    Exactly like it sounds

We just got back from a wonderful week at this Cape House.
The place was well stocked with fresh linens, towels, beach towels, recreational equipment, games, books, and household needs. Didn't need to bring much other than our clothes!
The place was clean and comfortable. So many amenities. We like to bike and this place is super close to the rail trail. There is even a back way to the trail (up Third Street) that avoids any major roads.
Hoping to go back next year.

    Great Location

This is a great 4 bedroom home to rent. We most appreciated the very quick access to the Rail Trail, being so close to Long Pond plus the water is beautiful to swim in, the beautiful kitchen and decor of the home. It's very bright and clean. We also enjoyed using the grill and sitting outside in the covered chairs! Loved those. This house was perfect for our needs and provided easy access to all the places we went. Our dogs were very comfortable in their own beds and miss their daily walks by the lake. Neighborhood is very quiet and feels very safe. The digital keypad is a great addition! No more searching for the key! show more show less

    Wonderful!

We had a wonderful week! The house is spacious and comfortable, and the open layout of the kitchen and family room is great (more open than it looked on the listing!). We loved the updated kitchen which had everything we needed, and the beds were comfy. In addition to bikes and beach chairs, there are plenty of board games to enjoy. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, and Long Pond at the end of the street is beautiful! We absolutely loved being able to walk or ride bikes to the adorable Pleasant Lake General Store down the bike path, and everyone we met was so friendly. We skipped the long lines at the downtown ice cream shops and walked or rode to get our own almost every night (no lines & yummy ice cream)! We even saw fireflies one night on the way back. The pizza & sandwiches they have at this little store are also delicious. The house is in a great location to enjoy all parts of the Cape. In addition to Harwich, we did beach days in Chatham, Dennis, and Eastham. Harwich Port is super cute for lunch & dinner, too! Norma Jean was so helpful and responsive with any questions we had and provided us with a lovely stay at Long Pond! Thank you! show more show less

    Wonderful Vacation Spot

5 Stars! Great home, super clean, with everything you need (including firewood for the fire pit) to enjoy your stay! A short walk to an amazing freshwater lake and a short drive to the beautiful sandy beach and port. Nice new appliances and flooring. There is a grocery, hardware, and "BigLots" store conveniently located just down the road. And a gas station with Dunkin Donuts is just a few minutes away to be sure you start your day out right. We could not be more pleased with the rental. Norma Jean knows how to ensure a great stay. Can't wait for next summer's visit! show more show less

    Lovely area

This house is lovely and has all the amenities to go with it. The neighborhood is very quiet. The little beaches at Long Pond are very clean and a great spot to sit and read a book or swim. We visited 3 Harwich beaches and they were all very nice - Pleasant Road Beach, Earle Road Beach, and Red River Beach; the last one was our favorite. One of our favorite things at the house was the fire pit! Toasting s'mores on a summer night - can't beat it!

Centrally-located Cape Cod home has everything you need and more!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to connect with the Homeowner through a family member and we're so glad we did! This home has everything and is perfectly situated to enjoy all the best things about the Cape! For our two week stay, we visited Provincetown, Chatham, and as far west as Falmouth! Even with traffic, we were only ever 45 minutes away from the farthest points on the Cape!

We frequently used the two lake access points along Long Pond, especially on days when we didn't feel like packing up the car to drive to the beach. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone, even other renters, were exceptionally friendly! We also rode the entire Rail Trial which was just minutes from the house (which comes with a set of bikes should you forget yours).

Inside the home, the newly renovated kitchen has everything you could ever think to use! We came entirely empty-handed and despite cooking many meals at the house (especially breakfast and lunch), there was never a time where we thought "We wish we had X," because the Homeowner has truly thought of everything!

The house itself is comfortable and cozy, just what you want for a vacation rental so you feel right at home from the start! We had plenty of space to store our things for our two week stay. We can't say enough good things about our experience and hope to come back next year!

Very nice place for family vacation

We had a very good time while at this property. Everything was properly handled and taken care of. Clean, convenient, lots of good kitchenware. Even table games for children and parents. Our favorite was the patio protected with a mosquito net and the open fireplace.

Walking proximity to a lake beach and very good quick ways to ocean beaches on both sides of the Cape. Old rail trail for bicycling or just for walking is less than half mile away. In particular I want to note the landlord's responsibility and kindness. show more show less

    Wedding weekend stay

We were attending a family wedding in Harwich and this was such a perfect place! Great accommodations, close to everything we needed to get to. We would have loved to have spent more time using the pond and bike path, but anyone staying here can know that the house is within a short walk to both (or bike ride). We had a wonderful time!!

    Vacations between lake and ocean

We appreciate the location of the house. Close to the lake and not too far from the beaches. The garden is amazing. We had wonderful breakfast around the picnic table. We had nice family vacations in this house. Thanks for that, Norma Jean.

Hello! My name is Norma Jean and I vacationed at the Cape for many years before becoming a homeowner in Harwich. We rented many homes previously and I had a good idea of what I appreciated in a vacation rental. My aim has always been to create a home where an extended family, or maybe 2 families could vacation together and enjoy their families without stress. I enjoy cooking, reading, gardening, tennis, skiing, and parenting two terrific college students. I am a hands-on curious and creative person too, and I always seem to have a list of projects to quench my thirst to create something new or improve something for the enjoyment of others.

Many renters travel a good distance to explore the Cape so I do my best to make sure there isn't anything a family would need and not find at my summer house. Pure 100% clean cotton linens are provided for every guest. Extra flip flops can be found in the outside shower if you forgot yours! Just bring yourselves and your swim suits and give yourself permission to decompress!

What is special about this property?
I fell in love with my home after discovering Long Pond for the first time. I had no idea a huge, crystal clear glacial lake existed on the Cape, and it is truly a well kept secret. Our neighborhood is extremely quiet and very safe for families as well as central to both ends of the Cape for every kind of excursion. We have deeded access to the lake at 3 points and there is never a crowd. Additionally, the water temperature is never too cold and it is truly crystal clear. It is absolutely perfect for young children. Additionally, the home is a short walk to a safe entrance to the Cape Cod Rail Trail. We are near the prettiest part of the trail where riders may pause at Seymour Pond or see a different side of Long Pond. Our family uses the very large mosquito net-enclosed gazebo every evening (absolutely necessary for sitting outside on a summer night) and dine alfresco. We also enjoy roasting marshmallows over the fire pit and walking to the tennis and basketball courts (and playground) through the back entrance of Cape Cod Tech HS. The house is unique because it allows a family to enjoy grandparents who might value a little bit of privacy, or a second couple who would appreciate their own bathroom. Two full baths and an outside shower is a pleasure! The location is truly perfect. Please learn more though this website or contact me with additional questions. It would be my pleasure to open my summer home to you and your family this summer!

What is special about your town?
Harwich is a wonderful town providing visitors with ocean and bay beaches, a great village center and of course the charming stores and restaurants of Harwichport. In the summer, Brooks Library is a winner for children with plenty of activities in case the weather brings you inside. The weekly free band concerts at the town bandstand are a terrific way to experience some old-fashioned entertainment. The neighborhood is always peaceful and quiet yet it is very easy to hop on Rte 6 to drive to the National Seashore or the bayside beaches. I think the best part of our location in the Pleasant Lake area of Harwich is walking to the little Pleasant Lake general store for an ice cream in the evening or a jumping on a bike for a ride on the most scenic part of the Cape Cod Rail Trail. What could be better than this?
