Description

Description

Perfect for reunions, groups of friends, and family gatherings, this beautiful house was built by a 19th-century sea captain. A former B&B, the Main House + Guest House together have a total of seven bedrooms & seven bathrooms and are located just 5 minutes' walk from Falmouth's Main Street and beautiful village green.

The Main House:
The large captain’s house has six bedrooms - each with en-suite bathroom and premium cable TV - and is updated with a Scandinavian design aesthetic. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor and 4 bedrooms upstairs. A large, well-appointed kitchen has everything you need. The spacious living room with its gas fireplace invites you to curl up with a good book or movie. The front porch is a favored spot and a fire pit invites you to enjoy the garden on cool evenings. Please Note: See listing ID #33626 for more details and photos or to book the Main House only (without the Guest House).

The Guest House:
A Guest House is tucked behind the captain’s house. Clean and spacious, this studio apartment with beautiful cathedral ceiling has a private entrance, eat-in kitchenette, and premium cable television. It shares one lockable door with the big house - but has plenty of privacy. A wonderful spot to relax, it sleeps three comfortably (one king bed, and on request, we can make up a twin bed on a floor mattress). Please Note: See listing ID #33639 for more details and photos or to book the Guest House ONLY (without the Main House).

Additionally, we have a cozy private Loft Hideaway apartment, with its own entrance, above the detached garage on the property. See listing ID #33645 for photos and listing details, or to book the Loft apartment IN ADDITION to the Main and Guest Houses,or to book the Loft Hideaway separately.

More Photos: For all of our listings at 75 Locust, more photos can be found on our website: 75Locust dot com.

The village's quirky shops, patio restaurants, and green spaces are best enjoyed on foot. The village of Woods Hole & the ferry to Martha's Vineyard are an 8 min drive away. A wonderful bike path runs behind the property, taking you to Surf Drive Beach, with views of Vineyard Sounds. The closest beach is 0.9 miles from the house.

    Dream Vacation on the Cape

This home was a dream come true! 15 first time Cape Cod visitors arrived and were greeted by a beauty of a house with more space than we could have imagined. We enjoyed spending time in the parlor when we were between outings and the kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/dishes/utensils for us to eat in for some of our stay. It was so nice to have the sheets already on the beds and plenty of towels on site for us upon arrival. The property was so well kept and the kids enjoyed walking around and hanging outside. There was plenty of parking, too!
We took the easy walk to the main street a few times a day. There are so many shops and places to dine so close to the house. One of our favorite days was renting bicycles at the local
Shop and biking to Woods Hole for the day along the Shining Sea bike path. We stopped along the way at the local beaches to lay on the sand a few times. The house is located in an ideal area for day trips, too. Were took the local ferry to Martha's Vineyard for a day, went on a sailing excursion that took off just a few miles from the home, took a day trip to the CapeCod National Seashore and spent a day kayaking in Mashpee. It was the best vacation we have all had in such a long time. Thank you, Caroline and Victoria for sharing your home with our family and for the kindness you shared throughout the whole process!

    Perfect House

We had such an amazing time and this house was wonderful for my family. We had 6 couples and 3 children. Each couple had their own room with a bathroom. The beds were comfortable and having linens provided was a plus. The kids stayed in the inn-keepers suite; which was perfect since it connected to the rest of the house but allowed the kids to have their own space was super nice.

Having the two kitchens (and dishwashers) were great for such a large party. The living room was large enough for us to be in the same room and the deck was a great space for all of us to each together. They had some fun games and puzzles. I also left a new puzzle that was fun to put together. Details were thought us and provided such as beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and umbrellas. The fire pit was used most of the nights and the outside areas of the house were beautiful.

The location was perfect. It was easy to get to on the cape and easy to get to other locations easily. You could walk to lots of local attractions, rent a bike and bike the local trails, walk to the beach or ride bikes, and walk to town. Having a 7-11 next door was such an advantage when we needed something quick.

Last bonus was working with Victoria. She was so helpful throughout the process. She commented with use quickly and provided us with all the information we needed.

    Peaceful Retreat

We, a group of 4 families, stayed at this wonderful house which was one of the most delightful and peaceful vacations we have had at the cape! It is on the main road and near a lumber yard, but it is set back so it was quiet (did not hear the lumber yard at all) and peaceful when sitting on the deck after grilling dinner at the end of the day. It is an ideal location, a short distance to the biking trail to Woods hole. Along the way, there are small beaches that you can go to and spend part of the day. It is within walking distance to the center of town with cute ice cream shops and great coffee (coffee obsession). We also went to a ball game in town. The house is clean and has all the amenities you would want. When any issues did arise, they were addressed promptly without delay- the management was extremely responsive and made sure we had a wonderful stay. This house exceeded our expectations and we would certainly return again! show more show less

Our family rented this home for our daughter's wedding on the Cape. This home proved to be a central meeting place. The night before the wedding we had our immediate family and all the bridesmaids stay in the house so that we could be together to celebrate and to be together first thing in the morning when the hair, make-up crews and photographers arrived.
The house has such beautiful charm and detail that it made a perfect backdrop to so many beautiful wedding photos!
The open floor plan with living room, gas fireplace and dining area was ideal for gathering as was the large kitchen for prepping our brunch and mimosas. The kitchen had absolutely anything and everything you could possibly need.
The bedrooms (2 on the first floor), each with a private bathroom was clutch for getting everybody ready at the same time for the wedding event on Saturday. The spiral staircase added so much character and beautiful backdrop for photos too.
We were staying October 2022 and it was nice to turn the heat on at night by room to take the chill off and the gas fireplace added a warm cozy feeling!
Everyone commented that the beds were very comfortable.
Washer and dryer were available too.
The day after the wedding was also convenient at the house to be together one more time for brunch and goodbyes.
The outdoor space was beautiful though being so busy with the wedding we did not have a lot of time to use the fire pit and the beautiful grounds, but it provided great areas for photos for the wedding.
The house is in an ideal location and having a convenient store right next door proved to be very convenient! The walk-ability to downtown/Main Street in Falmouth was ideal as well.
Since I could not have hosted this event at my home this home was the closest thing to it! Communication with the hosts of this home was outstanding. Any questions were answered instantly and the hosts were local to address or assist with anything that could come up.
I would 100% recommend this house to any large family who want to be together while celebrating any event such as a wedding or reunion.
The only thing I would do differently is that I wish we stayed for a longer duration.
We will cherish our stay here together with wonderful memories for many, many years!! Until next time!!
    Thank you Caroline & Trevor!

Best Family Vacation We Have Experienced

My grown up children (with our 4 grandchildren), husband, and I have nothing but positive things to say about this vacation house! The pictures speak for themselves; it is ideal for a family reunion or for 2+ families to vacation together. Staying here was the highlight of our summer. The house itself had everything we wanted, but with visits to the beach, Falmouth Center, the Woods Hole Aquarium, Martha's Vineyard, etc.., we always had something fun to do. Most importantly, our hosts Caroline and Trevor were always available when we had any questions or concerns, and we felt that they always considered our comfort and experience as top priority. We can't wait to come back and look forward to next year! show more show less

    Best Family Vacation Ever

In mid September last year we booked the Captain Thomas Lawrence Inn for a family week together. We were 5 separate families and a total of 6 children and 10 adults. The Inn was perfect. The area was safe with a big lawn to romp on, very comfortable Adirondack chairs, very comfortable beds and accommodations and a nice fire pit. We were so close to downtown Falmouth that we just walked everywhere. The Fall weather was great so we loved just hanging out together, cooking, eating, talking, playing and just being together in this very homey atmosphere. We are returning again this year because we loved it so much. I highly recommend this place. show more show less

    The best ever family vacation

This was such a lovely vacation rental. We arrived there with 4 households getting together on this family reunion, and had just a fabulous time, with everyone getting together for breakfast in the perfect kitchen, dinners in the dining room and otherwise being able to visit Falmouth and the Cape together or in groups. With 6 grandchildren there loving it and playing both indoors and on the grounds, it was lively. The rooms were fabulous, the grounds newly renovated and upgraded, the parking convenient - it was something we are all talking about still and planning to do again this year. show more show less

Captain Lawrence Inn - Cottage Labor Day Weekend 2021

We rented the Cottage along with the Inn and Loft for our extended family stay while our daughter was married in Woods Hole over Labor Day weekend. The rooms exceeded our expectations. My brother's family stayed in the Cottage and he was able to get some work done in the separate space and still be close to the rest of the family. The property was also perfectly located within walking distance to Main Street Falmouth and a short drive or bike ride to Woods Hole. Thank you for providing a wonderful stay! Definitely recommend the Cottage for a couple or small family and the entire property for a large family gathering. show more show less

I was born in Denmark but spent much of my life traveling, living, and working in many countries, on most of the continents. My family has run hotels for several generations. I can appreciate how important it is to have a comfy, cozy place to come home to after a long day out and about on Cape Cod.
After years of crafting experiences for others, I decided to create a place of my own where guests can unwind, explore, and make lasting memories. Falmouth, with its sandy shores, has been the backdrop to many a summer dream. Our home here stands as a testament to the area's rich history and vibrant community spirit. It's a place where old-world charm meets modern comfort, where sunrise promises a day of wonder.

What is special about this property?
The home is a unique former Whaling Captain's residence built in the 1860s by Captain Thomas Lawrence. Captain Lawrence, a figure of resilience and adventure, was not only a prominent member of the local community but also the captain of three notable ships: the Addison, the Anaconda, and the Alto. He and his four brothers, all deeply ingrained in the whaling industry, contributed to the rich maritime history that defines Cape Cod and the Islands.

The estate's exterior, with its sunny front porch, whispers 18th Century charm and elegance, while the inside is all polished with crisp, tasteful Scandinavian design aesthetic. A former Inn, the house has six furnished bedrooms - each with en-suite bathroom and TV: two bedrooms on the first floor and four bedrooms upstairs. Very spacious, perfect for family gatherings or a large group of friends. The location is wonderful, as you can walk to the village, to Highfield Hall and all the trails behind it, as well as the Shining Sea bike path and countless other walks to trails around ponds and through estuaries.

What is special about your town?
Falmouth is a beautiful coastal town on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It's known for its beaches, many of them across from the island of Martha's Vineyard. From the house, you can stroll to the quintessential Village of Falmouth with its shops, restaurants, cafes and bakeries; enjoy the fresh sea air on the beach; take a walk, run or a ride on one of the scenic bike paths, just a stone's throw away from your doorstep. Down the street 3 miles is the beautiful, small Woods Hole village, with ferries to the Vineyard and a small Science Aquarium - home to lots of marine life.
So come, let our home be your gateway to the Cape Cod experience—a place where stories come alive, laughter fills the air, and the ocean's melody lulls you to sleep. Here, in our Falmouth haven, let the magic of the Cape embrace you.
