Plan a summer getaway to a breathtaking post-and-beam home on 3 very private wooded acres – with 250 feet of frontage on the Cape's largest freshwater pond. Large level backyard abuts our private sandy beach - providing hours of fun for kids and adults. Swim, boat, fish, … relax.
The open-concept first floor includes many custom amenities … airy 10-foot ceilings, hundreds of books, gourmet kitchen with double ovens & gas range, a large dining area, great room with a gorgeous granite fireplace, and a cozy den. Pond views are everywhere … out the 8' tall French doors in the great room, den, and MBR, which lead to a large roofed porch – where you can have morning coffee and take in views & spectacular sunsets.
Up the hand-made oak paneled curved stairway, you'll find more water views, a second MBR with bath, two more spacious bedrooms, a loft seating/reading area and a bath w/Jacuzzi. Start the day on the porch with your coffee, and visit with our goldfinches and hummingbirds. If you must, you can get connected via high-speed internet access - our wireless router allows you to ''work'' from the porch as well as the rest of the house.
Later on, relax on our beach, and take a paddle in our little yellow Keowee kayak or Yak board. Take a relaxing swim - the water is not only clear and inviting, it's normally much warmer than the ocean. Bring a fishing rod (kids don't need a license) and catch a small-mouthed bass or perch. Guests have reported lots of good fishing every year. By the way, you don't need a fancy bass boat for fishing success on our pond! We have a great photo of a happy five year old holding his 17 inch smallmouth bass along with his plastic Bart Simpson fishing rod. We'll leave some beach chairs and toys for the kids in the boathouse. Afterwards, freshen up in our outdoor shower.
The view has to be seen to be appreciated. Gorgeous sunsets over the water are common. From the beach, the porch, and the house look out over miles of shoreline with almost no visible houses. Just minutes from salt water, yet the feel of a secluded New Hampshire lake.
When you can tear yourself away from Long Pond, enjoy Harwich’s beautiful Nantucket Sound beaches (four miles south) or the Brewster flats on Cape Cod Bay (4 miles north). Head to the National Seashore (20 minutes by car). Want to get out to sea? Take a day trip to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard; or a whale watch out of Barnstable or P'town. The bike path is nearby, too. We’ll give you lots of ideas for restaurants, beaches, shopping and excursions. Shop for antiques, go to a play, sample cuisine from fried clams to exquisite formal meals. Or, you may find that the charm of Long Pond is all you need to make your vacation complete!
