Velkommen til waterfront ShoestringBayHouse. We sit directly on beautiful Popponesset Bay (our bay connects to Vineyard Sound). Get ready to enjoy a waterfront vacation home overlooking Shoestring Bay and your own wading beach where you can launch the included (adult use) sit-on-top kayaks. If the beach and ocean are not your thing, relax by our unheated in-ground pool (open July 1st thru approx Sept 6th) or take one of our included (adult use) bicycles and go for a tour of Cotuit or the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Our home has multiple living areas, each with spectacular water views and six central air-conditioning units, so all members of the group can have a secluded spot to watch television, read or just relax. There is even a second TV room and kitchen just for the teens. Our home is just 10 minutes from Mashpee Commons and New Seabury where you will find unparalleled dinning, shopping and entertainment.

Some of the included amenities and home features: *Barnstable (town-wide) Beach Pass *20x40 In-ground Pool (not heated) *Central Air Conditioning *Two (adult only) sit-on-top Kayaks *Two (adult only) Hybrid Bikes *Two TV Rooms, one with a 65'' TV plus 4 other TV's all with YouTubeTV streaming services *secondary ''prep'' kitchen * Weber Grill *Dog friendly with attached fenced in yard*. *Comcast High Speed internet *Bose, Sonos &/ or google music (inside & outside) systems *Poolside shower room and urinal* Upper deck rinse station for when you come back from the beach *screened-in porch by the pool *corn-hole boards *beach and/or sand chairs (limited availability) *Essential Rentals has many summer vacation specialty items, such as linens and towels, cribs, children's bikes and kayaks, beach accessories and chairs, etc. (during ''prime summer'' receive a $200 credit towards children's bike or kayak rentals from Essential Rentals)

This home, located in a child friendly (great for biking) and quiet neighborhood, is perfect for two families vacationing together, extended families or grandparents. With a separate master suite and multiple living rooms, everyone will be comfortable. Our waterfront home has four bedrooms, four full baths, one half-bath off the of the lower kitchen, one large sun room with attached outdoor dining deck (seats 8), a large living room adjoins the dining room with seating for ten. There is direct access from the kitchen to the upper deck, where you will find a Weber grill. The media room houses a sleeping alcove (with two day beds) and is adjacent to a full bath.

We know how important your fur family member is to you and we welcome your well behaved dog. Our home features a fenced-in doggie play area that is attached to the garage. And speaking of ''pet friendly'' our home is adjacent to the Crocker Neck conservation area with miles of dog friendly hiking trails. This is one of the few dog friendly areas that you and your dog can enjoy together. There is even a small beach at the end of the trail where your dog can jump in the bay and cool off. NOTE: Our pet fees ($475) are not based on dog size, type or fur style. You always have the option to not bring your dog. (ask me why our pet fee's have increased)

Cotuit Beach Info: Since ShoestringBayHouse includes a beach pass you can drive to any of the numerous beaches in Barnstable. Within biking distance (2+ bikes included) of our home are four town beaches. Mostly everyone heads over to Cotuit's Loop Beach with its gentle slope into the water. It also has a bath house and lifeguards so everyone will be safe and have fun. The kids love it when the ice cream truck rings its bell to signal its stop at the beach! Adults love the seclusion of the Main St (Oregon) or Riley’s Beach while sailors and kayakers love Ropes beach for its location in Cotuit Bay.

Our own wading beach (see picture) directly in front of our home is great for walking, sunsets, relaxing, crab chasing, playing catch with your dog and the kids will love wading in the water. You can also anchor your boat right in front of our home and head out to the Spit or Sampson's Island for the day.

About our green amenities: Everyone in New England is talking about Global Warming and going green. If you truly believe this, let me tell you how you can be "green" at ShoestringBayHouse. Bet you will not be green....step one, turn the air conditioning to 70 degrees or higher ! Shoestring Bay House

Been coming to Shoestring Bay house for years on our annual fishing trip of 8 to 10 guys. Great clean accomodations and ample room for our gear including kayaks. Paul is an incredible host and readily available when needed. We treat and feel like its our own home. Highly recommend!

    Beautiful Place!!

Loved the open layout with a wall of windows overlooking the picturesque view of the inlet. Each bedroom was also lucky to share the views. Beds were comfortable and the many bathrooms was a treat for my family. Location was perfect. Very private and quiet yet close to everything.
Would love to go back again!
Paul was excellent to work with - super quick with responses and very kind.

    Peaceful waterfront location

Watching birds on the water in the morning and relaxing in the pool at the end of the day made this a great choice for a relaxing stay, the house was organized and the experience seamless.

    Super Family Vacation/Ages 7 to 82

We enjoyed this lovely home with all its amenities and gorgeous views. So private and peaceful! We appreciated the owner's attention to every detail to make us comfortable. The pool is outstanding. We pooled, beached, fished, kayaked, whale watched and ate lots of lobster. A perfect family vacation!

A week in the Cape - August 2022

My family and guests of 6 had a great stay. House is very clean and furnishings are nice. We appreciated that it was not full of too much decorative stuff like so many rental places. Plenty of room for us and out vacation gear. Renovation was 95% done and remainder was not a problem. Location on a quiet bay/inlet is terrific, as we brought our old sunfish and rented a pontoon boat (Jake at All Cape Rentals) and kept both boats near with access from the house. Sunfish sailing needs to be +/- a few hours of high tide. We were very comfortable and Paul provided a lot of detailed information on what to do nearby and also while on the water. The neighborhood is quiet and secluded, and there is a walking path just down the road which was great. The pool was not heated but the temperature was very warm. I was a little worried about that as some unheated pools are too cold to use comfortably. We rent houses a lot. This one is a really good one, especially for the kind of water things we like to do. show more show less

"Our time at Shoestring Bay House with the well-kept, natural surroundings and varied recreation it provides was truly wonderful. It's a beautifully spacious house whose thoughtful design, accommodating owner and warm, artful touches helped to make this one of the most memorable and idyllic vacations our multi-generational family group has ever had. Many thanks!"

    Blissful vacation!

Lovely comfortable home with beautiful vistas from every room. There are no bad bedrooms . We loved the kayaks and spent a lot of time paddling around the bay.
We left the premises to dine out(thanks for the list of favorite eateries). But no one wanted to go anywhere else! Terrific vacation home which pleased three generations. That's not easy to do!

    Amazing week in the Cape!

We had an amazing week at the ShoestringBay House! We got lucky with the weather, but felt even luckier to find such a perfect retreat - the pictures didn't do any justice! We had our first family vacation in years - being on the water, having the pool for the kiddos, and still being so close to town and amenities was wonderful. The home had SO much space so it was nice to have room to spread out when we needed it but also plenty of living space for movie nights & family dinners.

Paul the host was great, always very quick to reply with questions and the house had everything we could possibly need. We will definitely be back! :-)

ShoestringBayHouse was acquired by my parents Paul and Audrey Thompson in May of 1981. After their first visit to Cotuit in 1977, they fell in love with the serenity of this quaint village. In the early 2000's the property moved into a Trust and is now a family retreat.

What is special about this property?
We love the serenity of Shoestring Bay and the views of the water from the bluff that our home sits on. Every room and deck has an incredible view of the water.

What is special about your town?
Cotuit is known as one of the quieter villages in Barnstable. When we are looking for some excitement we always head to Lowell Field for a Triple A baseball game. Go Kettleers !!!
