spot over the years.) It is also a 15 minute drive to Scusset Beach (very pretty and not crowded). There are also some days when we do not want to drive at all, which is what I most appreciate about this rental--it is directly across from a private beach for the homes in this area. And if you want to talk to Onset Beach itself, it is 60 seconds across the road. We walk to town for ice cream, shopping, free concerts at the Bandshell and more. Absolutely prime location.
Furthermore, our family keeps kosher. We bring our own food, pots, portable BBQ, etc. There is a synagogue that is a 4 minute walk from the house. Great for shabbat and weekdays. The owners allow us to keep out pots the past couple of years in a small space in the lower level basement. Now, if that is not "opening up your home to strangers"... I don't know what is!
Cheryl and her husband are a breeze to rent from. They email a contract. I sign it with a deposit and pop it in the mail. She mails back a countersigned copy. They are thoughtful and treat you as they would want to be treated if they were renting.
To summarize, we stayed in this house the past few years (and hope to be able to stay again this year if the week is avail). Other than clothes and food, we did not have to bring anything--kayaks, sheets, towels, rafts, firewood(!) -- all included The village we walk to daily has great coffee, pizza (non-kosher, but world class reputation), a barber shop with old fashioned excellent service, and more.
This is a gem of a rental. Snap it up while the weeks are open. (I would give this 10 stars if I could!) show more show less
