Description

Description

200 yards from the beach! A three-minute walk past the Dennis Senior Softball Field and down the apple blossom path gets you to Corporation Beach where you can turn right to spread your beach towel or go left to be closer to the snack shack.

The Seaside Cottage is located near Dennis village which hosts several restaurants, village shops and venues with live performances. Time stops when you enter this simple, 1940s era, 3-bedroom cottage, harkening back to the age of knotty-pine walls, board games and stargazing. The 750 sq. ft. cottage is well maintained, surrounded by open space, has an outdoor and an indoor shower, and is located on a road with little traffic.

Pets okay.

The cottage, built in the 1940s, has become a favorite summer vacation spot for Canadiens. In fact, the same family, now covering many generations, has been renting it steadily since the 1950s. After the passing of Charlie Crowell, I took over the management of the property for my in-laws. Making reservations this summer has been a challenge as several of the regular Canadian families have held back given the uncertainty regarding tariffs and travel restrictions. This is why this listing appears as a new listing – up until this summer, there was little need to advertise. I live on the same block (a short walk through back path leads to other Crowell properties and my own) and so I'm just a text away should there be a need for a handyman or a recommendation.

What is special about this property?
Seaside Cottage sits in the middle of 3 undeveloped lots so privacy and quiet rule the days here. There's plenty of space to spread out lawn games and chairs. The cottage was outfitted with new windows several years ago so summer breezes are a constant through the rooms. There are no electronic distractions other than oscillating fans that match the sound of the waves not far off. Across the street is the Charles E. Tripp Field which hosts the Senior Softball League where games are played frequently. It's a great way to spend a summer evening as you catch the action and get to know the local players and teams.

What is special about your town?
Dennis village is packed with restaurants, shops and entertainment venues. There are a dozen restaurants, several unique shops, and a grocery store all within a mile of the cottage. Everything from fine dining to hotdog stands exist in this quaint part of Dennis. Eden Hand Arts (where the original Cape Cod bracelet was crafted) and Scargo Pottery (a throwback to 1960s commune living) are staple providers of unique artwork. Dennis village is also home to the Cape Playhouse, Cape Cod Museum of Art, 1736 Josiah Dennis Manse Museum and the Cape Cinema - each unique in their architecture and offerings. The Village Green hosts free local entertainment every Monday evening and artist's flea markets throughout the week. And for the sweet-tooth in your group, ice cream, candy, gelato and donut shops are ready to serve!
