Lovely family friendly beach house in Chatham is perfect spot to create memories with family and/or friends. It has a deck and huge flat yard for games and BBQ's, outdoor shower, AC, wifi, gas firepit, big kitchen with an island and dining table, large dining room, adjoining living and sun rooms. It's minutes from beaches, ponds, bike trails, fishing, kayaking, and shopping/dining in quaint downtown Chatham.
At the end of a quiet private road with just four houses, the house is located on a gently rolling peninsula that juts out into Pleasant Bay. Nickerson Neck is great to explore by bike, car or boat - it is also home to the exclusive Eastward Ho Golf Club, two small town beaches – Crows Pond and Strong Island Landing, many lovely homes, and sweeping ocean views. The house is the perfect spot for a family vacation or a getaway with friends, with easy access to all that Chatham has to offer. It also offers the perfect home base for attending or hosting a wedding or event at the nearby five-star Wequasset Resort, the neighboring Land Ho Golf Club, or the Chatham Bars Inn.
There are two large flat lawns for kids of all ages to run around, play yard games, sunbathe or just hang out, and an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand and sea. The large yard also makes a great spot for family volleyball, soccer or croquet, or for a casual BBQ or brunch.
The deck off the kitchen and sunroom is perfect for morning coffee, cocktails, dining, card-playing or shell-sorting. A retractable awning means you can choose sun or shade. You can cook for a crowd in the large, high-ceilinged kitchen (or outside on the gas grill) with room for at least 14 in the kitchen and dining rooms. If you want to try your hand at steaming lobsters, you’ll find lobster and corn pots, crackers picks & bibs.
The open, glass-filled sunroom and adjoining living room are great for catching up with each other or playing games. Cool off in the AC when it’s hot - cozy up to the gas fireplace or gas firepit on the patio when it’s not.
The large first-floor primary bedroom includes a king bed and full en suite bath with dual sinks. There are two bedrooms upstairs, and the basement is a great spot for kids of all ages, with a queen, bunk beds, a full bathroom, two couches, a smart TV and an air hockey table.
Beaches & Ponds: Chatham is nearly surrounded by water and has many beaches you can get to in minutes. Pleasant Bay, which surrounds Nickerson Neck, is a mostly protected bay that is home to many public boat landings, moorings and small beaches with gentle waves, including Jackknife Beach, Crow's Pond, and Strong Island Beach. The south part of Chatham on the ocean offers bigger waves - Hardings, Cockle Cove and Ridgevale Beaches. Lighthouse Beach near the center of Town is a must-visit beach with stunning dunes and views, while Oyster Pond (a saltwater inlet) and Schoolhouse Pond (a freshwater kettle pond) offer additional gentle options for younger children. Finally, the gorgeous national seashore beaches of the Cape are a short drive away, with the gorgeous Nauset Beach in Orleans just about 10-15 minutes from the house.
Other Activities and Attractions: Chatham has so much to offer, including kayaking, biking on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, boat rentals, fishing charters, golf and fishing, shopping movies and dining in the quaint town village, Chatham Anglers baseball games, the observation deck at the working Chatham Fish Pier, tour boats to see the seals that gather on Monomoy Island and walks at the National Wildlife Refuge. Don’t miss Chatham Lighthouse and the Chatham Shark Center, or one of Chatham’s museums and historical attractions, including the Atwood House Museum, the Chatham Railroad Museum, the Caleb Nickerson House, and the Marconi Maritime Center. There are also summer band concerts downtown at the Band Stand.
Bars and Restaurants: While the kitchen has all you need to cook at home for a crowd, Chatham has dozens of dining options, including casual options like Chatham Fish & Lobster, Dogfish Taco Co. and the legendary Squire pub, as well as gourmet offerings including the Wequasset and Chatham Bars Inn restaurants, plus the Wayside Inn on Main Street where our family patriarch worked in his 20's and fell in love with Chatham.
