More About New Seabury
New Seabury in the town of Mashpee, is a 2,000-acre, self-contained resort on the waters of Nantucket Sound. New Seabury encompasses 13 "villages," among which are Maushop and The Mews. Maushop Village has the feel of a quaint oceanfront fishing village, with Nantucket-style gray-shingled homes, narrow lanes of crushed seashells, and white picket fences covered in rosa rugosa in the summer. The Mews offers more contemporary villas, many of them looking out on the golf course.
The Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge consists of 5,800 acres of land, more than half of which are not developable. Established to preserve wildlife habitat, the refuge protects a diverse ecosystem. Trail guides are available in the summer, and plans are being made for a visitors center.
The nationally recognized Mashpee Commons in the town center is a community shopping center noted for its New England-style architecture. Mashpee Commons offers a wide variety of shopping art galleries, a movie theater, and restaurants.
Popponessett Marketplace, open from late spring to early fall, includes about 20 shops, along with restaurants, miniature golf, and live entertainment for the whole family.
