Description

Description

The house is located on a street in Harwich Port that is known for the big Copper Beech tree in the front yard. Our family purchased the home in 1998 and started renovations. It was good to be home. For the past 25 years my
sons and I have enjoyed our home with its roomy kitchen, porch swing and day beds, lots of places to
find your quiet space to read or work and the big yard to play games and have an evening fire, as well as
taking advantage of all Harwich Port has to offer with friends and family.

The house is wonderfully situated in a neighborhood of families who have lived here for years, take pride in their homes and gardens, and readily offer up a friendly wave. The house is a short, 0.4 mile, walk to Merkel Beach past
beautiful Wychmere Harbor on Snow Inn Rd, and 0.5 miles to Bank St. Beach where there is parking. It is
a short walk into Harwich Port downtown, which boasts several wonderful restaurants, bars, and shops,
including many that feature local artists. The bike bath is a short bike or car ride to Harwich Center
recreation area, that also offers a great playground, pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts.

Harwich is central to numerous activities to make your stay fun, whether on the beach or lakes, mini-golfing and
go-carts, museums, and nature walks, attending the infamous Cape Cod baseball league games(free) or
taking the local Harwich Port ferry to Nantucket.

The house sleeps eight, having three separate bedrooms (two queens, two twins) and two XL twin beds on
the porch which can be put together to form a king. There are three full bathrooms, two upstairs and one downstairs. A large eat in kitchen with an adjoining additional dining table. There are two separate living room areas. The house has air conditioning as well as ceiling fans. An outside shower exists off the kitchen back door porch where the grill is located. There are additional porches that allow the whole crowd to eat outside meals, one small sunny porch, and one with rocking chairs to watch passersby.

The indoor porch that surrounds ¾ of the house is a special bonus and where my kids have spent hours
playing Legos on the rug or reading in the swing and a favorite spot for an afternoon snooze or enjoying
morning coffee or evening cocktails. The yard is a large flat area that allows ample safe space for
running around and for playing games.

We know you will have a comfortable, memorable, and enjoyable stay and create lasting wonderful
summer memories.

Amenities - All areas are air conditioned by individual mini splits. Washer and dryer behind the kitchen.
The house provides four beach chairs, a small cooler and large bag cooler, eight beach towels and a
large beach cart. There is cornhole and croquet in the shed. There is a brio fire pit and chairs in the yard.
The driveway has room for four cars.

My name is Kim Chapin and the owner of this special property. I grew up on Cape Cod and graduated from Harwich high school. Our family has lived in several places from Alabama to every state in New England, CT and NJ! But the Cape is home. I have 3 wonderful sons, 2 in the military and one an artisan in VT. I bought this house from our former neighbors in Wilmington, MA. The picture in the breezeway is of all our kids on the beach!
I have spent the last 2 years updating both inside and out with help from the boys and friends from high school!
Our family hopes you truly enjoy your time on Cape Cod, whether here in our house or elsewhere. It is a magical place to be enjoyed.

What is special about this property?
I love this neighborhood! It is quiet and yet lively. You get to sleep at night but head to the beach and laugh with your friends, swim and then come home to a beautiful yard and sit on the deck.
There are so many things so close, a nice long walk along the beach areas, the bike path, and restaurants galore. You will become friends with the other vacationers on the beach because many have come back year after year.
The house has been renovated from top to bottom (ok, still the windows in the front to do), with new decks and landscaped so that your family can enjoy the outdoors at the house as much as at the beach. I like that with the walls open now...you can sit anywhere in the main living areas and be able to talk to everyone!

What is special about your town?
Being in the middle of the cape you are close (15-40 min away) to everything from the ferry boats to the islands, seal and fishing tours, Wed night music stroll in Harwichport, band concerts in Chatham, Cape Cod baseball league in every town, art galleries and whale watching in P-town or museum hopping along historic 6A (my mom's house is now the Brewster Historical Museum!). The newly extended bike path is 3 miles away with ample parking.
