Description

Description

After walking by the beautiful hydrangeas and entering through the front door you will realize this house is much more spacious than it looks from the outside. From the comfortable living room with the adjoining dining area you can look into the very spacious family room with a 32 square foot picture window that overlooks the large back yard bordered by trees. The family room room also has a table for dining with a pass through window from the kitchen and a desk for those needing to keep up with things at the office.

The black and white eat in kitchen has an Electrolux wall oven, a newer Bosch dishwasher, a Jennaire ceramic cook top, a Keurig and a drip coffee maker, granite counter tops and recessed lights.

There are two bedrooms on this level, the first has a queen size bed and the second has two twins. Check out the nautical look. There is a full bath with tub and shower. All floors on this level are oak except for the kitchen and bath which are ceramic tile.

As you proceed downstairs to the walk out lower level the washer dryer will be on your left. To the right will be three twin beds which are a perfect set up for children or guest overflow. This room shares a closet with the other bedroom on this floor.

The fourth bedroom has a queen bed, a flat screen TV, a full bath (no tub) and its own private entrance if desired. Great for the in-laws, babysitter or a second couple.

The large back yard has lawn furniture, a picnic bench for 8, a gas grill and an enclosed outside shower. The back yard is big enough for whiffle ball, croquet, or whatever else you may like to play. Further, it is not at all close to any roads.
Ridgevale Beach is a quick walk down the road (or you can drive, there is parking). This beach is beloved by families. The Chatham Bike Trail which connects to the Cape Cod Rail Trail is less than a mile away.

Marian's Pie Shop is also an easy walk and her cinnamon rolls are legendary. The center of downtown Chatham is about 3.5 miles and can be reached via the bike trail if so desired.

Ridgevale Beach (10 minute walk) is very special for the way its tidal stream forms a virtual moat around the beach proper. That stream creates a stretch of sandy beach with no waves where younger children can enjoy the sand and water without the surf. Older kids can have a ball riding inflatables, going with the flow of the incoming and outgoing tides. Truly Mother Nature's Water Park.

Chatham village is a short 5 to 10 minute ride where you will find great shops, restaurants and galleries. Enjoy the quaint movie house, band concerts on the green and the popular Chatham A's college baseball. Also, don't forget to hit one of the many ice cream parlors in town one of which is less than a mile from the house.

    Yet another great stay

We rented this house- again- for a long weekend and once again everything was perfect! The house was so clean, so perfect for our extended family! Lots of room for everyone to spread out, the yard was great foe a game of cornhole- and the best thing of all is working with Paul, the owner. He is more than accommodating and always a pleasure to work with.
We are renting this house again in Sept- and already planning 2025!

    Another great Stay

This is our second time renting this house and we could not be happier with it- plan to rent same week next year. The house fits our needs, the kitchen is well equipped and everything is really clean! Everyone mentions in there reviews how nice Paul is to work with- so true! Always available if you have a question- its so nice to work with the homeowner and he goes above and beyond! Would highly recommend renting this house! We will be!

    Wonderful!

Our family of 6 just returned from a week's stay at this lovely home in Chatham. It was everything you would expect from a Cape home right down to the beautiful hydrangeas and outdoor shower! There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out and we were even able to bring our two small pups. Paul is a very responsive owner and was even able to provide us with an early check in. The home is spotlessly clean and the furnishings and beds were comfortable. This was our first stay on Ridgevale Dr but I don't think it will be the last. show more show less

Nice property walking distance to Ridgevale Beach

Property was as described and in clean condition. We had all the utensils, cookware, dishes etc… needed for cooking/grilling when we opted to dine in. The beds were comfortable however as we were all adults, I think the property better suits families with kids since 3 twins were in the basement in an open area as well as a separate bedroom with bath on this level ideal for parents. This was clearly shown in the photos and does not reflect negatively on how it was presented. The outdoor shower does not provide enough privacy-probably fine for little ones but the adults hesitated to do more than just rinse sand off with bathing suit on. We were able to bring our dog which was great. The best part of this rental was the proximity to lovely Ridgevale Beach. A short walk or drive allowing us to go back for lunch and then return to the beach without much effort. Paul was excellent to work with and allowed us to check in early as soon as the property had been cleaned. This was such a bonus enabling us to avoid later in the day traffic. All in all had a great week and Mother Nature cooperated by giving us lots of sunshine and warm temps! show more show less

    Wonderful stay on Ridgevale

We have been spending a month at this beautiful property for several years. It is well equipped, clean, comfortable and bright. It easily accommodated our multi generation family. Paul and Marian are easy to contact and are very responsive. Ridgevale Beach - a beautiful beach - is just a short walk down the street. We look forward to spending more summers at this lovely cottage with our children and grandchildren.

Complete Gem of a Home in a Perfect Location.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this home near one of the best beaches on the cape. This house was perfect for us, our 35-pound dog, our almost-4-year-old, and her grandparents. If you are traveling with kids, Ridgevale beach is a short walk down the street (or opt for a weekly parking pass if you're lugging a bunch of stuff). It is the best beach on the cape for kids—tide pools and streams for playful net fishing and very warm water. The homeowner was excellent to communicate with and he showed extreme caring/kindness during our stay. The home's location makes it ideal to check out several beaches, plus numerous restaurants of all variations in both Chatham and Harwich Port. We could not recommend this home enough for a quintessential cape code experience. show more show less

    Off-season Rental

We very much enjoyed our 7 and a half month stay on here. The house is charming and we found it very comfortable. It easily accommodated family over the holidays. The family room is filled with light from the large picture windows and was a lovely place to relax. Paul was easy to contact and a responsive, caring landlord. We found the location perfect for walks to the beach and the marsh and liked the convenience of a short drive to nearby restaurants and stores.

Even better than the first time!

This was my second time renting this oversized cottage and again it did not disappoint! Most important it was as clean as the first time. Knowing how close Marion's Pies was we ordered seafood pies for the football game on Sunday right from the oven. They were still piping hot when we got home.

We discovered Ridgevale beach last year and loved it. This year we walked to it daily. We were able to take our dog again which was great.

The owner of this cottage is very easy to deal with and responds to any questions almost immediately. He also uses Venmo which is very convenient. I highly recommend this rental. I think next year we will plan for two weeks vacation here instead of one! show more show less

    Another great week!

This house is as shown in every photo- very clean, very comfortable and worked great for our multi-generational family, lots of room to spread out. We were so lucky to have a great week weather wise, so lots of beach time and this house has lots of beach chairs and umbrellas to use- plus yard furniture so we could enjoy the yard in the evenings. Great outside shower too! Kitchen was lovely to cook in- so bright and airy! Loved it!

We were traveling with my 92 year old Aunt who is on Oxygen and Paul (homeowner) helped us every step of the way, mainly letting us have an early arrival so we could situate my aunt. He will never know how grateful for that I was!

I would highly recommend this house and plan to rent this house again next year!

I went to Chatham in the Spring of 1977 to attend a conference at CBI. It was my first ever visit but I immediately knew it wouldn't be my last. In June 1980 we started looking for a second home on Cape Cod--it didn't take long to decide that Chatham was where we wanted to be. After looking at numerous properties we were lucky in September of 1982 to see a newspaper ad for this house. It was love at first site--quality construction, a super fabulous location and it felt like home.

We were lucky! At that time is was a sprawling three bedroom, 2 bath all on one floor home. As our family continued growing (and getting married) we knew it was time to expand. We added approximately 2,000 square feet mostly as a second level - to include two more bedrooms and two ore bathrooms plus 2 large common rooms.

Every time I plan on going there I feel as excited as I was when we first owned it. It is a special place.

What is special about this property?
Location, location, location. Quiet neighborhood on a private road yet a 10 minute walk to the Oyster Pond and a 15 minute walk to the heart of downtown Chatham. For an after dinner stroll head down the street to Stage Harbor or walk the ''popular loop''.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable and there are 12 of them so an ideal place for your family/group to enjoy each others company yet still be able to have some private space and quiet time.

Just about a mile from the Bike trail or head in the other direction to the Lighthouse Beach.

The lot is large and has a flat area in the back for whiffle ball, croquet, corn whole or just playing tag and blowing bubbles.

This house has hosted many memory making events for my family as well as the families of numerous other satisfied tenants over the years. Sixtieth wedding anniversary, several 80th birthdays, multi-generational family gatherings with people descending from all across the country or the globe.

I had one tenant for the month of July who came back every year for 25 years until such time as her health prevented it. In her obituary it was mentioned that her most favorite place on earth was the house she rented in Chatham for the month of July.
