Description

Description

Relax in our charming cottage with its spectacular views and ideal location. Great for families, young adults and older couples.

It’s a half-mile walk, or two minute drive, to family-friendly Hardings Beach, and a scenic, 10-minute stroll to nearby Buck's Creek, where you can paddle board or kayak from the neighborhood dock. The Cape Cod bike trail is a mile away.

You’re a quick ten minute drive to downtown Chatham, one of the most vibrant dining and shopping areas on Cape Cod.

An open floor plan and many large windows gives the cottage plenty of sun and marsh breezes during the day. Mini-split air conditioners in the two main bedrooms and the living room, along with an air-conditioning unit in the loft allows for cool nights.

The master bedroom, with a queen bed, has its own bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom, with two twin beds, has an adjacent bathroom with a shower and tub.

The loft, which looks onto the living room, has a queen bed, dresser and closet. The adjacent room has a twin bed and a table. Note that the loft is open, although the room with the queen bed does have a privacy screen. The loft is probably best for teens and young adults.

Bed linens, bath towels, and beach towels are included with your rental. Beach chairs, umbrella, a beach wagon, coolers and kids toys also available.

The kitchen has plenty of space, spices and equipment to cook, along with a large dining table. It also has a dishwasher and washer/dryer. The living room has comfortable seating, a TV, and upgraded fast wireless internet with a mesh router to allow for streaming shows and movies. Netflix, HBO Max, Showtime, Hulu, and Prime Video are available.

The two decks overlook a scenic marsh, where you can spot deer and a wide variety of birds, including hawks and owls. The upper deck has seating for morning coffee and nighttime star gazing. The lower deck has a grill and additional seating. An enclosed patio has plenty of storage space for bikes, boards and beach gear. There's a large back yard where kids can play, and a cozy fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs.

The cottage is a bit quirky in layout and design, and not super-modern. But it is clean, airy and comfortable. If your idea of a great vacation is being able to kick back, relax and enjoy beautiful views, long walks, good food and the beach, then this is the place for you.

In addition to the review on this site, you can also find reviews on Airbnb. A few excerpts:

We love this cottage and rebooked this summer after staying last summer. The place is homey, unique, and clearly loved and cherished by the family who owns it. We highly recommend.''

''This is a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy what Chatham has to offer.... We would stay here again in a heartbeat.''

The cottage ''is a delight in the way that a treehouse is a delight. It’s a lovingly homemade, handmade quirky wonder.''

''Beth was wonderfully responsive and we felt confident that if there were a need, she would have taken care of anything if we called upon her.''

    Gorgeous View

My family and I had the best time at this cottage. It was very well stocked with all the comforts of home and a fire pit to boot with the most beautiful view of the marsh and proximity to the beach and dock was the best part or our vacation. The town of Chatham is so quaint and has the freshest seafood around not to mention many places to get our daily dose of ice cream. Hope to return soon.

We had an amazing time in Chatham at Beth's place. The house made you feel right at home from the get go. Clean, cosy and quiet, we appreciated the local vibes and atmosphere. Extremely well equipped. The kids loved the beach apparels. The view from the living room and terrace is gorgeous. Beth was responsive and eager to help. All in all a great time. We hope to be back one day. (from Airbnb)

    Beautiful Views

We stayed for a week in this quaint, quirky cottage with a beautiful view of the marsh, with a firepit and great location. We enjoyed walking to the beach and easy access to downtown Chatham for the fireworks and parade. This space worked well for our family with 3 older children. Kitchen was well stocked.

    Wonderful place to relax!

This is a perfect cottage for getting away and relaxing. If you need the beach, it's only a 10 minute walk to Harding's Beach (and a lot faster by car), and the house is equipped with chairs and beach toys. However we spent a lot of time just sitting on the back deck, admiring the change of light on the salt marsh.
The cottage is open and airy, and just a delight. My son enjoyed sleeping in the loft bedroom. It's also conveniently close to everything Chatham has to offer -- like Kream & Kone! show more show less

(Posted on Airbnb) This is a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy what Chatam has to offer. The location makes this home perfect for walking, with a beach on one end of the street and restaurants/bars on the other. I brought my kayak up and the public launch was just up the road as well. Inside the home is super cozy with a deck that overlooks a protected marsh. We found ourselves relaxing there after a day out each night. In terms of the cleanliness, this place can't be beat. That is one of the top qualities I look for in and not only was it clean but also extremely organized with dishes and cookware, even species for staying in and cooking if you desire to. Just a wonderful week away with the family. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Beth and Julia for being such great hosts! And also thanks to your parents for building such an inviting home. show more show less

Perfect Cottage for a Family Vacation

If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of family life this is the place to go. The cottage is perfectly stocked with everything a family would need for the week from towels, beach chairs, pans in the kitchen and nice spices to cook with. The natural light and the beautiful views from the cottage really encourage everyone to slow down and decompress.

The location was great, with a quick walk to the beach and easy access to any stores or restaurants. The hosts were great to work with and gave a lot of nice suggestions for local attractions etc. I can't say enough good things and we are counting down until our next stay. show more show less

(Posted on Airbnb) Beth's home is a delight in the way that a treehouse is a delight. It's a lovingly homemade, handmade quirky wonder. There are many cookie cutter "neutral" houses for rent in the area. This is not one of them. It is something of a time capsule, reminding me of my childhood trips to the Cape forty years ago (but with new appliances, air conditioning, and a big tv).

The adults' favorite part of the house was the sweeping double balcony overlooking the grand expanse of a salt marsh. The view was magnificent and Beth thoughtfully provided binoculars for us to birdwatch.

We also loved the short half mile walk to the beach, on a sidewalk and on relatively flat ground. The walk was so easy and picturesque!

My son loved the turtle star projector light which helped him sleep in a scary new bed far from home. He also loved all the places to play hide and seek. The dollhouse style architecture makes it fun! I'd say the place best accommodates one family with 1-5 children.

Note that the bathroom off the primary bedroom has a small shower stall with a narrow entrance.

The home is very well stocked with whatever guests might need. Additionally, it comes with a helpful binder of tips and places to go. We did many of the things and had a fabulous time! We hope to come back soon!

(Posted on Airbnb) This house and its host are fantastic! The house has obviously been long cherished by Beth's family. It is warm and relaxed, immaculately kept up, and thoughtfully stocked with everything a family could need. This is not a flashy new house - this is a charming and practical homemade gem. Beth was wonderfully responsive and we felt confident that if there were a need, she would have taken care of anything if we called upon her. That said, everything was so well prepared that no such need arose! show more show less

Our parents built this cottage in the 1970s and our family has used it as both a vacation home and a rental for many years since. My sister and I inherited the cottage in 2020, and, after sprucing it up, began renting it in the summer of 2021. We spent many happy summer days here as children and have brought our children here every summer since they were little. We hope our cottage can be a place where other families can create wonderful memories as well.

What is special about this property?
What's special about this property is the space and location. It's open and sunny, and, as one renter described it, like a treehouse.

One of our favorite spots is the back deck, which overlooks a marsh. The view is expansive. We often like to sit out there in the morning with our coffee and watch the birds and occasional deer run through the marsh.

What is special about your town?
Chatham is one of the most vibrant towns on the Cape. It has a wonderful main street which is filled at night with people visiting shops, eating out, or grabbing an ice cream. On Friday nights, the town offers free, old-time band concerts where families can stretch out on blankets in the park. The old movie theater has been refurbished and offers classics, like Jaws. The Cape Cod Baseball League hosts games in town through most of the summer. Our cottage is just a 10-minute drive from all of these activities, and more. Our cottage is a 1/2 mile from a family friendly beach.
