Our home at 30 Emerson in North Eastham was built by our parents in the early 1980's. They are now deceased, but their four children continue to own the house and enjoy it when they can. As a family, we have enjoyed many Cape summers there, going to the ocean and bay beaches, cycling, hiking, bird-watching, golfing, visiting P-town, Hyannis, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, and enjoying many memorable lobster, oyster, and steamer meals on the deck, followed by Pinochle or other card games into many late nights! We, as the owners, take pride in the home, making sure to take care of any issues, updating as we can, and hope that those who are fortunate enough to choose our home for their vacation treat it with the same respect that we do. Since the four of us are located in different states throughout the country, we use a rental agent to handle leases, payments, and key pick-up and drop off.
What is special about this property?
Our home is very comfortably laid out, with four large bedrooms and a bathroom on each level, including one in the walk-out basement. Having the outdoor shower is a real treat after coming home from the beach! The open kitchen, dining, and living area adds to the comfy feeling. Those who have stayed have expressed how comfortable they were and how it feels like home for them. The deck on the side of the house with a large picnic table and umbrella is perfect for family meals and barbeques. Since our home is located on a large, treed lot, neighbors are not on top of us, and sitting on the deck is very peaceful, with only birds chirping as background noise. Having AC units in each bedroom and in the living area is important for those humid summer days and nights. We have high speed WiFi and Xfinity cable with the Preferred Digital package for three TVs. The washer and dryer are high capacity, and are located in the basement.
What is special about your town?
The North Eastham location of our home is perfect for nature lovers, with many hiking and biking trails nearby. Nauset Light Beach and Coast Guard Beach are both incredibly scenic, and if the water is too cold there, the bay beaches and Wiley's Pond are great for swimming, especially for children, all within biking distance. Coast Guard Beach is frequently on Dr. Beach's annual list of the Top 10 Beaches in the US (including Hawaii). In 2018, it ranked #5! Access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail is about ½ mile from the house, and those adventurous enough can safely explore up to the Province Lands natural area (with paths to Race Point and Herring Cove beaches), and down to Nickerson State Park, Chatham and beyond, by bike. Along with the ocean, bay and pond beaches located in Eastham, our location is also convenient for grocery or other shopping in Orleans, going out to many great area restaurants, and for exploring the rest of the Cape or the Islands. Arnold's Lobster and Clam Bar (ranked #9 in the country in Coastal Living's Best Seafood Dives of All Time!) is located a mile from the house, The National Seashore Visitor Center is close by in Eastham, and the National Park Service offers organized hikes and nature walks, along with trails throughout the Cape Cod National Seashore, which begins in Eastham. The nearby Massachusetts Audobon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary also offers organized nature walks and hiking trails.
