Description

Amazing summer beach days and sunsets await you at Thumpertown Beach. Just stroll down the road from your summer beach cottage which is your base camp for all things fun on Cape Cod this summer.
Everyone is enjoying each other’s company while relaxing in the hammock and sitting around the deck watching the friendly competition going on in the bocce court, or the crazy game of badminton happening at the nets. See what is growing in the guests garden this year or take out one of the kayaks and paddle around the bay. You take a deep breath and breathe in that salty Cape air, breathing out the tensions and feeling the stress leave you like the tides. Splashing around on the flats at low tide will keep the kids entertained for hours as well.
The two-bedroom cottage has all the creature comforts. The first bedroom has a comfortable full bed for two. The second bedroom houses a bunk bed consisting of two single beds and the sunroom has a trundle bed that pulls out into two more beds. Like most daybeds, the trundle may not be the most comfortable for a full-sized man of six feet tall and 250 lbs., but one or two smaller adults, teens, or children would be just fine.
The full-sized kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal but even so, who wants to cook when you are in one of the best vacation areas on Cape Cod? Each reservation comes with an award-winning guide to the best local’s insider tips and places to go, things to do, and places to see. You will also be staying close to Wiley Park and Great Pond, some of the greatest freshwater kettle ponds on the Cape. Hop on the Cape Cod Rail Trail and take a ride out to Nauset Light or maybe to the Chocolate Sparrow for a coffee. Everything is within reach here for the perfect family vacation.
Our Thumpertown Beach cottages are the perfect place to create memories that will last a lifetime. We would love to share all that Cape Cod has to offer, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have!

    Review for Cape Visit 2017

My grandparents took my sisters and brother here when we were little kids. It's so nice to be back at the same cottage. Of course some renovations have been made to the cottage, but it still feels like home. I love that the beach is just a short walk away. Being on the bay side, the water is so much warmer than going to Nauset Beach. The sunsets are absolutely breathtaking. The first time I came to this cottage was 1974. Eastham is such a great town. Thumpertown Road will always hold a special place for me in my heart. I have so many grateful memories with my grandparents here, and I am forever thankful they introduced me to Eastham.

The beach is perfect for families with small children, very little to no waves. Sometimes, it's almost pond like. It is amazing when the tide is out. So many sand bars to walk miles and miles and just explore. One thing I do miss most is not seeing the target ship out in the bay. Back in the 70's, I remember the airplanes from Otis Airbase taking target practice on the ship. It was quite a sight to watch. Even though I am a 52 year old man, I still act like a little kid when the ice cream truck pays a visit daily at the beach. (I work it off climbing the stairs.)

The cottage is small, but cozy. It does sleep 6, so not really that small. I have been coming here for many years, and I plan to continue to come and rent here for many more years. When the tide is high, there is not that much beach room, but that's okay for me, I spend hours in the water. I usually just float along my boogie board. The new patio added makes having dinner at the table more family friendly than sitting around the old picnic table which is fine too.

The restaurants, especially Arnold's, is a must. If you don't feel like cooking out, I highly recommend Arnold's. It's close by and by far has the best food. Of course the Red Barn is not to be missed either. From pizza to ice cream to mini golf, they have it all. The Welfleet Drive-In Theater is not a far drive if you want to check out hit double feature movies. Eastham has it all. And if it doesn't, it's just a short drive away.

With us, our routine was simple: Get up, go to the beach, spend all day there, come home for dinner, walk back down to the beach after dinner to catch the amazing sunsets, go out and play a mean round of mini golf, get ice cream, then back to the cottage. There are so many different mini golf courses around Eastham. My favorite is the one in Orleans. Each hole is named after a Cape town. These cottages are so well kept. I'm sure it's not easy to keep up with the maintenance, but the owners do a great job. It's sad to see summer pass us by. I truly cannot wait for August 2018 to get here.

    Bill,
This brought tears to my eyes as I remember time spent with family as a young child on this same beach. You might have been playing on the sand bars right next to us! Thanks so much for the wonderful review.

    Sincerely,
    Diane

    Great Family Cottage

We have been going to the Cape for years and started staying at this cottage when our twins were 2. They are 5 now and love it! It's a quick walk to the beach, and we come back and can play in the yard. There's a beautiful bocci court, nice deck, and just a great place to relax with you family. We cannot wait to come back!!

    Great Family Vacation

My family and I have been coming to Eastham for six straight years, and the stay at the Ocean Cottage was perhaps my most enjoyable one to date. The cottage is cozy and clean with just the right amount of space for my family. The outdoor deck is a great place to relax and the gas grill was used quite a bit. Our favorite place to sleep was the screened in porch -- great breeze. We enjoyed the closeness to Thumpertown Beach and Wiley's Pond. You can tell the owners take great pride and care of the property, and if you stay here don't forget to check out the Bocci Court. show more show less

Easy walk to bay beach for swimming and watching sunsets. Ocean beaches and bike path only a few miles away. Home neat and clean. Wonderful outdoor shower! Homeowner very helpful and pleasant to work with. Handled a hot water problem quickly and efficiently on a Sunday with little inconvenience to renter. In true old fashioned Cape cottage style the bedrooms are small and certainly would promote serious family "togetherness" if there were 5 people. Very helpful information about area attractions in book left by homeowner. Thank you for a lovely 2 week stay. show more show less

    A great find!

What a find! As long time Cape vacationers, we are always on the lookout for rental properties that will be suitable for not only for our immediate family but also for our growing, extended family of teens, young adults and families with young children. Happy to say this property is great for all. This cottage, located steps away from Thumpertown Beach, is situated on property that consists of two cottages and a beautifully renovated three bedroom house. While the cottages and house are on the same land, they offer plenty of privacy from each other while also offering lots of space for kids to play and for older "kids" to socialize outside.

It could be the perfect place for a family reunion, wedding or other large group gathering should one choose to rent the entire property. ( house and two cottages). Just think, A sunset wedding on Thumpertown Beach could then move easily to an outdoor celebration just a short walk away! So many possibilities!

The cottage we stayed in was nicely appointed with everything we needed for our family vacation. We loved the beach, riding bikes, outdoor clam bakes on the deck and even golf at several of the beautiful courses that are a short drive from this location.
The owners are easy to deal with and very helpful in providing local info about things to do and see. The location is close to many of the most popular attractions and is a great central location for seeing just about everything on the Cape.

Whether you are a returning Cape visitor or a "wash ashore," this property is definitely worth looking into.

    Finally, a place for relaxation

We have enjoyed staying at many places during our retirement years and not sticking to one location year after year; nor have we purchased a "retirement home" that we are stuck with. This worked to our advantage when we came across this delightful, newly renovated cottage here in Eastham. Bright and airy, the entire atmosphere of this dream cottage demanded relaxation, just what we needed.

We are a "been there, done that" couple and didn't need to traipse all over Cape Cod to get a feel of Cape Cod living. What we found was the peace and quiet of a lovely home just a few minutes walk to an immaculate beach that was not crowded right at the end of Thumpertown Road. To us, that was Cape Cod living. Who could ask for anything more? Well, we didn't, but we did get more. How? We met the owners who happened to stop by to make sure that all our needs were met. If I remember their names correctly, Bill & Diane went above and beyond our expectations as to what owners should provide their guests, and they did it with easy-going personalities and style.

We were completely satisfied with our accommodations, the length of our stay, and the surrounding area. We plan to visit again in the near future; assuming, of course, word doesn't get around leaving us with difficulties in booking our next vacation with Bill and Diane.

Thank you for taking care of what is now nearly 50 years of history for my family. Your kind attention to all the small necessities provided the 5 of us with all we needed this week. Very nice to see a few subtle original cottage elements that have survived the renovations to date. Looking forward to another stay in 2015.

Thanks for a great week. Love the cottage. The outdoor shower is the best. Thumpertown beach is perfect. We love to walk to the beach in the morning and for the sunset. WE had great weather and thoroughly enjoyed friends and family
