    Back again!

Our family came back a second year and booked a second week this time. I adore Onset Village. The home is perfect for a small family or a few couples and everything you need is walking distance or a short drive. Most everything you can think of is in the home. It's decorated so cute and is well maintained. The owner is so nice and helpful and gives you the space you need. The beach nearby is perfect for small children or a relaxing day without the crowds. Onset beach is just a walk a way as well. There are fun activities for kids near including mini-golf, go carts and a water park as well. The drive to the ferry is not far if you want to take a day trip to the Vineyard or over the bridge to other cape locations. Marc Anthony's might be the best pizza I ever had and the stuffies at Quahog Republic are 100%. Onset village has weekly music on the green and a booze cruise on the harbor. The newly renovated boat house has summer activities for kids as well. I was so happy staying here. show more show less

    Best family vacation

My family had the best vacation at this Cape Cod home. The owner, Janis, was very welcoming and filled us in on the area with great suggestions. The home is lovely and very comfortable with every amenity and more, plus it was very clean!

We used the private beach and walked to town for a few meals. We also had the option to cook and bbq at the house while playing lawn games and could also enjoy local restaurants - it had it all! We also enjoyed the quick access to Sandwich and Falmouth. We rented bikes at Art's bike shop and biked the Shining Sea bike path to Woods Hole for lunch at the Landing - this was a great day! I would highly recommend this home if you are looking for a wonderful family vacation with lots to do. show more show less

    Perfect Cottage

This was a perfect place for my family to stay. The house was just the right size for my husband and I and our 4 young adult children and 2 girlfriends. The house was immaculate and beautifully decorated with a large yard for games. We spent most of the week at the private beach which is less than a 3 minute walk. So easy to go back to the house for lunch and to use the bathrooms.

We walked to Onset Center to a couple of restaurants. We love the Stonebridge and Marc Anthony's. Also the large kitchen table was great for family dinners. Also we sat out on the beautiful porch with a view of the bay and enjoying our morning coffee.

We did a couple of day trips while we were there. It's just a 30 minute drive to catch the ferry to Nantucket! And only 10 minutes to the Cape Cod Canal. We rented bikes and did the 7 mile bike ride!

The owner Janis met us upon arrival and was very helpful with her suggestions. We can't wait to go back next year to this beautiful property!!

    Wonderful Long Weekend

We enjoyed a wonderful 4 night stay during a warm September weekend. The property is beautifully decorated, spotless and in a perfect location. We walked to the quant town center for dinner, lunch and ice cream at the Gazebo. Enjoyed the private beach in front of the house all to ourselves! Had our morning coffee and afternoon drinks & appetizers on the porch with a great view. The hostess was wonderful with many activity and restaurant suggestions. Would highly recommend this beautiful home for your vacation! show more show less

TL; DR: Great house for a big family with littles and yes we'd rent again!

Janis is a very conscientious host! What I loved the most - she changes out the shower curtains!!! Hotels don't even do that. I was a bit nervous staying at a rental during this time, but Janis' attention to detail was especially appreciated during this covid pandemic:
    - Completely new sets of towels and comforters that the previous guests didn't have. So she washes them of course, but it's great to know they also sat for days since being used.
    - We brought our own sheets but she would have sheets for you.
    - She requested we bring our own pillows due to covid....but I have to be honest, thinking about it now I'm shocked I haven't been bringing my own pillows all along. Thinking about sleeping on pillows a stranger just mouth-breathed all over totally freaks me out. LOL
    - She left us the nicest, most thoughtful gift I have ever received at a rental! She personalized the gift to our family and what we would need. Was such a wonderful surprise.

    About the house:
    - The only thing that surprised me was the photos are so well done you don't realize there is a house between you and the cove. Once I got over the vision I had in my head, all was fantastic.
    - The AC is SO powerful you have to figure out what works for your family so you're not freezing at night. We found 74 to be perfect for us (with 3 babies so we didn't want it too cold at night.) Or if the weather is nice and it's not humid, the rooms get some amazing cross breezes. (Perfect for afternoon naps!)
    - The set up works GREAT for a family. 2 bedrooms downstairs and a 3/4 bath for in-laws and the 2 bedrooms upstairs and full bath we took for those with kiddos. (FYI both rooms upstairs are big enough for a pack-n-play.) I'll also add double sinks upstairs is awesome for nighttime routines. One bedroom on each floor has a TV.
    - The porch and yard are a DREAM. We've spent every morning and night rocking on the porch and then if not at the beach we hang out in the yard. Reviews didn't mention the fantastic tree that gives shade in the yard you can follow all day. Our family of sun worshippers and shade lovers were both happy.
    - Fast and efficient washer & dryer has come in handy. It is in the bathroom next to the kitchen so super easy to get in a quick load.
    - Grill is also getting a workout and Janis always has extra propane at the ready. I saw?-her drop off extra propane before she left for the week.
    - There's a table outside if you want to dine al fresco. We eat late at night so ate inside most of the time to avoid mosquitoes.
    - There's a tiny little house also on the property. I was a bit nervous at first because it's rented to another family for the same week, but it's worked out fine. While it looks like the front door is into the yard we use, there's actually a screened-in porch and entrance on the far side by another driveway so we've only seen each other in socially distant passing.

    About the beach:
    - We've never been to this part of MA before so didn't know what to expect. It's a cute little network of little coves. No big waves for body boarding but perfect if you're a paddle board person. We've also seen tons of people with boats and jet skis.
    - The beach itself is perfect sized if you have little kids. Water is very shallow and plenty of sand to play in. I would recommend water shoes as the bottom is a bit mucky.
    - We've seen some older kids catching crabs and other tiny fish in the water and loving it.
    - I'm mostly jealous of those who have the really big floaties as they float around for hours and don't go very far.
    - Janis provides chairs which has been great. We also brought a wagon which has been clutch.
    - It's only been the last two days but the guy in the house across the street has been playing Boccelli and Sinatra loud enough you can hear it from the beach and it's been AMAZING. Feel

What an amazing place to stay! From the moment we arrived, Janis greeted us with kindness as was so excited to show us her "cottage". This place has everything you could think of! She takes great pride in her property, the whole house was spotless and up to date. We had 6 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room for everyone. My two little girls loved the sandy beach a short walk down the road. Most of the week we had the beach all to ourselves. Onset village also a short walk or very short drive had plenty of restaurants to choose from and also a small grocery store. The house is quiet and friendly neighborhood, which definitely helped contribute to a relaxing vacation. The yard was large enough for the kids to run around and play and we could see the water from inside and out. My family can't thank you enough for allowing us to all have a relaxing family getaway together. show more show less

Beautiful newer home that is very welcoming. The yard was spacious for playing outdoor games and having meals. The proximity of this wonderful home is ideally located within steps to the water to drop in the kayaks, walking or biking distances to dining, events, the pier. Only a few minutes to the canal where you can rent a bike and go down the path along the canal or enjoy the visitors center with lots of activities for everyone. Onset Village was just a great place to relax. Quiet neighborhood, away from the busyness of the cape yet close enough to get anywhere. We truly enjoyed our stay in Janis's home. She was a fabulous host with lots of insight as to what is going on in the area and places to go. Janis made us feel like we were old friends and not just someone renting out her home. What a great start and finish to vacation. Thank you Janis for your hospitality and making this such a wonderful retreat for our family to enjoy. Would highly recommend staying here. show more show less

What we experienced was a fantastic week. A really nice house, wonderful garden, great air conditioning, all electronic
devices needed, even guest presents (incredible, we never had that!!)- above all a really friendly and supportive host. There is really nothing we missed and we can just recommend a fab time at Janis;s house. Go ahead and book it, you won't regret it.

    Our wonderful summer vacation.
Our family enjoyed every minute of our week in this lovely shoreline home! From the location, to the beach, to the beautiful and spotless home-we were thoroughly pleased. We love the beach, themed decor, the fully equipped kitchen and BBQ and the spacious and comfortable bedrooms. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. We had a great time and we will be back.

This was our first vacation back to the Cape Cod area. We choose this beautiful house for its proximity to the water and the ease of getting around. My husband, our two children and my parents enjoyed every second of our stay. We loved spending our evenings sitting out on the porch enjoying the view and sipping wine, while the kids played. We also loved the owners hospitality. She made sure that everything was perfect.....and it was. Thank you for a wonderful vacation and everlasting memories!

We have been renting our cottage in Onset since 1986. We always meet our guests on arrival to give a tour of the property and all the amenities in the house as well as the grounds.
