Modern & Spacious! Centrally located, sleeps 15!

Our family has been coming to the Cape for 50+ years and as the family has grown we have needed bigger homes to stay together. Once we find a vacation rental that suits us, we are repeat renters for years!! The last house we had we rented for 15 years in row. There are now 13-15 adults ranging in age from 76 to 21 and we need a more spacious house with lots of beds and baths. We have a lot of experience in what makes a great return rental. This home has a lot of space inside and out. It's clean and the kitchen/living area is great for lots of people. The owner has done a good job with the remodel but it still seems to be a work in progress. It's the amenities that are lacking. The bedrooms are large but NO CLOTHING STORAGE. There are no dressers and living out of a suitcase for over a week is horrible. All the bedroom closets except the master had hanging rods. The master was huge but no where to put away or hang clothes. The bathrooms have no towel bars or hooks...which makes things difficult and wastebaskets in only 2 of 3 bathrooms. When there are 13 people using 2.5 bathrooms large wastebaskets and towel hooks are necessary. Bathroom and/or hall nite lites would be great since it's so dark at nite navigating to the bathrooms. The hall bathroom has no blind or curtain on the window so its a bit uncomfortable coming out of the shower. There were no hand towels or floor bath mats. There was no place inside the laundry room or outside to hang wet bathing suits / towels.... a drying rack or lines would be nice. The kitchen needs to better stocked with pots and pans, large bowls, and storage containers. The pots and pans that were there were small and some had burnt food on the bottoms. We went out and bought pots to use. There are no kitchen dish towels and one hot mitt for the oven. The oven needed to be cleaned...every time we cooked in the oven, the smoke detectors went off. Since we are close to the beach, there is no vacuum or electric broom for sweeping the floors. There was a broom but no dust pan. There is no "Guest Binder" that gives you house info like garbage day, wifi info, tv info, and just general house info that is great for guests to have There were several wall damages behind all the doors.... no door stoppers so the handles had made holes in the walls. We were told that the original dining room table, that sat 6-8 people, was broken and there was a temporary replacement which only sat 4 . We ended up bringing the outside patio table inside so we could all sit together for meals. When a house can accommodate up to 15 people you need adequate seating. The basement is nicely remodeled but very damp...needs a humidifier. Could not watch tv down there because the tv was on the floor. The garbage storage was a MESS. There is only one garbage can in the garage and one day for garbage pick up. We had 13 people and A LOT of garbage....it stunk and attracted lots of flies. You need to provide more garbage cans and have pick up during the summer more than once a week. Also on night two we went to cook on the grill and BOTH propane tanks were empty. We had to go fill them ourselves. This should always be checked before new renters.
This could be an awesome house if these amenities are addressed....especially for the rental cost.
Owner communication was ok--I texted several times about issues like towels, clothing storage etc and communication was few and far between with really no resolutions except for telling us to fill the propane tanks ourselves.
The house is in a great location near restaurants, beaches, shopping etc.
It's the details that make an awesome house and have return guests. show more show less
